Well, I'm sure they'll get around to it, but I think it's too little too late. They won't sell as well, and it's not going to move as many consoles.

They'll still make money (presumably), but not as much as they could have.

Who wants GTA V for 60 dollars, a year later?

that's why they are working on PS Now. Why pour money and resources into porting and packaging a bunch of old titles when they have this service that they are pushing to bring the games to PS4 gamers? This is a platform they are wanting to launch into the future and expand upon. No one knows if it will catch on and work the way they are banking on, its where they plan on heading and they are clear with this vision. If it does work out, this subscription based digital service will likely bank them more money in the long run

Damn, I was gonna mention PS Now, but yeah. Hopefully it works well and the pricing doesn't suck.

I see that as a bad move, at least for these games.

Ideally GTA V should have been available for the PS4, the same day it was available for the PS3. Even a few month delay would have been acceptable. Sony should have moved on that. Obviously a port can be done fairly quickly.

Most of the people who have bought GTA V have already bought it. Who wants to buy the game a year later for the original price? A game they can't sell or trade in, I might add.

They could have actually used it to move consoles if they had released it last year.

I think you are underestimating what it takes to do a port. It varies by game and platform. Trust and believe if they could have quickly turned it out, 2K would have released GTA V on the PS4. Problem is that likely wasn't a possibility. Theres a reason why the GTA games get ported to the PC months to a year down the line. There is a lot that goes into that. There main focus has always been on the consoles and in this case the PS3/360. A simultaneous release with the next gen consoles likely would have meant delaying it into sometime this year

And that's just GTA V. TLoU developers have talked about the issues they have had with port over that to the PS4 and the problem seems to come from having difficulties fitting it all on one disk. Game developing isn't as simplified as you appear to be making it out to be. To go from one platform to another which was not in your original development of said game, takes time and work, which will be a lot more tasking for games with a much larger scope such as GTA for example

Like was done with TR and soon TLoU? Didn't you say TR made money. I can guarantee you TLoU will.

Besides what makes you think a PS Now edition of GTA V will cost the original $60 price? I have no idea what the pricing structure will be but I can almost guarantee you it wont be like that.

Well you may be right about me underestimating what it takes. But it is doable, and other games have been ported relatively quickly (Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed 4). The question is, did they allocate the resources? Was it a priority? I don't blame Rockstar for this. This should have been Sony's initiative.

As for why I think it'll be 60 dollars... I don't see why it wouldn't be. The Last of Us for PS4 will be 60 dollars. I think they'll try to charge whatever they can get away with.

I am sure they will make some money on it. But it'll be a pittance compared to what it would have been last year.

AC IV's development with the current and last gen consoles happened simultaneous. Its not the same type of porting job as releasing on a console and then worrying about how you are going to get it to work on the next. And it as well as Tomb Raider both released PC versions, which made it much easier bc the PS4 and X1s hardware is built around PC tech. Taking a game that that has no PC version like GTA V and TLoU is going to be more difficult and time consuming, especially when taking into account issues with the complex Cell processor. Any first party Sony title is going to have that issue bc their games typically were not released on the PC

When you pre-order a game digitally and have your console on stand by does the game automatically download on the date&time it says or do we have to go into the stores ourselves and manually download?

Just pre ordered UFC

It should download automatically....should....in theory...should...

Well hopefully someone with experience with it can confirm it

Lol, Sony doesn't have any control over that ****. Rockstar is pretty infamous now for doing whatever the hell they want.

There's a new app for Live E3 coverage, looks it could be awesome, different cool things

are there any free apps to watch anime?

and by free, I mean you don't have to subscribe.

Anime isn't my jam, so I'm no expert, but I believe Crackle has an Anime selection.

EDIT: There's also Crunchyroll, which seems like a better option. I don't know if that requires a subscription. But Crackle is free.

As I was certain it would happen, I sold my ps3 copy two months ago. I'm waiting for details about GTAO now. I'm sure it will allow us to freeroam with 32 persons instead of 16.

The thing about Sony is that they would definitely be missing an opportunity if they didn't release more PS3 ports to PS4, especially considering that there was a good amount of people who switched from Xbox 360 to PS4.

Hey, I know I did. As someone who made the switch from 360 to PS4, a next-gen port of The Last of Us was a MAJOR selling point for me.

EDIT: Also, I'll be selling my 360 copy of GTA V ASAP to get ready for the PS4 version. It may be double buying but it's not like jumping from a PS3 copy to PS4. I don't really see myself playing the 360 again.

Looks like PS Now will start as a rental service and maybe offer a subscription down the line.

That's disappointing. I thought it would be a Netflix type service combined with rentals.

The rental service is definitely appreciated though and something I'd like to see from Microsoft. It would be perfect for games like The Evil Within or even Uncharted. Single player/Story focused games that you're done with after beating the campaign.

That IS disappointing because I've never been much of a rentals type, myself. I hate time restraints. That said, I'll take what I can get as long as they get the Uncharted games up there at some point.

On a related note, I finally got my PS Now Beta invite! (a month before its open to everyone, lol) Not sure what games to try first since I'm pretty much unfamliar with all the ones available at the moment. Oh well, I shall choose at random!

You have a PS4 flickchick?

And guys, is $18 for Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes worth it for a guy who hasn't played much Metal Gear Solid?

I would say no. That's barely worth it for people who are into the series.

I about half feel Playstation Now will be dropped.. It just doesn't seem like Sony's going to stick with long term.

I think a better service would be able to download the game like you would from the PS Store and only have it playable for the time you're renting it. Don't have to worry about the lag of streaming.

It's something they should stick with long term. Why spend millions on hardware you have to sell at cost or a loss when you can just go straight to delivering software on any connected device? And keep your customers paying every month through a subscription, not just when the next big title releases. Not to mention cutting out all the money you feed to retailers. Spend all that money on Studios and Servers. Digital is the long term.
