The Official Previews Thread

The Winick stuff gets better with time. It's almost sad to read now, given how far downhill Winick's gone lately.

I read a couple issues of it and ditched it. In that case, I just wasn't really into his "bold re-imagining" of the Captain Marvel powers. His Green Arrow and Outsiders were utterly horrendous when I quit reading them, however, and I hear they haven't gotten any better since.

Wonder if they'll re-tool Capt. Marvel to look like Dwayne Johnson when The Rock decides to play him on-screen?

Just a thought.

I just dropped Outsiders, it was going nowhere, fast. I love the Marvel Family so I'm def diggin the story. I also love mythology so seeing all these Gods in today's world is pretty cool.

I love mythology too, but I like it in its own context. I hate seeing people reduce gods to humans just for the sake of making them look quirky.

I doubt it. Superman doesn't look more like Brandon Routh and Batman doesn't look like Christian Bale.

alright.ultimates is shaped up and ready to go.............after a year or somthin? anyways, still looks good, those first few panels had me semi disopointed about what was really going on.

Oh yeah. Rainbow Brite is gonna kick some muthafokin' ASS.

...Or, y'know, at least that's what it looks like.

Eight months, actually. But close enough.

It actually has been a year between issues of All-Star Batman. That's, like, BATTLE CHASERS late.

Rainbow bridges. Lovely. I guess Millar is looking forward to Obama in 2008.

The hippie allegories seem so easy right now they couldn't possibly be intentional...so, knowing Millar, they probably are. In any other book, I'd just shrug it off as me overthinking things. In this book, those kinds of allegories practically make the story.

I'll say this for Millar, though; it's very clever.

(And, yes, 616 Thor had rainbows too but they...didn't quite spring forth to do battle with his enemies. This is, like, blatant)

Most times when a book is this late I dig up my previous issues and reread the last few to catch up, but honestly, not this time. Past issues would just remind me of the countless pages he wasted on political propaganda and that's not the best thing to do. I'm just glad to see it actually end.

The Ultimate line is obviously the odd franchise out now, having been sucked dry of all of it's ideas (good and bad) and all of their A-List creators having moved onto 616 (for better or worse), all of their books have dipped in quality and I seriously have to think about whether ULTIMATES 3 gets a shot. Loeb's Marvel work at best has left a LOT to be desired overall from what I have skimmed. His WOLVERINE arc is on shakey ground and ONSLAUGHT REBORN is an abomination.

i must admit..onslaught reborn is a travesty..i really liked the original story too..

what a waste.

double post.

hit the button twice by accident..wow its sensitive!

I mean...it's not like there's a RAINBOW BRIDGE OF ASGARD or anything like that...right?

...oh...wait...

I'll never understand the business decision to put Liefeld back on a Heroes Reborn project. It's not a fan favorite project. People hated the Avengers under his tenure, and Marvel ditched him for it. Now they put him back on it? And he agreed? That's like one big WTF moment.

...No offense or anything, but which part of "616 Thor had rainbows too but they didn't quite spring forth to do battle with his enemies" did I lose you on?

I think its transporting thor to the battle.wheir is the ultimates thread anyways?.

The part where you started comparing Ultimate with 616 when we ALL know they are a part of vastly different continuities. Not to mention the fact that it's Thor and I think the rainbow bridge is there for the other Norse Gods to come down from Asgard.

Me neither, Loeb is good as the writer, but bringing Liefeld on as the artist is just asking for heroes Reborn to flop. Heroes Reborn was not a great success the first time around, so if they wanted to bring it back 10 years later they should've got a top notch artist to do the art, somebody like Ed McGuiness.
