The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 4

And now for a general reminder: just because someone signs on to a movie this year, it doesn't take them out of the running. We know nothing about the scheduling details, so we don't know what's feasible for them. People do multiple movies a year all the time. Sometimes they even work on more than one at the same time.
Exactly.
Jude Law was doing 6 movies in 2004, it's not impossible for an actor/actress to do.
Not true, I'm only bored of people obssession with Wilde.

I think McAdams, Kunis or even Biel could be good Lois Lane too.:cwink:
There isn't any "obsession" with Wilde, some people just prefer her over McAdams, and considering those are the only two actresses actually reported to be close to nabbing the role, odds are most the discussion will be about them. It's not obsession.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Alexa Davalos neck.

She's ok, not good enough for Lois though.

Probably already been mentioned... it's hard to keep track with all of the thread changes. But Minka Kelly definitely has the look. Jury's still out on the acting, though I'm inclined to think, with proper direction, she can be quite good.

Minka Kelly acts, and especially sounds, too girly. i love her look, but she's totally wrong for Lois.

I want her to have my babies, but I also have to say no.

Plus, she's doing Charlie's Angels, so that may keep her busy.

Lol, yeah it's a bit like the skunk at the garden party. I think you can find any excuse to not like any pick for Lois or Superman for that matter. No actress is gonna fit every single fan's vision of Lois , which is why it's basically left to the director to determine whether the actress fits the part as written.

As for Davelos , while she's a good actress I can't say 100% she could pull off the Lois role. By the same token I can't say that for any actress being pushed for here because I haven't seen them do a screentest . That said, I think it'd be cool if she went out for the part .

Exactly. One girl's neck is too long. The next one doesn't have a neck. The next one is too evil-looking. Too girly. Too sexy. Not sexy enough. It's ridiculous.

Alexa Davalos, her true acting talent can be seen in feast of Love.....

Mila Kunis heard about so many wanting her for the role. Olivia Wilde, who has a much larger Lois backing than Kunis, has to have heard by now, as well. Wilde's silence about it seems to hint that she's either open for the idea, or has already auditioned.

Yeah, sounds like it. I'm a bit surprised though that Ma Kent is the second big casting announcement we got. Perhaps her role will be even more significant than before? Or maybe it's just that Diane's deal was the quickest one to get finished.

Casting Lois would take a lot longer, I'd imagine.

Agreed. Not only would they need to find the right actress who looks and can act the role, but I'd imagine that they'd need some time to see if that actress had the necessary chemistry with Cavill as well.

casting is going very good so far. but superhero movies never have perfect casting for every role.so an actor or actress will be bad.

who will it be Lois or Lex?

If we're lucky, they'll miscast a smaller character than either of those two since I would hope that they could cast the right people for those two big roles.

Get "perfect" out of your head, it's a silly abstract.

I'm hoping for excellent casting in all the roles.

hmm, I was gonna say batman begins and the dark knight had perfect casting, but then I remembered katie holmes and maggie gyllenhaal. Well, they weren't amazing but they fit their parts well enough, and thankfully it wasn't a character from the comics they underwhelmed with. Hopefully superman can be just as good, and it seems like they're on the right track. I hope nolan is more involved than he lets on with casting, as he seems to have a great eye for it.

Katie Holmes herself did a fine enough job, it was the character itself that was flawed.

yeah, I don't think they were terrible, they were acceptable, it's just that the rest of the cast was so steller that they were clearly the weak links. be it the character or whatever, it's hard to seperate the two and judge it fairly.

I'm really hoping that they pick someone just right for this character and that the character itself is better written than previous interpretations.

And, I'm actually curious to see as to how Lois's relationship with Superman/Clark will be written this time around.

Obviously, they shouldn't overdramatize it like how they've done in SR, and given that this is more of a modern take, I would hope that the character is written to be nicer to the Clark Kent persona.

It is. That's why it's so fortunate for you all that I have the superpower of "Fair Judgement".

My top 5 list at this juncture are

1)Olivia Wilde
2)Kate Mara
3)Mary Elizabeth Winstead
4)Lizzy Caplan
5)Missy Peregrym

Yeah, this is the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about when it comes to those films, because Nolan can do no wrong in the eyes of so many people. But the fact is, you could have had a better actress than Katie or a hotter actress than Maggie (I personally find Maggie very sexy but I know that there are plenty of people who don't and that was the chief reason they didn't accept her in the role) and the character would have still felt underwhelming.

It's sort of like Rachel McAdams in Sherlock Holmes. Rachel's a very talented actress and she suited the part she played; but her character was so underdone in comparison to Holmes, Watson and Blackwood that she barely registers in the movie.

Whoever Snyder casts as Lois, she better outshine Martha, because there's going to be some stiff competition in the looks department with Diane Lane. There's never been a situation like this before that the actress playing Martha actually raises the bar completely lol.
