kararot,

That's a pretty uninspiring response. In this day and age of cinema, nobody is doing anything remotely original. You may get one or two a year. But with these genres, forget it.

We might get original beats. But, the whole won't be original. Just look at how Raimi copied the first three Superman films with this Spider-Man Trilogy.
The fact is it didn't inspire many people in the GA to want to go and see it. Superman the movie will still outsell SR. That is because that movie was pretty spot on and SR is some wacky Singer version. And it was just Superman lifting stuff and using STM as a back story springboard, but changing so many things that no one knows what the hell is going on. It backfired, and the WB is now taking steps to fix the carnage left in it's wake.

Just because Spider-Man made 403 million doesn't mean that it was what the people wanted.

May 2002, with a hero from NYC, after specific events....

...I'm just saying. Having that kind of character come out at the time played a factor, no matter how you spin that. Hell, Raimi pretty much acknowledged that at certain visual points in the film.
Appearantly it was as people went to see it again and again. What you don't get is B.O. is an indicator of satisfaction of the GA to a movie.

Further note: So it's looking less likely we'll ever see that 'Return to Krypton' sequence now? Shouldn't there be a special edition of the movie with that on it? Warner owns that footage, not Singer.
It will probably come out as an SR 1.5 when JLA comes out.

Well.... at least Harris and Dougherty got some rewards for their work before they got the boot.

I hope Darkseid wasn't their first pitch to the studio.

BRAINIAC is what people wanted.

I always thought Darkseid was too much of a stretch for Singer and. co.Brainiac seemed to be more up their alley. I'm more pleasantly surprised than anything that they were planning on upping the anty that much.

I as well thought Brainiac was the alien threat that Singer had alluded to previously, in regards to who Superman would face in the sequel but if it was actually Darkseid, that's pretty damn ambitious.

lol Don't know about Buggs but im happy, and I know somewhere out there Lexlives is happy also lol.... Remember him?
Well I knew a few days after SR release that this was going to happen. Been saying it and been getting attacked for saying it for over a year now. So this is nothing new to me, just confirmation I have been waiting to hear. I am extremely happy, but I am not going to gloat on it as I know there are people here who wanted to see the story continue, and are truly upset. But I think this is the right direction for the WB to do. The people who liked it kept saying it was the serious version of Superman. I thought it was on Par with Superman 4, which was a better film I thought. I did like the characters of Richard and I did like the actor who did Jason, and that was the problem. They out shined the main person in the movie. Singer really messed up. This was his story. His pitch. He had creative control and he blew it. So I place full responsibility on Singer.

I look at SR as a lack luster end to a trilogy S:TM S2 and SR.

I look forward to a new creative team trying something else.

I'm glad we're hearing something about them taking in new writers to pin a script/story. That means that they're NOT giving up on a superman returns sequel just yet. I dont wanna sound desperate, but I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally wanna see Routh play Superman again! He's great!

ps. Will Singer still direct, now that Mike & Dan are both gone, that's the question.

My prediciton-No. Singer is gone. I think he is already gone now, they are just leaking things out months later to soften the blow. I think there is now way in hell Singer is going to work on it. I think if anything there will be a reboot.

Anything is possible, but I don't think there is a chance, no.

Yeah....to me this move seems like a prelude to Singer leaving as well and a new creative team being brought onboard.

WB's should just get Spielberg to direct this thing and be in a partnership with his Dreamworks studio to fund this project.

For cryin out loud.....

I think you might be right, has Singer even said anything about MOS? I just think that if he was going to be directing he would have spoken out about some of the things that have been going on.

Maybe when Singer is done with Valkyrie, we'll hear something from him. When is Valkyrie ending its shootings.

I dont want a reboot, I want a sequel for Returns! It's just dumb not to build what was so beautifully set up in Superman Returns!

SR may be a good and beautiful movie. Unfortunately, money talks here. And the truth is the movie wasn't as successful as WB expected.

Yeah....another reminder of the GREED factor in Hollywood and what the studio heads really care about.

Interesting how the fires are burning away all those overpaid studio stooges and actors homes in so-cal now huh?

Karma is b**ch to the greedy it seems like.....

I'm dissapointed to see Harris and Dougherty won't be penning the follow up, I was amongst the group of Superman Fans that enjoyed the movie. It's a shame things have turned out the way they have. At the same time, I'm optimistic and hopeful for the future of Cinematic Superman.

It's time to leave the Donner Legacy behind and...."go forward".

Unfortunately this GREED factor is in most industries not only in Hollywood. As you can see from my avatar I'm a video game fan. You know how many times I wanted sequels to many great games? a lot. But most of the times it doesn't happen because of the lack of sales of the first tittle.

I hope soon....it doesn't make any sense for this to drag out any further IMO.

Exactly, it is time that Singer spoke up and told us if he was still going to direct MOS or if he was going to walk away, I would like to see MOS but to many things are making that seem highly unlikely. :csad:

so a restart will be? fix the mistakes of SR and MOS will be huge, just as big as any restart

"It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Watch X-Men and then X2, people. SR is to X-men, and we may never see what SR's X2 could've been. If that doesn't make you sad, I don't know what will."

what makes me sad is singer abandoning X3 to brett ratner and making a lackluster SR.

No. It's over. It is now dead.

I'm soo pissed. :cmad:

You still need to calm down. No one has said it's dead. Just because the 2 writers left the project doesn't mean Singer will too. We don't know what going to happend right now, so keep an open mind. Again, lighten up. I like SR, but I ain't going to act like Chicken Little that the sky is falling with Harris & Dougherty out. :oldrazz:
