Mass Effect 2

Publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that action role-playing game Mass Effect 2 will be released in “early” 2010, but has so far only confirmed the title for the Xbox 360 and PC.

The first Mass Effect was released in late 2007 as an Xbox 360 exclusive and ported to the PC later the next year. Developer BioWare Corp. always intended the game to be the first part in a trilogy, and a spring 2010 release for the next title has been widely expected by fans for some time.

However, following EA’s acquisition of BioWare in January 2008, the second game was widely assumed to be a multiplatform release -- but EA's announcement mentions only the PC and Xbox 360 platforms.

Although the importing of saved data from the original Xbox 360 or PC games into the sequel could somewhat limit the appeal of a PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect 2, there are no known contractual reasons as to why the series would remain exclusive to the Xbox 360 on consoles.

BioWare recently announced it was forming a new studio group with EA Montreal to support its existing Mass Effect 2 development team in Edmonton, Canada. Few details of the new game have been released, with a recent teaser trailer revealing little new plot or gameplay information.

for our new PS3 players, some tips on resource mining, Uranus is depleted, do not probe Uranus

Did you just finish it or something?

Yup! I kind of rushed through it on casual as a soldier and the end cut-scene and credits coupled with the SUICIDE MISSION theme made get all emotional

ONE OF US ONE OF US!

Glad to see ya liked it! :woot:

Did everyone survive?

Only Boobs and Leonidas AKA Miranda & Grunt. They were holding the line
The truth is that I always assumed Masss Effect was a X-Box & PC exclusive so ending up watching and enjoying lets plays of both games

Then No. 2 gets announced for the PS3  :awesome:
Obviously I was pumped so I downloaded the PSN version from the US store and did a marathon of sorts

I am actually very lucky considering several people are reporting corrupted saves
Will begin a more thorough playthrough soon and may actually have a discussion here on plot events as they occor\\

Going with INFILTRATOR on Veteran difficulty and male shep since the lets play I saw had a fem shep

Are you saying Miranda and Grunt died or that they were the only survivors?

Only Miranda and Grunt survived.

I feel sorry for Shepard, the entire mission was...
""THEY GOT JACK"
"THEY GOT THANE"
TALI NO!
etc.

Oh and if anyone wants to play out the suicide mission as they see fit and control the factors for deaths go to social.bioware.com and check out THE ULTIMATE SUICIDE MISSION GUIDE

Just got an used (but still in good condition) ME2 from eBay, and now I'm trying to rush through ME1 so I can start playing the sequel. However, there are just so many side missions and it's hard to ignore them, and there are collectible quests that imo are very time-consuming. Right now I'm playing the game on Veteran difficulty after finding Normal to be rather easy to play through, but I guess I'll have to leave the higher difficulties behind (which will be unlocked once I finished the game) if I want to play ME2 right away.

Wow......got this for ps3, what an amazing game, I can't stop playing it, too much awesomeness to not play it, I still stand by my vote for game of the year going to red dead redemption though, this game came very close to changing my mind, nonetheless thank god this game came to ps3, the wait for mass effect 3 just intensified

Is it possible to win without any of your companions surviving? I should try to do that sometime...

....Ouch. Loyalty missions pretty much ensure your crew will survive. As long as you give them the right task at end game.

I think you'll need at least two companions to helped you up on the Normandy at the end. Besides that then yeah most of the companions can die.

Which two are those? The one you send back with what's left of the crew and one of the two you take with you for the final part?

I think he means the two that are with you when you fight the last boss.
I'm assuming that Grunt and Miranda were the two teammates he had with him.
The person leading the people back to the Normandy don't always survive.

You can have one hold the line survivor, one Final Boss survivor and will survive the mission
By the way, the Final Boss has a nickname ---> Pants... you'll get it when you see it

I did some loyalty missions such as Thane, Tali, Samara, Jack but no ship upgrades so some died there. Grunt and Miranda were loyal so their combined MASSIVE hold the line score helped them survive

Yeah I meant the ones you take for the human reaper battle since afterwards they will help you when you're struggling to get up on Normandy and Joker is busy shooting at the Collectors. It's possible to just have you, 2 companions and Joker that'll survive the mission. Any less, well I'm not sure, I haven't try.

EDIT: Saw what AnorexicBatman wrote above, I guess it's possible too.

I had everyone loyal but 2 people died, jack died on the ship cause I didn't fully upgrade it, and thane got swept away by the swarm, I'll be sure to not pick Miranda for the biotic bubble shield thing anymore, and I read that if you have any less than 2 survivors at the end, shepherd dies, when he jumps for the ship joker grabs him, but shep tells him to warn people about re reapers then he let's go
