Yeah, I didn't quite vibe with the "Stalker" Superman either, peering through their window, sneaking in the house, it was all a little...weird, at least for me.
But really, Lois, and by extension, Bosworth's portrayal of her were the elements that brought the whole movie down for me, because a lot of it I really liked.
The action sequences (the few that were there) I enjoyed. I thought Spacey was good. I didn't even mind the suit as much as I did initially. But I just couldn't get into Kate, and without that, the whole crux of the film just fell apart, because so much was placed on it.
I didn't believe they were in love, and I definitely didn't feel any chemistry between her and Marsden. With so much emphasis on this love triangle, having someone come across so cold was the deathblow for my overall enjoyment.
100% agree with this. While Lois is always cast based on who they get for Superman/Clark, the actress who plays her is so critically important. Bosworth dragged down SR (and let's be honest, a lot of that fault lies with the scriptwriters and the casting directors).
I was reminded how important Lois is in the story when I saw DC's animated Death/Return of Superman movie. There, Lois becomes the link we are so used to seeing between Superman and Clark. She is his humanity and he relies on her as much as she him. When that relationship is broken (which is what Singer did), the appeal of the Superman story is destroyed.
Presuming McAdams has the chemistry, I like her in this role. She is older (4-5 years, right?) but if we only get one Superman movie due to all the copyright mess, I want one I can watch over and over again. I just think McAdams and Cavill would do Superman/Clark/Lois great justice.
