Sony, No Next Gen Racer, or Fighter, or multiplayer game from Respawn For You!!

No Maximus Gladiator For You!

Oh, and Sony, No Next Gen Zombies For You!!

Again, tripping!

I'm sure all the jealous Sony fanboys would like to say so, buuuuuuut I have friends who have played the game, it's combat controls are pretty much the same as the Batman Arkham games, so yes, Roman Gladiator game is very much kick ass: CONFIRMED. ;)

Off to a fantastic start on SHH! I must say :whatever:

So who else plans to go digital?,I don't mean just PSN games But full new games instead of going to a retailer for a physical disc?

I've been wanting to go more digital on my PS3(well in general too)But the downloading times is a huge turn off and so I just buy or rent most games,PS4's "play&download"feature changes a lot of things now.

Some big games I might still pre-order at GameStop like I have Battlefield 4 cause of pre-order exclusives/free early acess DLC But I'll probably buy some games from the PS Store too and defiantly will be downloading A LOT more PSN games and demos.

PS3 (The last couple months, Uncharted, the medium's really taken off exponentially)
Dreamcast (NFL 2k. Nuff said. Best launch game ever.)
N64 (Blitz? Smash? The jump into 3d was huge. Id never yet had such a bomb ass system.)
PC (It's the games I grew up playing (even some learning games like Gizmo gadget, Math Blasters) Counterstrike, Dark Forces, Episode I:The Phantom Menace (not amazing, but I was a kid, and I was IN the experience, haha etc.)

But I'm already stoked for the next generation, and GTA V is the perfect way for this generation to go out.

My plan is to go mostly digital, and getting a phsyical disc for a few select titles that I really just want on my shelf.

I still prefer physical media and most of the time rarely go to a retailer to get physical items, Amazon is my friend. I only purchase digital when there is a really good sale or something that is completely free.

This.

This is how I've been doing things with my Vita and, when I can, my PS3 for the past year or so. Trouble is on the PS3 side of things, publishers are setting ridiculous prices for their content. Games should be £40 new (ignoring the argument that cutting out the distribution means it should be even cheaper), but EA charges £60 for new releases while everyone else pretty much sets the bar at £50 at the moment.

I really hope that isn't a thing with PS4. I want to go all-digital on that system but it may not be a reality.

Im fine with games staying the same price that they are now bc physical copies go on sale MUCH more frequently than digital games and they carry the ability to sell/trade to make a profit towards a new choice. With digital games, Im stuck with the game even if I don't like it or know I likely wont touch it again. A game has to be REALLY, REALLY cheap for me to consider to buy it digital and that definetly isn't day 1 material. Its why my digital purchases are primarily for PSN titles or old releases from previous gens

I don't really buy many retail titles digitally. The main issue for me is lack of space as I've filled a 320GB hard drive with just retail DLC & arcade games, never mind retail game installs. And next gen starting out at 500GB with the prospect of much bigger games is a joke. I'd have to uninstall tonnes of games to download new ones.

Or get a bigger HD. My plan is to up to maybe a 1TB HD shortly after launch.

I'm going to need 10TB :yay:

I don't like downloading & deleting or worrying about space (as I have to now). If I'm going to get a digital game I want it to be there for good, not to have to redownload it to replay it. And if I downloaded all my current retail 360 games I'd probably need 3TB. I definitely want just one HD where everything can be accessed from & if this gen is going to be almost a decade with games that are much bigger I can't go digital without that option. If some system allows me to use a HUGE external HD and digital prices become more sensible I'd then think about going fully digital (which would be great for reducing clutter) with the exception of my favourite games that I want to display on shelves.

The HDD's are still gonna be laptop HDD's right? If so I may be getting this after the first of the year...

When I do, most of my purchases will be digital..More so if they do what Nintendo does from time to time and they allow you to purchase the digital copy a day before retail. I'll still get physical disks, more so for games like Destiny..Just because I'm a HUGE Bungie fan and it would look good with the rest of my Bungie stuff.

I'm still getting by on an 80gb drive with no problems. I think 500 gb will last me a good long time.

...You know..I may have a 500gb HDD just laying around here some where. How big is the PS4's HDD again?

If you plan on getting Plus that 500gb will fill up rather fast
Just out of interest, any idea roughly how many GBs all the Plus games to date would take up?

Maybe it's because I'mnot sure of all the ttechnical mubo jumbo.. But.. Why are people freaking out over this?

http://m.gamespot.com/news/playstation-4-will-reserve-35gb-of-its-8gb-ram-for-the-os-report-6412101

If I understand correctly, a lot of people citing that the PS4 would be significantly strong than the Xbone were saying so because of the difference in RAM. Now, with this announcement, it basically puts the consoles on even footing, at least in the RAM department.

I don't know for sure, this is mainly what I gathered from responses. I don't know much about all this stuff myself.

keep in mind that this is still unconfirmed. Their sources are all the same place, digitalfoundry.
i don't see the big deal either bc most were surprised by the 8gb announcement and felt it was may more than the system needed. This if true guarantees that the system will run smoothly. No more waiting for the XMB or trophies to load up. It'll be easier and faster to launch between apps and we should get an improved browser as well as new features like party chat. It makes sense that ram would be reserved for this. It also gives them the freedom to add new features later in the life cycle that they haven't thought of now, which was a limitation with the PS3

Lack of RAM won't hinder the system right out of the gate, well, except for those who suck at optimization, but years later it will be a problem, especially when competing with the PC and PC versions of games. It makes little sense considering the PS4 only got bumped from 4 GB to 8 GB this year, the first-party developers were even in the dark up until around the announcement time.

Apparently a Sony insider at NeoGaf is calling this absolute BS that started in Edge and was never a confirmed rumor. This Unconfirmed Insider is the same guy that called Sony's E3 show to a T so while he's unconfirmed...Everything he's said has been right.

Also, they have another dev that said he can't comment on it.

Known Sony insider Verendus on neogaf statement about the rumor.

1. They're wrong. They should get better sources, or at least attempt a better analysis.

2. OS matters are a bit more complicated than how this is being portrayed.

Another post on neogaf from a person claiming to have contact with a dev.

Here's the deal...somewhat. From a dev at one of the biggest in the industry. Just a messenger here.

Dev still a little cagey to give out 100% concrete numbers unfortunately like I was previously told, but these are supposed to be the closest to detailed info on the OS footprint:

-At most, the OS uses 1.5GB, with a good amount of that helping the HD recording feature and on the fly switching/ multi tasking
-4.5GB is indeed about what's available for devs at present.
-1GB is set aside for futureproofing OS operations down the line.
-1GB for developer reserve, should they need it

And finally as an important point, I'm being told the faster RAM in the PS4 does in fact make a huge difference.

EDIT: And another from Verendus;

"Sony is playing it very safe for launch units. Things like clock rates, OS size, and memory allotments are conservative for a reason. Sony does not want to be in a position where they will lose out on a killer feature or find themselves in a position where there is zero room to grow. I wouldn't be surprised if year 3 or 4 of the PS4's life cycle you see a patch to upclock the GPU.

Upclocking the PS4's GPU 200 mhz more would yield a 2.3 TF machine.

As of this moment, not a single developer has complained about "too little RAM". Most developers are very happy by not only the quantity, but the speed of RAM. As we enter the third year of the machine, the OS size will shrink and things will become less bloated.

Let things play their part and STOP overreacting. Some of you have zero idea how well designed and balanced the PS4 is."

The video recording was going to use a lot of RAM. I wondered about how they were going to stuff that into the 1 GB unconfirmed figure OS before, though I liked the idea of 7 GB for futureproofing purposes for games more than video sharing.
