Oh another thing and I know iv asked this before, but do most of you keep your PS4 in standby mode? And where is your PS4 situated within your room.

My PS4 sits inside my entertainment unit, behind a little glass door. Now when im playing ill usually open that door to let some air in, but when its not in use that door is usually closed. Are all of yours in the open, or do any of you have yours in like some sort of ent unit?

I leave mine in Standby. I like being able to buy something while I'm at work and have it start downloading, and most of the time I turn it on and everything is updated for me (depends when an update was pushed, I think it only checks once a day).

Mine is in the open, though it uses such little power via Standby that I'm sure you'll be fine.

Just hit the Share button on your controller. The default setting will open the Share menu where you can check out the video you just saved and the screenshot you just took.

There is an option to change the Share button to "Easy Screenshots" where one tap of the Share button will just take a screenshot, not open the menu.

Oh cool. Thanks for the info

I usually just power mine down completely when I'm done using it. I only keep it in standby if I need to charge my controllers. And mine is in an open space, full ventilation at all times.

Yea thats what I do with my Xbox One, but its out in the open, my PS4 is inside my entertainment unit, thats the only thing i was a little worried about when it came to leaving it in standby mode.

How long does boot up take from a full power off state?

never timed it.

but it's pretty fast.

I'd say about a minute ( maybe less, maybe slightly more ).

I'm going to time it tonight when I use it, cuz now I'm curious......lol

Also can you upload em to a hosting service? All im seeing is twitter and Facebook. Is that what the Share factory is for?

You can only direct-upload to Twitter and Facebook right now (Twitter is the better option, you can get a full res version of the shot). I believe this last updated added the option to move the files to a USB device so you can move them to your computer.

Another sideways way to get the screenshot is to send it in a message to someone and then open the Playstation app on your phone and open the message, you can save the screenshot to your phone from there and do what you want with it.

Share Factory is the new video editing tool they just added. Let's you combine clips, add music, narration, etc..

I keep my PS4 on a shelf, in an open space. and I turn it off completely when I'm not using it.

I only leave it in standby mode if I'm downloading/updating something.

I only leave in standby when downloading something too bit usually power it down,Standby mode is awesome though and either way is fast

speaking of powering the PS4 down, is there a way to power it down ( shut it off completely ) just by pressing the power button?

I know if you press the power button, it goes to stand by. but, say if you press and hold the power button, will that actually shut the PS4 off?

I asked my friend to do this with me a few weeks ago. My time was 26.3 seconds and his was like 26.2. Lucky bastard :hehe:

yep. Just timed it. It was about 26s, too.

From full powered down state? Wow thats pretty good. I know the XB1 takes like a minute and a half once you do a hard turn off, but from standby mode its a few seconds.

I might end up just turning my PS4 off since its not in nearly as well ventilated a spot as my One.

yep. it took about 26s to go from being completely turned off to loading the dashboard or main screen and me being able to navigate the UI and click on a game to start playing it.

took maybe several seconds longer for the Notifications to all load.

so, all in all, about 30s.

it definitely is fast!

Does it make sense to really power it off as opposed to leaving it standby though?

well, I suppose it depends on how often you use/turn on the PS4?

if you use it every day or fairly frequently, then perhaps it may make more sense to just leave it on standby.

in my case, I do most of my gaming on Fridays and Saturdays, so it doesn't really make sense for me to leave it on standby during the week.

I mean I leave most of my **** on standby or low power just so it can download stuff overnight.

So how exactly do you take screen shots? Is that through an in game option or another way?

Also can you upload em to a hosting service? All im seeing is twitter and Facebook. Is that what the Share factory is for?
Another thing, while gaming you can tap the share button twice to start recording, and then once to stop, and then save the video. That way you can get a more specific, focused recording instead of just the last 15 minutes or whatever

Yea I tested it out myself and it's fast as hell. I left it in standby last night tho and checked this morning and there really was very very little heat coming off the system. So like strainedeyes said, it uses such little energy in that state I don't think it matters too much.

I'm also impressed by how fast the games load, in general.

and I like that you can download updates in the background, and that you can start playing a game even while it's updating.

I only have mine on standby as its at home so I use my Vita to remotely play it at my dormroom, otherwise I would turn it off when done with it. It boots so fast I don't need it on standby, I call standby "Vita mode." :p

You obviously haven't played MLB 2014 haha.

I LOVE that game, but christ does it take forever to load in and out of game modes.

Yea that's always been the case with the show. Large install too, I think it's 40 gigs

Yea most sports games seem to suffer from that from my experience. Yea it was a pretty big install but it actually went a LOT faster than I thought it would. Think i was able to download it in just over an hour.
