The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread - Part 5

The goth/troubled thing isn't in every role, but she's fragile in every role. Even Whatever Works, she plays an innocent who has a child-like sensitivity and fragility. I haven't seen True Blood, so I can't comment, but I've seen every one of her movie roles and she's a variation of "fragile" in everything. Even if not, you really think she should be Lois?

Watch the clip of her on True Blood. Seriously, nothing fragile.

I like discussing new people, and i'd be happy with her in the role because I respect her acting ability. I think she has a lot of unexplored potential in playing a strong woman. Obviously Sophie Ann is a bit different, as a Vampire Queen, but it shows that she can play mature and confident very well.

The thing is, she's had a lot of roles where she plays this 'fragile' person, because she is very good at playing fragile. She is wanted to roles like that, because people have seen her do it so well before. But that doesn't mean it's the ONLY thing she's capable of.

She's growing up now. She is a very talented actress, with a lot more range in her than people give her credit for.

I can easily see her pulling off both the 'hard as nails' Lois Lane, and the swooning for superman one, without a problem.

The add in the fact that she looks great with Cavill, has chemistry with Cavill, and Snyder and Nolan both have expressed interest in her before.

I love kendrick, she's cute and super hot, but I don't know if she could pull of lois' spunk.

Her role in Up in the Air she played the typical young career driven woman (the character had spunk, although a bit annoying at times). It says something that she pulled of that role paired with George Clooney. She wasn't overshadowed by him at all I thought.

From watching True Blood, I definitely think ERW would do a great job as Lois as well.

That character wasn't similar to lois beyond being career driven.

Why do people think that an actress must have played a similar role of Lois before to prove she's good for the part???

Who thinks that?

Almost everyone here. All the time I read comments like "She's good, but I've never seen her playing a spunky character, so I don't think she can pull it of".

This is ridiculous, if an actress is competent playing other type of charaters, why doens't she can play Lois Lane? Let's face it, it's not such a big challenging role to play...:whatever:

I'd love to see an actress who have never played a similar role before playing Lois Lane very well.

She just needs the look, to be versatile and have great chemistry with Cavill.

Aside from looks, "similar role" is all the evidence they think they have for their candidate being the best.

But I don't think anyone's saying she has to have played that type of role already.

When it comes down to it: as long as an actress has the appropriate looks and a wide range of talent, she's good potential. That's it.

Thought this might interest people (or maybe not!)

Lainey over at Lainey Gossip just posted this....

I’ve been hearing from multiple sources lately that Biel is in consideration for at least two MAJOR profile projects working with MAJOR profile, very influential Hollywood players. The parts don’t require much skill, if any, but they’re looking for an attractive girl who can stand there and be the “girlfriend”. And a lot of girls want this job. I’m told Jessica’s very near the top of the list, if not at the top, specifically for a movie involving a dude who might, once in a while, fly around saving the world in a cape. Wouldn’t it be convenient if she booked the role and then started dating her handsome costar with an accent? There’s a LOT better than Justin Timberlake out there. She’ll be back on the cling soon enough. Trust.

Now, normally I don't trust gossip blogs but Lainey tends to use reliable sources and she has scooped casting for movies before so I tend to believe what she writes. Anyway, I Biel wouldn't be top of MY list. She's just too... beige?

i REALLY REALLY REALLY hope it's not Beil. she's attractive and 'okay' actress...but she's just a boring actress.

That description sounds like a perfect role for Biel, but it doesn't sound like Lois Lane
I would be really upset if they cast Biel as Lois...I just don't want this mediocre actress in this movie. Also I don't want Lois to be just he "attractive girlfriend"...But this is still gossip, so I'm not worried yet.

And maybe the role is Lana Lang and Lois only has a small part and will be saved for a sequel...?!

i feel like people should be more open minded....at the end of the day, it really matters if chemistry is perfect.....and like someone said playing a role like lois is not really hard, and my imo shes capable of pulling it off

If it's Biel my interest in this film will take a nosedive.

Her acting is blah, her looks are blah... another mediocre Lois Lane would be disappointing.

Really? I want a good Lois but its secondary to everything else really. I'd still me majorly excited cause Im a huge Superman fan.

Malin Akerman would be a better choice than Biel. I dislike them both, but Akerman's the lesser of evils here.

I with Man of Tomorrow, there's nothing about Biel that fits Lois Lane. You might aswell cast Stroup or Greene, atleast they have the look.

Maggie Grace what about her

I'd be completely fine with Biel as Lois.

NOT BIEL! :cmad: I'd take Olivia Wilde any day over Biel... Heck, I think i'd even take Bosworth back, with a better script.

The Biel news shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

She was on the original shortlist reported by What'sPlaying (and they also pegged her as the favorite), not to mention the report of her and Snyder having lunch together.

The studio's also been keen on her. They offered her Wonder Woman in Justice League (she declined).

None of this means that she will be Lois (yet, at least) but she's definitely on the list of contenders.

Well the good thing is Lois is rumored to have a small secondary role in this.

However, it's still a crappy choice. I kind of wanted to see the character finally done right in live action. Hoping to get a live action version of:

Biel couldn't pull it off.

Indeed

If Biel is cast we'll have another BB/Holmes deal. I put up with it in '05, I guess I can again.

Yeah, nothing's confirmed. It's all speculation at this point until an official announcement is made.
