Switch The Official Nintendo Switch|2 Thread - Part 2

I have never played a Pokemon game in my life.

I thought a new Pokemon just came out? Is another one coming out?

Yes. It sounds like they are splitting it into two main series for the switch. Let's Go, which is more casual friendly and some integration with Pokemon Go. And then there is the mainline game coming this year, which will likely have more traditional Pokemon RPG elements.

Survival horror game adds Switch port.
Friday-13th-Game-NSW_03-04-19.jpg

Friday the 13th: The Game, which is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, is coming to Switch this spring, developer Gun Media announced. It will be ported by Black Tower Studios and published at retail by Nighthawk Interactive.

Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:

Gameplay

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third-person horror, survival game where players take on the role of a teen counselor, or for the first time ever, Jason Voorhees. You and six other unlucky souls will do everything possible to escape and survive while the most well-known killer in the world tracks you down and brutally slaughters you. Friday the 13th: The Game will strive to give every single player the tools to survive, escape or even try to take down the man who cannot be killed. Each and every gameplay session will give you an entirely new chance to prove if you have what it takes not only to survive, but to best the most prolific killer in cinema history, a slasher with more kills than any of his rivals!

Meanwhile, Jason will be given an array of abilities to track, hunt and kill his prey. Stalk from the shadows, scare your targets and kill them when the time is right in as brutal a fashion as you can imagine. Take control of the legendary killer that is Jason Voorhees and terrify those unfortunate enough to cross your path!

Play as Jason Voorhees!

For the first time ever, you will have the opportunity to play as Jason Voorhees, the most famous killer in horror. Stalk your prey, ambush them whenever you see fit and strike fear in the hearts of so many hapless victims as you become the legend himself! Friday the 13th: The Game will include a variety of kills, new and familiar, that will help you set the tone for the Jason Voorhees that you want to be. You’ll even get to unlock various Jason incarnations from the movies!

Jason will be equipped with a terrifying array of abilities, giving you the control of a hunter at the height of his game. These are his woods, and he knows them all too well. Jason will not only feed off the fear of his victims, but will become stronger as the night progresses. The darker the night, the more terrifying Jason becomes!

Fans of the movies will be able to play as various versions of Jason, including:

  • Friday the 13th, Part II
  • Friday the 13th, Part III
  • Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives
  • Friday the 13th, Part VII: New Blood
  • Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
  • Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
How Will You Survive?

The entire focus of Friday the 13th: The Game is multiplayer. Survival is entirely up to you, the player, as you either stealthily hide from Jason or work together as a team to escape or bring the fight to Jason. Playing as a counselor is all about risk and reward, giving players multiple means of triumph over Jason! Want to hide in the woods as you wait for the police? Perhaps you want to band together and try to take on Jason as a group? Maybe you and a friend decide to fix the boat on the lake and escape while leaving everyone else to their fate? There are endless opportunities to survive the night, but every choice has a consequence.

Friday the 13th: The Game will continually set the pace of change, giving you unfamiliar surroundings while Jason Voorhees looks for his latest victim. No single strategy will ever be reliable, forcing players to adapt and change each time they begin their long night in Camp Blood! Be wary, you never know when or where Jason is going to strike!

Play as the Counselors!

We all remember the various tropes from Friday the 13th, and the game will be no exception! Each counselor type will have strengths and weaknesses, affording players the chance to excel in certain situations. Find the counselor that best suits your play style, or come up with various strategies to win against Jason! Players will have the chance to continually update and improve their characters through unlocks, customization and improvement! The more you play, the more you adapt and become a better all-around counselor!

Camp Crystal Lake in All Its Glory!

Mirroring Camp Crystal Lake from the Friday the 13th series, players will try to survive not only in the iconic Camp Crystal Lake, but surrounding area. Iconic locations from the movies, like Higgins Haven will also serve as stalking grounds for Jason and his prey.

Players will be given a large, open area in which to explore as they attempt to hide from certain death! Each gameplay session will fundamentally change the scenario, never affording players the opportunity to learn patterns or figure out where helpful items may be lying. With each movie giving a different feeling to the campgrounds, Friday the 13th: The Gamegives you new and challenging situations every time you enter the woods!

Your Crystal Lake Database

Friday the 13th: The Game will feature a progressive unlock system unified to your account. The longer you play, the more you’ll unlock from counselor customization to new Jason Voorhees costumes seen in the movies! Besides giving you personalized camp counselors, you’ll be able to unlock secrets within Camp Crystal Lake, exploring the mystery surrounding Jason Voorhees and the grounds he patrols!

Be Kind. Rewind.

Every aspect of Friday the 13th: The Game is drawn straight from movies you know and love. We’ve carefully crafted this world to remind you of everything you remember about Friday the 13th, right down to the visual fidelity of the 80s. This is exactly how you remember it.

Thanks, Variety.

Umihara Kawase Fresh! delayed to July 9 in the west
Published 23 hours ago. 8 comments.

No longer due out alongside Japanese release.

Umihara-Kawase-Fresh_03-13-19.jpg

Although previously planned for a simultaneous western and Japanese release on April 25, Umihara Kawase Fresh! will now launch for Switch on July 9 both physically and digitally in North America, and digitally and Europe under the publishing arm of Nicalis. It will cost $39.99.

Here is an overview of the game, via Nicalis:

About

When a young traveling chef named Kawase arrives in the frontier town of Kingness, she finds it to be a perfect real-life replica of a town that she used to dream of as a child. Intrigued, she takes a job as a delivery person and occasional chef for a local restaurant. Through exploration and conversations with the locals, Kawase gradually learns the history of the town, the mysterious castle that floats above it, the dangerous cavern that lurks below it and the unspeakable demons who have terrorized its residents.

In Umihara Kawase Fresh!, Kawase carries a fishing lure with “rubber-band action.” The lure can be used as a grappling hook to swing from platforms, as a winch to raise or lower herself while suspended, as a bungee cord to slingshot herself in any direction and as a weapon to stun or defeat enemies. The lure can also capture enemies and items in the environment, pulling them in to be stored in the infinite space of Kawase’s seemingly magical backpack.

Key Features

  • Large, explorable town expands in all directions as the story unfolds and you gain access to new areas.
  • More than 75 unique quests, each replayable in Time Attack mode, plus unlockable Challenge quests.
  • Collect dozens of unique ingredients and use them to prepare many different recipes, resulting in consumable items that can grant temporary power-ups.
  • A whole town filled with charming, human-like animal characters, many of whom provide information, directions, advice, items, recipes and additional quests to undertake.
  • More than 50 unique enemies, some of which can be captured and used as ingredients in special recipes, plus boss characters.
  • Purchase ingredients from the Shop, or visit the Library to read about the items you’ve found and the enemies you’ve faced.
  • Unlockable alternate playable characters.

MUTANT YEAR ZERO: ROAD TO EDEN - DELUXE EDITION Might Be Coming To Nintendo Switch

Although Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in December, Nintendo Switch owners are still patiently waiting for their turn to play the acclaimed X-COM-esque title.

According to GameFly, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden - Deluxe Edition will be indeed coming to Switch on June 25, 2019. Given that GameFly has been a pretty reliable source in the past, there's a rather big chance that the updated listing is accurate. Mutant is set in a "post-human" world which has been destroyed during the nuclear holocaust, with hybrids fighting for survival in the hostile environment.

There's no denying that Road to Eden was one of the biggest surprises of 2018, as The Bearded Ladies' first major project is currently siting at a perfectly fine 80% score on Metacritic. It looks like turn-based tactical video game's Deluxe Edition will include not only the base game, but also Stalker Trials, a new challenge mode that populates a selection of Mutant's huge maps with different types of enemies.

At the time of writing, Funcom had not revealed any plans to bring Mutant Year Zero to Switch.

A tactical adventure game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with story, exploration, stealth, and strategy. Take control of a team of Mutants navigating a post-human Earth. Created by a team including former HITMAN leads and the designer of PAYDAY.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW!

Nintendo Developers Reveal The Challenges They Face Every Time They Unveil A New Console

A recent interview with Shinya Takahashi and Hisashi Nogami from Nintendo, has revealed some of the challenges the developers have had to face every time they unveil a new console.

The Nintendo Switch has been one of, if not, the most popular and successful consoles Nintendo has ever created; currently on its way to becoming their best-selling console sicne the acclaimed Nintendo DS.

All of this success doesn't come with a few failures, however, sicne Nintendo has seen its fair amount of failures over the years — with the Virtual Boy and the Wii U amongst the most disappointing consoles ever made. The problem? Mainly how gimmicky they were and how poorly executed this gimmick was.

Anyone familiar with Nintendo knows that the company always strives to innovate. In fact, was it not for Nintendo, other consoles wouldn't even have a proper controller, as most of the ideas in current-gen controllers have come, in one way or the other, from The Big N.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Nintendo's Shinya Takahashi and Hisashi Nogami have revealed some of the challenges they've had to face every time they unveil a new console; especially the reactions they got from the people that played on said consoles for the first time.

"We are now living in the age of the internet and social media, so whenever we release a new game or console, we can get a read on people’s reactions immediately – but in the past we could not. What we used to do was look at people’s faces while they are playing", reveals Takahashi while also mentioning that people's faces were very telling when it came to know whether their product was good.

"When I was younger, when the games I was involved with were eventually released, I would go to some of the toy stores and sneak a look at people’s faces while they played. If people looked surprised or happy, if they laughed, I’d think: yes, we did it!"

As mentioned earlier, the Wii U was a fail for the company — which made them doubt the concept of the Nintendo Switch at first — but they were soon relieved to find out that people were loving their experience with Nintendo's handheld hybrid console.

"Before the Switch came out, it was very difficult to explain something unprecedented - a game console that you can play in your house and also carry around with you to play anywhere. But after people started experiencing that, they started talking among themselves. That was when the Switch was flipped, so to speak."

Hisashi Nogami — who has been with Nintendo since 1994, and has even worked on the critically acclaimed Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, as well as producing the Animal Crossing and Splatoon series — adds to Takahashi's sayings by jokingly revealing that "It never gets any easier. With anything new it’s the unknown, and people don’t like trying unknown things – they’re always going to be a bit hesitant."

It is really interesting to see that even the developers themselves have always had their fair share of doubts regarding the unveiling of new, and innovative consoles. Thankfully, the Nintendo Switch has proven to be a massive hit, and hopefully they'll continue to deliver the same quality that fans have come to expect from the company in future consoles.

Cuphead is officially coming to Switch in April. MS and Nintendo continue to be buddy-buddy.

Master Blaster Zero 2 is out now!!! Woohoo!!

Some other neat games in there. Including a psuedo Zelda game. Where you can play as Zelda.

I loved the first Blaster Master Zero, so I'll definitely buy the 2nd. Plus, I can't stop playing Metroidvanias. The Switch is becoming a pure Metroidvania console for me. :hehe:

As for that Zelda game, it's basically just a new NecroDancer game with a Zelda pallet. I've never played NecroDancer, but have been told I would like it, since I dig rougelike dungeon crawlers. So I'll look into this when it comes out. Graphically, it looks great.

Earlier this month, Nintendo revealed that they were joining the virtual reality craze with their newest Nintendo Labo Kit, very appropriately called Nintendo Labo - Toy-Con 04: VR Kit; something that Nintendo fans have been wanting for a while.

The announcement wasn't much of an announcement per se, though, since the new VR Kit suddenly popped up on their official Nintendo Labo website but they didn't really tell anyone about it. What we did learn, however, was that this brand-new kit would be releasing on the 12th of April — as well as a little bit about the accessories it would be including.

Well, today Nintendo has finally released a video for the Nintendo Labo - Toy-Con 04: VR Kit, showing off the brand-new constructs the kit will be including, the VR goggles needed for the virtual reality experience, and the Labo games this kit will be including.

The Nintendo Labo - Toy-Con 04: VR Kit looks like it could be a great idea if executed properly, especially if Nintendo decides to go the extra mile and incorporate this new VR kit into some of their other intellectual properties liek Mario Kart or The Legend of Zelda. As of now, we'll have to wait for more announcements, but this new VR Kit looks way more promising now that we've seen the constructs in action.

Take a look:

Stop an alien invasion, paint like an elephant, create your own VR games, and more! Nintendo Labo: VR Kit combines the innovative physical and digital gameplay of Nintendo Labo with basic VR technology to create a simple and shareable virtual reality experience for kids and families. Watch the full video to see what else you can do with the Nintendo Labo: VR Kit

Nintendo Labo - Toy-Con 04: VR Kit will become available on the 12th of April.

Due out on June 25.

Mutant-Year-Zero_03-20-19.jpg

Publisher Funcom and developer The Bearded Ladies have announced Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Deluxe Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch. It will launch at retail on June 25 for $39.99.

The Deluxe Edition will include an expansion downloadable content that will also be available as an individual purchase for users who already own the December 2018-released, digital-only Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC. It will also mark the game’s first appearance on Switch.

Here is an overview of the game, via Funcom:

About

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a tactical adventure game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with story, exploration, stealth, and strategy. Take control of a team of Mutants navigating a post-human Earth. Created by a team including former Hitman leads and the designer of Payday.

Key Features

  • Tactical Combat: Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is the ultimate fix for your tactical strategy addiction. Dive into a deep, turn-based, tactical combat system inspired by the XCOM games.
  • Explore a Post-Human Earth: Journey through a post-human world of abandoned cities, crumbling highways, and overgrown countryside. Check back at the Ark, a neon-bathed oasis of ill repute and questionable characters, to restock your supplies and plan out your next adventure.
  • Control a Team of Mutants: A duck with an attitude problem and a boar with anger issues; these aren’t your typical heroes. Get to know Dux, Bormin, Selma, and many other characters each with their own unique personality and deranged perspective on the world and their situation.
  • Master the Stealthy Approach: Sneak through shadows to avoid conflict or to catch enemies unaware. Real-time stealth allows you full control of approach: sneak into an enemy camp, position the team of Mutants to your advantage, and gain the element of surprise.
  • Unlock Mutations: Unlock new mutations and abilities for your Mutants, such as Selma’s Stoneskin, Bormin’s Charge, and Dux‘ uncanny ability to sneak into a camp full of enemies unnoticed, despite being a 4-foot tall walking, talking duck with a crossbow.
  • Dynamic Environments: Use the environment to your advantage. Stay out of floodlights, hide from line of sight, or just blast down fully destructible walls and buildings and wreak utter havoc.
  • Loot, Loot Everywhere: From makeshift slingshots to high-powered rifles and top hats to police vests, make sure you equip your Mutants for the dangers ahead. Nothing says post-human quite like a mutated boar in spiked metal armor charging at you with a blunderbuss in his hands.

First Professor Layton game coming to Switch?

Layton-Curious-Village-Switch_03-24-19.jpg

Video game localization company G4F Localisation has listed work on a Switch version of Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

According the company, it provided “additional translation for the Nintendo Switch version in French by G4F, and Italian, German, and Spanish by Native Prime.”

The company previously did translation work for Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionare’s Conspiracy. It is worth noting that it also lists the Switch version of that game, which has yet to be announced for the west, but has been leaked by the German USK.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village first launched for DS in 2007, followed by iOS and Android in 2018.

what are the chances Nintendo releases a more powerful "Pro" version of the Switch? do you think it's likely?

cuz right now, I'm very much on the fence about selling my Switch. outside of the initial months in 2017, I've barely used my Switch at all.

Not likely. All the rumors point to a more optimized portable version.

>>>Wall Street Journal: Nintendo to release two new Switch models as early as summer<<<
Published 5 hours ago. 91 comments.
High-end and casual models reportedly planned.

Switch-WSJ_03-25-19.jpg

Nintendo will release two new versions of Switch as early as summer, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing “people familiar with the matter,” which follows up on a report from October 2018.

One new version will have enhanced features targeted at avid gamers, but is not as powerful as PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X, the publication said citing “parts suppliers and software developers for Nintendo who have early access to a prototype of the machine.” The other version is said to be a cheaper option for casual gamers that Nintendo sees as a successor to 3DS.

“You would be wrong to think the enhanced version is similar to what Sony did with PS4 Pro and the other is just a cheap alternative that looks very similar to some past hand-held machines, say, Sony’s PlayStation Vita,” a source told The Wall Street Journal.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that people who have seen the two new versions of Switch said their designs are “different from the original and you’d be surprised.”

well, if there's a more powerful Switch coming out, I may wait and just trade in my current Switch for the new one.

I guess because they announced the switch so early they will have to do something when everybody else levels up with new consoles.

I’m not trading in though. I love my little switch
