and in regards to a slim PS4, it's probably inevitable, but I really don't see how they'd get any smaller. the PS4 is pretty sleek and compact as is.

and, I may be in the minority, but I actually didn't have a problem with the size of the X1. it was actually smaller than what I had expected........lol.

hey, welcome to the club!

I share your frustration with the lack of media features, especially when compared to the PS3.

games............yeah...........

ya man, next month the order. next month, bloodborne. this year, sometime... persona 5, batman+bonus dlc, Uc4, no man's sky, and possibly, dying light, until dawn, sf5, and Tekken 7.

GAMES.

So, in anticipation of Batman: Arkham Knight... I finally own a PS4. Sadly, I have to say, I'm not overly impressed.

Perhaps it's just me, but despite improved image quality, this is a truly average and underwhelming gaming system. The thing won't even play CD's.

But my biggest pet peeve is how it affects the aspect ratios of my movies/TV shows. For some strange reason, they all show up in full screen. I was watching Justice League Unlimited in widescreen on my PS3 with no problem... but it becomes full screen/pixelated on the PS4.

I don't think it's an issue with my TV, so any advice?
What games do you have for it?

And try going into Video Playback settings and turning off the automatic output. I'm not sure if that would fix it but it's my guess. I remember PS3 having an option to change the display area on the fly with the quick options when pressing triangle. I don't remember if PS4 has that option too but maybe that video playback settings option might be it.

It could also be something you should be able to fix with your TV's settings, like Picture Size or Mode. It doesn't seem like something that can't be fixed if you want a movie to play in widescreen.

that's all great. except, at some point, the PS4 has got to excite me beyond just games.

I'm giving it some more time. but I'm not gonna lie and say I won't be disappointed or frustrated if we don't start getting more robust features this year.

I mean, if you had told me in 2013 that, come 2015, the PS4 would still not have all the features the PS3 had, I would have been quite surprised.

you expect a newer console to do more not less. I don't disagree with those who say that the PS4 feels like a step backwards from the PS3 in terms of features.

well, people kept saying the X1 was like a "VCR."

so I kind of had the impression it was as big as a VCR.
It is as big as a VCR.

Ah, I understand. You'd have to be in denial to say the Ps4 isn't a step back from the 3 in terms of features.

I use my console mostly to play games, but I do wish it could do some of the cool things the xbone does. However, like I said to you in the opposite thread, the features there aren't enough for me to switch sides because the most important thing no matte what is the game catalogue available to the platform.

Right now, the features that are missing pissing me off are custom backgrounds, or allowing to mix n mash given themes with your own (you could do that on ps3) and media playback, and I'm talking mp4/Avi/mkv. I also wish it would say how long ago my friends were online, and for me to have a catch phrase. Both things (pretty much all things) you can do on PS3.

well, the X1 is not quite as big as a VCR. ;)

Pretty sure the Xbone is bigger than the OG Xbox. I don't have mine anymore to compare, but I think the Xbone edges it out. It's probably the biggest home console I've ever owned, at least that I can remember.

uhh, the Ps3 super slim is significantly smaller than the slim.

I have seen measurements and I think the super slim is longer but not has think or something compared to ps3 slim.

While I am pretty sure that both the xbox controller and system are the biggest controller and systems ever but yeah xbox one is pretty big to.

I'm fairly sure that's not the case. The N64 controller was, I'm pretty sure, quite a bit bigger than the Xbox controller, both the original and definitely the redesigned one. The console size itself I'm not sure about either. The OG Xbox may have been bigger, but it's close.

Not sure how accurate this is, but I did some quick googling. Could not find a direct comparison of the OG Xbox with the Xbone, but here you can see that the OG Xbox is just slightly smaller than the OG PS3, and the Xbone is slightly bigger than the fatboy. But, like I said, not 100% how accurate this is since it is a blog, but it sounds about right. Wish I still had my OG Xbox to compare myself, but I'm pretty sure the Bone is the bigger of the two.

Oh yeah the N64 controller. I think what made that big was that it was kind of a wired shaped controller with the way it went down at the button and had the z button or what ever button that was don't remember what button that was.

Ps4 was pretty big but xbox being smaller just doesn't sound right. I just found this.

Looks like xbox 360 was a little smaller then ps3 and ps3 looks about the same size has xbox one and ps4 a lot smaller then both xbox 360 and one and ps3. Either way with ps4 being a good amonth smaller then the first ps3 it will be interesting to see how small ps4 slim ends up being.

Yeah but ps4, ps3 super slim and ps3 slim are all just about the same size.

No they arent. As XB showed with the pic, the PS3 Super Slim is smaller than the Slim and its significantly smaller than the PS4. I should know as I have them side by side. I posted a pic on the last page of the two. I dont see how anyone can look at the two and say they are roughly the same size

here's another

While I had seen measurements before about the sizes and according to that they where about the same. But clearly those measurements where wrong and that other photo that was posted was form above so you couldn't really see how think the systems where like you can in this photo. Do you have a photo like this with ps3 slim and super slim? I only see the super slim in there not the slim.

The PS4 and its original 4 USB slots. I hated that Sony downgraded that to 2, which they continued with the PS4. Im constantly running into trouble bc theres not enough

They should have put one in the back. I hate having to see the headset dongle sticking out of the front.

oh, yeah. a back USB port would have been nice.

especially since the front 2 are sort of "indented" in, which causes some USB sticks not to fit properly.
