I did a quick manip of the pair of Henry and Rachel. IMO they look pretty good as Lois and Clark.

In regard to these shortlists, I have to say that Rachel McAdams is the best pick of them all. Again, I don't have any major qualms about the others, but if any of you have seen "Morning Glory," where McAdams plays a determined producer, you'll see Lois Lane to a tee.

Go to YouTube and watch some of the ads for Morning Glory and tell me McAdams isn't already the unofficial Lois Lane for this reboot.

I'd like to see her play Lois; I agree with others here that she does seem to have been destined to play the part and the wagon's missed her a few times. It's about time Nolan and Snyder got her aboard.

^^ That's Lois Lane. Period. If Nolan/Snyder go with someone else, that's cool -- but if they do, I'll always wonder how much better Lois could have been if it were this girl right here.

Strangely, I think I like her even more because she reminds of the other perfect actress for Lois -- if this movie had been made 12/15 years ago -- Mary Louis-Parker. Both are solid actresses and they're pretty (not bombshell beautiful) but pretty in that they have the looks and sass, but also a wonderful charm and sharp wit.

I really hope it's not Biel. She is a terrible actress imo. Stewert is the go to girl but looks too young to be Lois. Though she would bring in a huge fanbase and guarantee that Superman was a success. McAdams is a little old but not a bad choice. Either her or Wilde.

Olivia Wilde - Great look. Acting range uncertain. Should age well with Cavill. Lois factor: 8

rachel_mcadams_1.jpg

Rachel McAdams - Good Actress. A little old. Lois factor: 8

Evangeline Lilly - Solid Actress. A little old. Pregnant. Lois factor 7.

kristen-stewart-without-makeup-3.jpg

Kristen Stewart - Decent Actress with following. Looks young. Lois Factor 2.

jessica-biel-b.jpg

Jessica Biel - Average actress. Good age. Lois Factor 4.5

Other notables.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead - Okay actress. Doesn't stand out but doesn't distract that much either. Lois Factor 5.

Jessica Stroup - Unsure about her acting. Not a big name with no real following. Good look and age. Lois Factor 5.5

Emily Blunt - Good Actress. Weird smile. Also British. Lois Factor 5.5

Alison Brie - Unproven actress. Doesn't stand out but doesn't distract either. Lois Factor 4.5

Malin Ackerman - Good look and decent actress. A little older but doesn't look it. Lois Factor 6

Dianna Agron - Good actress with a small following. Looks kinda young. Lois Factor 5

Yeah Stroup all the way please!

I do not think she looks or acts too young at-all. They can always dress her up to look like a successful career woman. I think what Stroup has is a really likeability.
Lois has to be someone who men and women really respond well to.

People are gonna go to see Superman and Lois Lane, not any actor. The characters are the important factor here not a celebrity. While McAdams would be a really good Lois, she seems to me an already well established actress in Hollywood. Stroup has only really been in tv shows like 90210.

I'm always going to root for the underdog because I don't care about celebrity, or what an actress has or hasn't been in. I want to see the character or Lois played right. Stroup wouldn't need a huge salary, so that definitly saves money, I see McAdams needing a bigger salary because she's a MUCH bigger star.

I don't think age has anything to do with it, really. It's more about the portrayal. Bosworth was what, 24 when she did SR? And she came off like she was 45. I'll take someone with a little more charm and charisma over age anyday

Bosworth was 24 and looked like she was 17 imo.

If you mean Bosworth was "boring" like a 45 year old, then fine. But as to whether she looked like she was 45? Absolutely not.

And that was the problem with Bosworth. They cast a 24 year-old to play an older Lois, one who had already had a relationship with Superman, bore a child, and was without him for 5 years. Singer botched the casting on this character, and we saw what it could do.

The casting for Lois is very important -- and I agree it's all about the chemistry. Good actresses though (like McAdams and Hathaway) can create the chemistry when it's not there. Bad actresses just can't do it, and oftentimes strip whatever energy comes from those around them (i.e. Bosworth to Routh).

I would think McAdams can get the job done. Biel I have less faith in (and frankly, not as convinced she's got the right look/charm).

As for Stoup, I don't know enough about her. She strikes me as a little too young. She's definitely younger-looking and not sure she'd persuade me that she's a seasoned reporter onscreen. That said, I don't know. I'm basing my opinion solely on her appearance.

With the right makeup artists, though, I'm sure they could have her look 5-8 years older. Whether she can play that part is another question. We know McAdams can.

i'll repeat for the umpteenth time...this is the beginning of Superman, so Lois Lane might not necessarily be a seasoned reporter just yet.

Oh she looked 15 to be honest, but she acted like some overly condescending, middle age prude who I wouldn't save from walking in a puddle, let alone wrestle with an airliner for

Gotcha. Yup, that's what made the whole movie just not make any sense. Sure, Superman is fantasy, but given Singer was trying to bring the MoS into a real dramatic problem, it just didn't work when Lois looked like a girl who is in college. It appeared as if he'd banged her at the end of high school and split.

Didn't help that Routh also looked like a Superman who had just gotten into the suit vs. one who had been around for at least 5 years.

Man, whenever we bring up SR here, I'm always reminded at how many things in that movie just never added up. In the wise words of Patrick Star, "These words make my head sad."

They really need to give Lois PERSONALITY. In my opinion that's what really gives her and Superman chemistry. Lois is a trier, she does things even though she shouldn't, goes after scoops that probably ARE too dangerous for her. She has strong opinions on things, and is perfectly fine voicing them to anyone who wants to know.

Lois is the girl who can kick your ass at Halo wars, and will go in the ring to knock a wrestler out if she has to. She goes all gooey when she sees Superman.

But through all that she's LIKEABLE. Because Superman can see all her human vulnerability.

Bosworth brought NOTHING to the table. She was too flat and knew nothing of Lois' personality. Lois needs a real spark, fire and charisma.

Even kryptonians can see why Superman fell in love with Lois.

Jessica Stroup is the winner for me.

You can repeat it as many times as you'd like, but even with that reasoning, Stroup, along with the rest of the teen-looking actresses, are not right for Lois at all.

And what's your official source on that?

None of us know that for sure. You're just going off what some "insiders" reported.

The only official word we have is the one from Nolan's LA Times interview, and there he made it abundantly clear this was not an origin story. That's all we know for certain.

That Snyder cast a 27 year-old further makes it unlikely this is the "beginning" of Superman.

So, for the umpteenth time, and based on Nolan, this is NOT an origin story. That said, I don't think a 24 year-old is out of the running. All I'm saying is that her acting abilities are suspect and I'd prefer a more seasoned actress like McAdams.

She needs to be strong but not annoyingly so. You know what I mean when I say that.

Yeah, I didn't quite vibe with the "Stalker" Superman either, peering through to watch her and the family, sneaking in the house, it was all a little...weird, at least for me.

But really, Lois, and by extension, Bosworth's portrayal of her were the elements that brought the whole movie down for me, because a lot of it I really liked.

The action sequences (the few that were there) I enjoyed. I thought Spacey was good. I didn't even mind the suit as much as I did initially. But I just couldn't get into Kate, and without that, the whole crux of the film just fell apart, because so much was placed on it.

I didn't believe they were in love, and I definitely didn't feel any chemistry between her and Marsden. With so much emphasis on this love triangle, having someone come across so cold was the deathblow for my overall enjoyment.

I almost agree on this, but Lois is headstrong yes, but she does not have the strength to back it up and that's what I see a lot of people are forgetting. Lois wouldn't be able to hold her own in a fight against Lex, Braniac, Bizarro, hell even Mercy Graves.

She's a reporter who gets herself in trouble and does need saving; she's not a heroine.

If Kristen Stewart ends up being Lois..... it'll be like a geek holocaust. :csad:

I reallllyy hope Rachel McAdams gets the part...really hope. Shes been my top pick for Lois for a few years now. I really hope she gets it, shes very likeable as an actress & she is just the right amount of hot for Lois Lane.

Jessica Biel in my view doesn't have the right look.. nor, at least based on any of her other work do I think she has the right kind of charm for Lois Lane.. I'd be kinda disappointed if she lands the part ahead of Rachel McAdams.

Please don't mention Kristen Stewart & Lois Lane in the same sentence, she looks far too young & shes just not appealling in the role at all to me.

Henry Cavill & Rachel McAdams
