This.

Everyone that's saying this isn't a bad idea/deal will help turn the heads of other developers who will want to do this is it's successful. Then when this becomes more common you'll see the very same people that are cheering this one (because it's MGS) being fairly angry at other devs like EA or Activision for doing it.
Who wouldnt want to see a standalone CoD with 20% of the content available sold in May for $40 before you can buy the full version later that year in November for an additional $60?

Final Fantasy XV isnt coming out anytime soon. Maybe SE could work on getting at least the first 5 hours available to sell while they take their time completing the rest of it

Yeah, I'm not gonna get Ground Zeroes. I'll just wait till the inevitable bundle/Collector's Edition that will be released with MGS V.

I'm really hoping this doesn't catch on. I don't mind episodic content like TWD, but this isn't good.

Uuuuugggghhhh... Sad thing is.. It's ENTIRELY possible if this is successful.

You can get a whole season of The Walking Dead for 20 bucks, and if you are smart you'd never pay more then 15. That is a good amount of content. This GZ thing is ridiculous and it pisses me off, because I was so hyped. Thinking about getting a PS4 early for it and Second Son.

I got my season for 5 on the PSN October Fright Sale.

My brother picked up the first season for around that as well on Steam. Paid $15 for the Wolf Among Us. Just couldn't wait on a Fables game. :D

Let's see what the reviews say, but I've got a bad feeling about this one in terms of value and sales.

I'm not saying it won't be entertaining.. It's just not worth 40 dollars.. Hell I'd even consider buying it at 15... But 40 is just FAR to unreasonable.

I have no doubt it will review well and Im sure I and most here will love it. Its an MGS game produced by Kojima afterall.

Of course, but it'll be interesting to see what the reviews mention about the length and price. I'm expecting that to be a clear bad point in the reviews.

Current-Gen / Next-Gen Comparison:

http://www.konami.jp/mgs5/gz/en/products/compare.html

"Since "METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES" is a multi-platform game, we have taken the opportunity to test the differences in how each version of the game looks and plays. The videos and images below show an overview of these differences, which we hope will help to decide which version is right for you."

It's kind of a no brainier which version is the right one for me. [blackout]Obviously it's the Wii U version[/blackout]

I may get the next gen version if I have a PS4 or Xbone by then, but I'm not going to count it as a big deal if I have to get the PS3 or 360 version by then. I don't care what crap they're selling, the next gen versions are just pretty ports.

Yeah they are just prettier but at that price for what little you get. Who cares, its the biggest rip off of the year

No its not. A port would be them developing the games first on the current gen and then scaling it up for next. Thats not whats happening here. When the Fox engine was introduced and explained, it allows for co-developing across generational platforms. The way this is being approached is different than other recent games which were placed on platforms of varying capabilities. Dont really know how best to explain it.

It was developed for current gen, as in PS3 and 360, and then brought over to the PS4 and Xbox One. The Fox engine basically just makes the process easier, but it's not like the process inherently changes. The game is not being built from the ground for the PS4 and Xbox One, and like most of the cross gen games, the actual differences between the versions will most likely not be all that significant. I've not degrading people for wanting to get those versions since they will be slightly better, but I'm not going to buy into them being something that they aren't despite what Konami or Kojima want to hype up about it.

Eh, it's not as cool as the 'Gunmetal Grey' PS3 bundle they did. Isn't that piece removable, too? I think the FOX logo is on the piece that covers the hard drive.

Do we get anything extra for going with a hard copy of GZ? Or is the content the same digital and retail?

Don't think so, pretty sure the content is the same. Aside from the console exclusive stuff, but I haven't seen anything extra coming with the retail disc copy.
