EA The Official Mass Effect Thread - Part 2

Perhaps the fans went a little overboard with their comments, but I think critically it ended up where it deserved. A 70 on metacritic is actually higher than I would've scored, but in the end it's BioWare's fault for releasing an unfinished and overall subpar game. They figured they could ride the coattails of the franchise's past success without being innovative or creative and it bit them in the ass.

Unfortunately, it also hurt the brand and now we may never get another Mass Effect game again.

As in you need the next generation console to play or reveal Anthem is set in the Mass Effect universe about 50 years or so after the Andromeda game?????

As far as they made it clear Athem is is own ip. And it better stay that way.

Yeah I don't get why this guy thinks it's relevant that it might be a little better than the level of criticism. If you fall significantly below the standard the franchise has set you are taking the risk of blowing the whole thing regardless of whether a good chunk of fans dislike it or if it's outright terrible.

agreed.

I do hope we get another ME game. But I'd want it separate from the Andromeda setting. Though I wouldn't mind using some of the combat ideas from Andromeda - I did like how you could choose powers from all the classes.

They probably need a long break now and then to come back with a resurgence with a development A team on the game (nothing outsourced). The fans would come back for a game that looked awesome, promised high production stnadards, gameplay improvements and a proper space epic sweeping story and the great characters that it's had in the past.

yeah.

I we ever get another game, I hope they'll ignore that Andromeda was ever a thing. The whole premise was silly from the start. At first I thought the story of Andromeda is that they have all escaped to another Galaxy, to escape from the Reapers. That's actually a good idea why everything would take place in a new Galaxy, removed from current events. But apparently the whole trip to another Galaxy was planned way before the Reapers were known? Did I understand that correctly? The reason being, they basically wanted to mine the new Galaxy for resources. Seriously? The vast Galaxy you inhabit right now, with billions of stars and planets, doesn't have enough resources?

On the plus side, I think they'll only make another ME game if they really go for it with the right budget, team and premise as it would be too much of a risk otherwise. Another Andromeda level effort and they would likely make big losses as everyone is already wary and I think a lot less people will preorder.

The next Mass Effect will take place entirely on Earth. In Kansas. In Smallville.

Smallville, after all, is the meteor capital of the world, is home to meteor freaks, and a few aliens, too.

;)

Just because Alec Ryder found out about it after the events of the original Mass Effect doesn't mean the benefactor didn't already know and were responsible for coaxing Jien Garson's with the means to actually pull off such an effort.

Also how long do you think it takes to build an Ark let alone the Nexus in secret without alarming the rest of the Council or the various races?

Takes alot longer than the decade it currently appears maybe fifty years and then there's how they identified those golden world's since the "telescope" they used is Geth and they were initially under Reaper control maybe they DID know but didn't want anyone else knowing of their plans and the fact it could be done?

So unless the Geth were the Benefactor who else had forewarning enough to get this all ready?

Don't worry toomuch about tthis was meant to be an Exploration game .
and even star trek and show that rivaled it did this for the same reason the Explorartion always lead to conolonzation of another planet in other galaxy's. and thing's similar.

if only they didn't mess up this game with releasing it in half baked form .

which is all middle managements fault for thinking every thing was fine that way and every thing will be fixed with patach's and weirder not letting their workers that were supposed be on this game work on it but had done over sea's in an out source . very bad chose's which they can't even explain why it happened which got in to this mess.

I thin I'd prefer a return to the ME2 style, more narrative focus than exploration. I get lost too much otherwise lol.

the exploration they chose was fine . they just had poor boss's . which is a shame

i also agree with xknight there are some idea's tha would be great if it make's in other instaments. but the likely hood of it now ....

yeah they were just people put in charge that shouldn't have been .

I ended up giving up on this game for now. About a month ago I encountered a major headache. During powering up one of the generators, when that mist stuff follows you, and you have to outrun it. Frame rate dropped to 10 or less. So I managed to escape in an extremely frustrating slow run to the door, while being shot at.

I'm over half way through the game, and decide to plug on. Then I encounter some more Remnant in some random spot on the planet, frame rate drops to 10 again. This proceeds to happen every time I encounter Remnant. So I finish that planet, hoping this bug is only on that planet, noped followed me to new Tchunka.

Anything else is fine, no noticeably bad frame drop. I encounter Remnant though? Even if only 4-5, massive frame drop. When the frame rates drop, if I quit to main menu, and load my game again, it's perfectly fine.

At this point, with all the Remnant, it's unplayable. It's not my PS4 as I'm playing Horizon ZD again (a more graphical game) with 0 problems. So my options are wait for a patch, restart hoping I don't encounter the same bug, or wait until I get a PS4 Pro sometime in the future. Right now, any part of me that was enjoying the game is gone. I'll probably retry it when I get a Pro at some point. It didn't help that this was far from the first bug I encountered.

The whole 600 year journey between galaxies would have worked better if they found a Mass Relay at the edge of the galaxy showing one of those previous races DID try to escape the Reapers so because the Andromeda is getting closer the AI is able to jump within 50 years distance of the galaxy knowing full well the next expected wave of colonists will happen maybe every decade as both Galaxies are going to collide so pre-empting THAT destruction was the eventual goal not the Reapers!

That way the Benefactors used Jien's effort to test the tech and they will send the true expedition using agents to eliminate the AI leadership so they can take over.

Jien was killed by mistake since noone expected the Scourge!

Sorry just hope they will explain the story properly instead of thinking Mass Effect 3's ending!

This is now in the EA Access vault. Already!

I've been seeing it on Amazon for $10. Not used copies. New sealed copies for $10.:hehe:

It really didn't hold its value for long.

The price is low enough that I just bought it. I assume it will be alright after I download the billionth patch needed to make it playable. I mean, how bad can it be...:o
