The Official Lois Lane Casting & Discussion Thread

If I'm not mistaken, sine Cavill had been considered a long time contender and fan favorite for the roll; I wonder if we should be looking at the actresses who have been also considered as a long time contender/fan favorite for the role of Lois; someone of course who's still reasonably of the right age to play the character.

I like McAdams a lot (esp. after Morning Glory) -- that said, I'm not exactly convinced she's the best option. She is older (32)-- though again, no idea whether that matters. Lilly is 31 so she's got 4 years on Cavill, too. I don't think the age difference matters here but if Snyder/Nolan are thinking more than 1 film (which given the copyright dispute may not be feasible), then going with a 31/32 year-old actress might pose a slight dilemma, especially given they went with a late 20's Superman.

I'm not familiar enough with most of the other actresses being mentioned. Olivia is a great actress and she'd be an excellent Lois -- I'd be happy with her, too. Not liking Stewart, Kirshner or Bell -- none of them seem to fit the role much. Russell would work, but she's almost like a Bosworth clone (sure, better actress, but I'd rather they go for someone else -- also, Keri is 34 years old).

I still like Alison Brie. Great young actress but still relatively unknown. I don't know if Snyder wants to cast a huge actress in the role of Lois Lane. I always thought the way Superman was cast was to use relatively unknown actors for Clark and Lois and then surround them with big names. Nolan mentioned something akin to this in his LA Times interview a while back. Alison would be a good fit in terms of acting ability and she can easily play the sexy part along with the serious.

She also doesn't look bad at all next to Cavill. Threw this together real quick:

BTW, I like Stroup in terms of her looks -- she's a bit young (24) -- however, I don't know anything about her acting abilities. Brie is on Mad Men and Community so she can do the serious and the comedy -- great range, IMHO, and perfect for Lois in that respect.

So is it safe to assume that these factors will attribute to who they'll end up picking up as Lois Lane?:

1. Age
2. Acting Ability
3. Chemistry Present with Henry
4. Availability
5. Popularity with GA/Size of fanbase
6. Looks

I might put height in there as well because some of the casting choices are too short for Cavill IMO.

Unless they're actually midget, I dont think height is a concern when it comes to Lois.

I think lois needs to be someone who actually looks like a woman a more known actress than Cavill as well as having the right height for Cavill. I think Emily Blunt fits the bill, she is lois lane through my eyes :awesome:. She missed out on catwoman so maybe nolan may have whispered a few words into snyders ear.

Some of the girls mentioned look like teenage girls not woman.

Olivia Wilde i could live with but that forehead of hers screams bosworth.

I like Rachel McAdams, she would be a good lois. But im all for Emily Blunt.

Has anyone considered Mila Kunis? She's spunky, gorgeous, and now has mad Aronofsky cred.

Good grief I hope that Malin Ackerman as Lois rumour is just some stupid fanboy rumour. It would be dreadful to have to sit through her "acting" again!

Good choice about Emily as Lois though. I don't think she would do it but I would love to see it.

Just so I can feel I contributed I suggest Kristen Bell as Lois.

Rumor has it that kirsten stewart tried out for the role.

Ive really started liking Amanda Righetti, shes had a pretty good career so far, but nothing big, she has some potential and her look for the part is pretty great. And she's also 27 much like Cavill so the age isnt a factor

Im sure she'd look even better going dark brunette. Just another name to throw out, perhaps she'll be considered.

I am actually a little surprised at how much support emily blunt is getting. I am not sold on her.

I think that the best choice mentioned in the last couple pages is Ev Lily. Before I was rooting for Ashley Greene however I don't have any legitimate reason for choosing her other than I think she is super attractive and likeable. When I try to think of it logically the less I think she would fit.

Wow, that list is pretty terrible. The only one on there that seems like a good fit to me is McAdams.

The Bell option is...interesting. She's a fantastic, underrated actress (the 1st season of Veronica Mars alone has pretty much made me a fan for life, no matter how many crappy movies she does that I refuse to see), who has proven she can pull off the fiery attitude of Lois probably more than anyone mentioned in this (new) thread...BUT... she's just so damned tiny. And her voice kind of matches her size.

She basically has the opposite problem I see with Evangeline Lilly, who looks PERFECT for Lois to me, but hasn't convinced me she could pull off the personality. If we could put KBell's talent/attitude in Lilly's body, we'd have the perfect Lois, imo. So to me, neither one is a great fit for the role...but they both have their "pros."

Of that list, I'd say...that ass...I'm sorry, Biel.

You would think Akerman has some sort of inside shot because of her work with the director, but it didn't work for Goode. Kristen Stewart and Dianna Agron make no sense to me, but either did Blake Lively with Lantern and she was cast. If it were me, I would go with either Biel or McAdams.

If that list has any truth to it, I can see it coming down to Biel and McAdams too.

I'm all for Ashley Greene, but she's a bit too young. She's gorgeous and a good actress, but at 23, she'd be fresh out of college.

If we had an older Superman I could see my dream casting of Alana de la Garza, but since we have a 27-28 year old Superman how about:

Missy Peregrym.

She's 28. She looks the part. And she can act with the proper "spunk". Missy all the way.

If only. :(

Anyone for Rebecca Hall? How about Diane Kruger, might be too old plus she's blond, but I can imagine her beside Cavill.

I can actually see Jessica Biel getting this. She was the runner-up for Catwoman, so Nolan and WB, obviously, like her. If Snyder does too, she's in.

I like Biel but..I don't know. In recent years, she hasn't been doing so well career-wise and the last time I saw her in a movie (The A-Team), she was blah.

She's a beautiful woman and she can be great..only when she wants to be. I think Lois needs natural charisma, so the actress needs to be both smart and sassy without feeling forced. (unlike Bosworth)

I wouldn't cast her either, but if it's true she was runner up for catwoman, she probly has a decent shot. I wouldn't abhor it, I'd just expect a very bland, safe performance from her.
