Days of Future Past The Official Lucas Till/Havok Thread

Except they are immune to each other's powers....

X-Maniacs know these things :awesome:

Indeed. It would essentially devolve into a fist fight.

However I think it would have been fairly amusing to see the to go at each other to the point where they still try and shoot each other and in a rage. Could have some comedic value though ultimately unnecessary.

I genuinely don't understand the upset about the colour change. How is it sticking Havok in Cyclops' shadow? It's just a nod to their comic book lineage. Fan's will know why, and general audience won't notice. It doesn't matter.

What's the point of putting something purely in it for the comic fans when comic fans are going to know it's inaccurate?

The red beams are for the general audience, pure and simple. Either that or it's just a really, really stupid decision.

Alex Summers and Scott Summers do not have the same powers. Their powers are different and they are not similar. The thing they have in common is that they are brothers, And energy wielding mutants. Havoc absorbs solar and cosmic radiation, or rays and release it in the form of high energy plasma. Scott fires concussive beams of force from his eyes.
Their powers are pretty similar, or at least they must be because the same aura that protects Scott from self-damage also protects Alex and subsequently protects them from each other. Alex Summers occasionally produces plasma, but frequently is depicted as having force beams. I've seen this back and forth for years in X-Men. You're not wrong to say he produces plasma, he's done it multiple times, he's also NOT done that multiple times.
Except they're obviously sticking him in the shadow of Cyclops by giving him the red beams.
Alex's powers are much more poorly defined than Scott's. Alex has been displayed producing beams of concussive force as far back as Claremont's Phoenix Saga, as well as other storylines as well. Occasionally they'll be depicted as colorless, or blue, or white, or even red.

^^^ Well, at least they added in the circles to his blast, though I'd have liked the blast to be more...'eruptive', violent. But anyway...

i kind of like that he is his father or rumored to be

It is said that havok in the movie is a danger to himself and others so maybe xavier fails him and havok goes to the dark side per say and it make xavier be so protective of cyclops in the future to make sure he does'nt fail him.

I've been saying i think that was gonna happen with Havoc,i think hes gonna be a loose cannon and dies at the end or goes to the bad side.

I think thats why this won't be the first official First Class because i get the feeling this will be a failed team, Havoc potentially going to the bad side or dieing, Mystique does to the bad side, Banshee who knows and Beast would be the only saving grace.

I doubt Havok will change sides. I think he'll die, sacrificing himself to protect Xavier from Magneto or the Hellfire Club.

are they inmune?

I didnt know that.

What I was meaning is that it would have been a nice watch. Maybe on the danger room as part of the training. something like that.

the two brothers learning together....

:( I should stop thinking about that, it makes me feel a bit bad about Cyclops and Havok and their fans.

Yeah, their powers have no effect on each other and effectively cancel each other out:

I would feel really bad if Havok'll die . Hope they do not do that.
Anyway, both Havok and cyclope are such cool and badass characters.

I remember that clip, thanks for posting here :funny:

Continuity wise, can Havok die if he's Scott's father? Who is the mother and how old was Scott in X1?

I really don't care too much about connecting the continuity dots but if it effects the plot of this film then it's worth talking about.

I still say make Havok in this film Alex Summers SR so that he can have two boys in the future, Alex Summers JR and Scott Summers. Alex JR can have the same powers (white beams) and adopt the same nickname to honor his father. Navy fighter pilots use the same call-names as their fathers all the time. That scenerio keeps everyone happy unless they're big Corsair or Starjammers fans.

Something tells me Angel Salvadore will be the mother. If she is and Havok does die, maybe she's already pregnant when he bites the dust.

I think people are dissecting this too much. Singer's Superman Returns was a sequel to Superman 2 that was set far further in the future than the actual movie implied. You could apply the same logic here. Patrick Stewart would've been 21/22 years old during the Kennedy administration, and it doesn't seem Xavier is quite that young in this movie.

Loved that episode. Had a huge geek-gasm when I saw Havok (always been a huge fan) and then when it showed their powers didn't work on each other I loved it. Such nostalgia.

Thanks for the condolences :waa:

anyway.... apart from this wrong decision, I think this movie will be one of the best of the franchise, and maybe one of the best of the genre.

Lucas Till interview from August Man Magazine

Inside the issue, the 20-year-old actor opens up about having Havok’s super powers, his dream of becoming a real action figure and his new production company.

On being Cyclops brother: “I definitely remember wanting to be Wolverine, but Havok is a great consolation prize. I can shoot energy beams out of my entire body, and I’m Cyclops' brother. Havok has always historically been the brother with more potential, but because he has less control over his powers, he has always been secluded and separated.”

On becoming a real video game character: “I’ve had two goals in my life: one was to someday be an action figure, and the other one was to be in a video game, and one of those was completed with Hannah Montana. They came out with this Ken Doll of me and this crazy HM video game. (In the game) there was this guy on the cover, wearing my clothes and I was like, ‘That’s me?!’ And I just went ahead and bought it because I thought, ‘I have to check this out,’ and there was this 35-year-old dude with a much higher voice than me doing my voice and I was like, ‘that is not me!’ X-Men is going to be my legitimate shot at getting it right.”

Perhaps they are brothers after all

Maybe Singer meant they're not brothers as in roughly the same age fighting each other sense?

Calm down, all fans here. I guess Lucas Till does know lots of x men stuff. He just says Havok historically:word: brother to cyclops, since cyclops is more "famous" or more popular ( he was in previous movies or TV or cartoon afterall)-- that is all we read in the comic book too. Every time, when we mention Havok, we already bring up cyclops or even bring up wolvrine.
Does it really matter, lucas portray a badass/ cool/athethic/ power Havok in the big screen, he blasts out from his hands and chest, that is enough for me to watch.
