Yep, that Metal Gear was awesome. I really wish it was canon..

Alas...

Ghost Babel is a non-canon game that serves as an alternate sequel to the events of the original Metal Gear. The game is set seven years after the events of Operation Intrude N313.

Also..It was good..If you can play it in any way..Do so.

Ghost Babel was extremely well received by critics, achieving an average of 95.61% on GameRankings. The game is the 19th best-rated game on the site and is the most critically acclaimed game in the series.[2]
IGN gave Ghost Babel a perfect 10.[3] The game was ranked #11 in Nintendo Power's best Game Boy/Game Boy Color games list, praising the game for successful bring elements from the 3D games. They also thought that the game was better than the previous two 2D installments. GamesRadar listed Ghost Babel as one of the games they want in the 3DS Virtual Console.[4]

Oh, how did I miss that? Quick eBay search shows it's not cheap to find either, but I'll try and a snag a copy. Think I still have my GBA around here...somewhere.

I have a boxed copy of Ghost Babel. It's just called MGS in the UK.

It doesnt play archaic like the original MG games?

Oh, and I've been wondering something recently, out of the blue. I know you can download MGS on the PSN now, which includes the PS3 and Vita, correct? How do they handle the Psycho Mantis fight? Anyone here downloaded and played through it?

You can change your controller settings by holding the PS button

That 4chan cover sounds like helium desperately escaping a human balloon.

Can't say too much, though, as this giant Adam's apple of mine stole away my high notes.

Anyone been following any wild speculation about MGSV going about the internet. There's some fever dream level **** going around. One of which is that this Big Boss is a fake, and to add on to that, there's one that says he must really be....

Gray Fox.

I haven't been following the theories too closely, but I know the one you're talking about. I watched the video.

I saw the news about Hideo looking for a studio to remake the old games.

I was like ":applaud yes!!!" Because I've wanted to see the old Metal Gears be remade.

Then I see "Solid" at the end... :wall:

It's pretty ridiculous. It's a tie between that and that his Big Boss is actually the first BB clone named Vapor Snake. This theory mainly comes because of a very important conversation in PW between BB and Huey where Boss says he prefers real cigars, and doesn't like fake ones because of the vapor. And the fact that Hideo is using the roman numeral for 5 in the game's title.

It doesn't matter, he tweeted later to say he wasn't. It was a mistranslation I think

The only theory I've been reading is how this could be end up being a reboot...but not a full reboot. MGS3, PW and MGSV (obviously) will all still be canon...While MG, MG2, MGS1, MGS2 and MGS4 could be altered drastically...To the point of being written out of canon. One major theory that I wouldn't mind being true is that Solid/Liquid/Solidus won't be clones..But biological Sons of Big Boss.

That of course all stems from Kojima himself saying he would have never brought the Clone aspect into the series and if he could do it all over again he would. The fact that he's already changed a few things adds even more speculation to those theories.

But this "Big Boss" is a fake? That...Would be stupid.

I'm mixed on the idea of them being biological sons. For one, that's three kids that BB would completely...what? Father and abandon? Father without knowledge of them being born? It leads into a lot of different issues that, while small, would make you wonder.

That and I think the clone idea works a little better for the main theme of the series. You can still have that with them being sons, since children are biologically linked to their parents, but to be a clone, you're suppose to be an exact copy, and since the whole idea behind MGS is that we don't have to do or be anything that we're predetermined to be, it rings better. Plus I like the idea that Solid, who is basically the junk, recessive clone of BB, ends up doing the most and being the best. In a way, very inspiring.

But it's not a change that I think makes that much of a different.

Though, as far as twists go, I sure won't be surprised if it turns out that someone is watching BB the whole time, and his actions played perfectly into their hands. Kojima loves pulling that.

I just figured it would work the same way as cloning him did...only taking his little dudes...Somehow..Without knowledge and implanting them into a test tube womb and growing them there. They could still give each child different genes without being a clone. In the end, for me, I like the no clone thing better as it gives me a chance to hopefully be able to play as Solid again without worry of accelerated aging being a factor.

I'm still fairly bitter about only really playing as Solid ONE time through the series..I don't really count "old" Snake as being able to play as Solid..I feel a little cheated out of being able to play as him more.

Even though I like BB better..I still like Snake.

Playing Snake in a game with Otacon as support - both of them working in Philantrophy would be awesome. A whole game like that.

well they weren't exact copies anyway as they technically weren't clones. BB contributed to their DNA but the Snakes did not have the same genetic makeup as him or each other, hence why they all look different. Close but not exact. Not to mention that they had a biological mother who's egg was used and she contributed DNA to them to, (which was different from BB obviously). IA that changing the twist wouldn't make much of a difference as they were closest to biological sons anyway. It would work in a reboot but I don't see the point of changing it within this continuity

They only had mitochondrial DNA from the mother. All phenotypes expresses would be those of Big Boss. Except in the instances of Liquid/Solid having certain allelles manipulated to express dominant/recessive phenotypes (this is where the discrepancy between Liquid and Solid's genomes comes from).
