Days of Future Past The Official Nicholas Hoult/Beast Thread

It's somewhat ironic that Fox has said they're releasing misinformation and that Nicholas Hoult is playing Beast in the same day because not too long ago, I suggested Nicholas Hoult for Proteus.

Just saying.
Sauce?

Like some people has said on other sites, he really reminds James Marsden...

what if he was casted as Cyclops?

I thought that, too. He seems too slim for Beast.

Yeah, I was totally thinking about Hoult as Scott as well. It just makes more sense. He's tall and thin.

I wouldnt mind him for either role, they could do him up as Beast to look the part or he would be a great Cyke, but I was hoping Johnson had got that role.

Yeah, but physical limitations didn't stop Kelsey Grammer... :p

Like I said, these movies are prone to utilize a lot of bodysuits, padding, and prosthetics...It's not even a factor..

It's funny because the first thing I thought when I saw a picture of Nicholas was "Cyclops".
I think he's a fine young actor, I just can't picture him as Beast.

It's all in the voice and personality if you ask me..

Yeah even Benjamin Walker who was much more built would have required that kind of additional help too.

Now that that's in my head, I think it's perfect. Give Beast to Ben Walker and kick Aaron Johnson to the curb and all will be peachy keen in the X-world

i honestly think he will be cyclops and not beast, i just cant see beast looking at him

first off, i hope he bulks up a little for the role. second, i hope he doesn't have the over-sized hands and feet...don't feel that would look good in live-action.

Hoult seems more like Cyclops, tall and lanky, but I suppose he'd also work as Beast

I'm more concerned about Hoult's physical appearance, is he going to bulk up for the role?

He can act, Skins fan, but he doesn't exactly have an athletic frame

*sigh*

Again with the athletic frame!

This ain't Angel. This is the BEAST.

Like I said, in most interpretations, pre-furry Beast's body is so exaggerated and large that no matter how much this guy works out, he'll never get to that size anyway. He may put on 20lbs by the time filming starts to build up his outline, but that's pretty simple to do if it's even necessary.

If they're trying to do this right, Hoult's size shouldn't really be a major concern because he'll most likely have prosthetics anyway. Kelsey Grammer got away with it fine and it worked well since he was clothed most of the time, he was older too and had all that bulk and fur to further accentuate his look.

Aside from the weird-looking forearms muscles, Vinnie Jones'/Juggernaut's body suit looked pretty good on-screen. I would expect something similar to that.

P.S. Did anyone lol at the first pic? Poor Jean... :p

That's true. But I think the worry is that it would need more prosthetics etc to be convincing if the actor has a naturally small/slim frame.

Yes, especially since she said she was giving him the pliers and it was actually a screwdriver. :hehe:

Its not a concern for Hoult's frame. At the end of the day, I dont see a reason for it not to work. But if you were to show me a picture of Hoult and say it has been officially cast as a classmate in X-Men, I would say "Oh he must be Cyclops, because he looks a lot like how I would envision Cyclops.

I don't see that being a reason to worry at all

I still think this guy is Cyclops....but anywho I forgot about giving him a body suit that'll look more "beastly" it's a lot cheaper than adding cgi hands/feet

Oh for the love of God! "Casted" is not a word. It's "cast."
