Anyone seen that Amazon UK has the PS4 up for pre-order for £599.99 with the games going for £89.99.

I'm hoping that is them guessing or putting up a guide price because those are ridiculous amounts.

It and all other numbers are an overestimation. You can't put something up for preorder and then raise the price on those preorders, but you can decrease it which will likely happen when Sony releases the official numbers. I wouldn't worry too much till that happens as retailers need to have something down in order for most of their systems to process a preorder

Yeah, that just can't be right. I pay for most games £35-45 now. No way are they going to double the price for the next generation.

Yeah, I don't know what the exchange rate is, but here most new games come out at $59.99, and Sony has already come out and said that that won't change.

Who can afford those kind of prices lol. Imagine $137 for a 5 hour campaign. :woot:

I don't think there will be any increase at all.

Well...Now Ol' Bobby K will try to figure out how to make the next Call of Duty cost that amount.

Oh, good Ol' Bobby K.

Is there any other Video Game exec that deserves a punch in the face more than him? :o

For all the negatives aimed at those guys (most of which I agree with lol), the people who play almost exclusively CoD all year round are probably getting $137 of value out of that disc. :woot: :csad:

I'm so going to celebrate the day the CoD craze dies.

I don't think it would ever have happened last gen however long it would have gone on for but if they don't up their game with Ghosts & its successors I believe there will be a gap for the competition to take advantage of.

I don't hate COD like other people do, but I just hate a lot of Kotick's comments and how smug he gets. He's completely honest on how much he wants to screw over consumers.

I actually like that honesty although I don't like the smugness. He's got lucky rather than been a gaming visionary who deserved all those billions. And I wouldn't mind being screwed if he would advance the game to a market leading standard every year. No excuse for the biggest selling series of the last few years to not be as good technically (should really be the best) as the other best games out there & for improvements year to year to be almost unnoticeable.

Come to think of it, is there any other entertainment industry that activetly tries to and does screw over consumers worse than the video game industry?

I don't think that's gonna happen. If that happens I won't get one, I'm not a sheep follower like the rest and this comment made me happy.:

"Oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don't want to connect to anyone else, you can do that."

Yes Thanks Sony.

DC Universe Online producer: PS4 should 'be a great platform for MMOs'

DC Universe Online producer Larry Liberty recently shared some interesting insights about SOE's cross-platform superhero MMO with NowGamer.

The PlayStation 3 version of the game features a userbase that skews younger than its PC counterpart, and Liberty says that DCUO is the first MMO experience for many PS3 players. He also mentions that PC players appear to be more comfortable with traditional MMO gameplay like guilds, groups, and raids. In terms of the eternal controller vs. keyboard/mouse debate, Liberty says he prefers the former. That said, "the top three finishers in our first-ever DC Universe Online Legends PvP Tournament at SOE Live last year used the keyboard/mouse setup," he explained.

Finally, Liberty says he expects the recently announced PlayStation 4 to "be a great platform for MMOs."

I'll be honest, I do want to see COD taken down a peg, but that's purely because I want to see more deserving games get a day in the sun. You like what you like, and I have np with ppl liking COD, it's not my business, nor place. Even though I liked 4's campaign, and MP, anymore it feels like just another FPS in a very vast ocean of FPS's. They've really overexposed the series, IMO. Even if it sounds petty, any of the ill will I have towards COD tends to be because I have trouble understanding how it still gets treated as the spectacle of the year in gaming news, and still ends up being a #1 seller by far. While some truly spectacular games wallow around hoping for enough scraps to make their investment back.

That said, I do try to avoid trashing COD anymore. The people who like it like it, and I'd be a hypocrit to tell them they're wrong as we all have the right to like whatever. So most of the time I do like what you were saying, and only comment on things Activision does, and things Kotick says. He's said some pretty arrogant things, and is pretty brazen with basically telling the customers how he's using them. I guess you could admire the honesty, but it just ticks me off a bit, lol. So I have np on calling out bad, or disgusting business practices.

I love DC Universe Online on the PS3, but with so many games to play I sometimes neglect it, it was/is kinda my first MMO.

I once thought the stupid music game fad wouldn't ever die...It did however. People will eventually grow tired of FPS' in general I think.

I hope so, then when people least expect it Half-Life will return! :D

With the RAM upgrade, now's the perfect time for MMO's to take a bigger step on home consoles. The cache builds up pretty easy on DCUO on PS3, and things load in a little slow at times. I'm not sure if the graphics card has been revealed yet, but the PS4 should be able to comfortably play a lot of modern MMO's.

In fact, I'll be surprised if a SOE MMO isn't announced either this E3, or the next (or sometimes inbetween there). Since DCUO is still going strong, my guess would be Everquest 3. Since PS3 allowed keyboard, and mouse (but it was up to the developers to allow it in their game), I see no reason the PS4 won't allow it either. So controls needing to be more complex is taken out of the equation, the hardware is beefier, and Sony seems pro MMO.

As a side note, I remember reading somewhere (it might have been the Gameinformer article) that Sony was really reaching out to indies, as well as the free to play environment. So I'm sure DCUO, and Free Realms will have a few more free to play games join them on the PSN next gen.

I dunno...But when Blizzard came out on stage at the Sony conference...I just "felt" like we'd see one of their MMO's on the console. Be it WoW or a new one..
