While I have seen 2 TB hard drives on amazon for like around 100. With ps3 I have the 120 GB and I still to this day have like 36 GB left but I don't have a lot of downloaded games. Now with ps4 because ever game hast to be installed to the hard drive something I really hate I know the 500 GB is not going to last at all. Right now I only have madden 15, mlb 14 the show, NBA 2K14, infamous second son, knack and lego marvel and I don't have any dlc or videos or anything and I am already down to 206 GB left after just 6 games. I am probly going to get drive club this year and I cant weight for batman arkham knight. After that I will probly already be down to like 100 GB already. I don't ever delect my games other then when I go form like nba 2k13 to 14 kind of thing has I still like to go back and play games once in a while that I haven't played in a long time. With the 500 GB I will probly be out of spaces after only like 10 games. That means with a 2TB I could probly get around 40 games on the hard drive not counting DLC. For what it is worth on ps3 I have right around 40 games. So really to be safe and not have to update more then once I probly need a 3TB hard drive and has far has I no there is no 3TB hard drive that works on ps4 yet.
If you weren't downloading many games on the PS3 and don't forsee yourself changing with the PS4 than 500gb should be more than enough for you. Even 1tb will do. Its very easy to manage your space as its extremely fast to delete and reinstall things as you need. I think space is more of an issue for people that have a digital library as it can take hours to re-download a game you've deleted. You can start up and play a game you deleted from disc in a matter of minutes

Yeah but with ps3 you didn't have to install ever game to the hard drive no matter if you bought it on a disk or not now with ps4 no matter witch way you buy it you do so because of that ps4 space gets used much much quiker. With ps3 and like 40 games I only managed to use around 90 GB where with ps4 after only 6 games I have already used about 300 GB and like I said I like to go back and play games and to have to reinstall a game ever time you go and play it is a big pain In the but. That Is one reason I kind of wished I had weighted to get a ps4 because even though I got it for 400 right away where with ps3 I got it for 500 and that is 100 cheaper really it is not has I am going to have to use that difference to buy a new hard drive at some point unlike with ps3. 10 games maybe 11 games to fell a hard drive without dlc or music or any thing is not much at all.

It was a pain on the PS3 but on the PS4 you literally can jump into a game within 2 minutes and everything installs in the background. Having to install the entire game is kind of irrelevant bc the way its done is so much more efficient than how it was with the PS3

Traditional disk hard drives are continually getting cheaper and cheaper and with the new solid state tech getting more popular the old disk drives will keep dropping in price. Unless you buy everything digitally or store massive amounts of media and music on your drive then a 1TB will be more than enough for a while. If you fill it up then buy a 2TB drive sometime down the road.

thanks.

yeah. I think 1 TB will be enough for my needs.

it's amazing how fast you can start playing a game on the PS4. I was so used to the long install times from the PS3......lol; when I actually timed it on the PS4, I was like......Holy Crap!! That's fast!!

Oh yeah I forgot that on ps4 you can start playing a game before it has fully installed lol. I was just saying that if I had weighted that they would have maybe came out with a 1TB ps4 or something. At the same time I cant weight for batman arkham knight in june and who knows by then if there will be a big hard drive ps4 or anything or a price cut or something but probly not. Ps4 is saling so good there is no reason to cut the price yet. I know I am going to need a big hard drive though but I now they are going down in price and because there is not much on ps4 coming out soon that I want I am sure by the time I need a big hard drive they will be even cheaper. The only games I know of coming out in the next like 12 months I want is drive club, batman arkham knight and I am sure I will get mlb 15 the show has that game is amazing and gets better ever year.

well, if you aren't going to play too many games in the near future, then 500 GBs should be sufficient and you can wait for 1 TB drive to come down in price.

at that point though wouldn't it be annoying to transfer everything on the fully loaded 500GB drive onto the 1TB? and also the 1TB would automatically be half full once you transfer all the **** over.

As of now, there is no "system transfer", you can only transfer save files via a usb stick or PS+. Whether you do it now or later, you'll still have to re-download/install all your content.

I upped to a 1TB last Christmas and it seems like it will be the way to go. I have been going all digital and still have a ton of space.

That is why I miss memory cards lol. While with ps3 I have my games saved to a usb stick already just in case my system breaks I don't want to lose everything again has I did with my first ps3 has it got the yellow light of death. It dose suck that you have to download all your dlc and that you have to reinstall everything.

or the PS4 can add external hard drive support so you can download games, dlc, apps, and saves to an external drive and easily transfer it all back to the new internal drive.

Huh? I don't get this. A USB stick works exactly like a memory stick. The only difference is you have to manually transfer the saves but they are much more convenient, have more space and well everyone has them

yeah. I just tried it last night. I backed up my save files to a USB stick. worked fast and easy and was just like using the memory cards/sticks of the past.

kind of wish there is a "select all" option to select all your games and back them all up at once, instead of having to go to each game and do it. but that's no biggie.

so, what's the deal with this Playstation TV thing?

I can play Vita games on my TV using it? So, I could go to the store, buy a Vita game, plug the card into the PS TV and play on my tv using a DS3/DS4?

So, IOW, I'll be able to play Vita games without having to actually own a Vita??!!

yeah seems like it man, and it also looks like if you set it up to a different TV than the one you have your Ps4 hooked up to, you'll be able to do remote play

Most Vita games. Some make use of gyroscope, camera and front and rear touchpad. Those aren't playable with it unless the developer were to go back and patch it for gamepad support and I don't think many are doing that. What sucks is that the device still uses the stupid proprietary memory cards. It really should have external HDD support or at the very least flash memory

what does everyone think will happen to the Ps4 version of minecraft within the next year?

I still can't get over how much I like this controller. I think it's the best controller since... well, ever. It plays a FPS like a 360 controller.

Course, Sony had to be cheap and wreck it by giving it a crap battery. But oh well.

I'm actually curious to try out the Xbone controller, but I know no one with a Bone.

yeah......the DS4 just feels so nice in your hands.

I've had the chance to try out the X1 controller at store demos, and it just feels kind of cheap, light, and "plastic" compared to the more solid DS4.

the triggers are too slanted for me on the dualshock 4. in my opinion, everything except the bumpers, the xbone controller > ds4.

and I got another problem with my ps4.

you know the BEEP it makes when you turn it on?

well when I turn it off, it beeps 3 times. BEEPBEEPBEEP before going into standby mode. usually it does this when something wrong happens but it does this practically every time I turn the ****ing thing off.

hmmmm..........I don't recall this happening to me. but then I normally just shut the whole thing off.

are you turning it off from the menu or by pressing the power button on the console itself??

maybe you need to do a full shut down, then turn it back on, and see if that solves it.

do you have a lot of apps running/open when you go to stand by?

nope, i'm going into the log out menu then choosing standby. and unless there's apps running without my knowledge it is just the game that i was playing and that was it. if this keeps happening... ugh. what should I do?
