It's probably permanent. Generally speaking with consumer electronics, once your lower the price for such a long period, you can't bring it back up. A one day sale is one thing, or a weekend sale, but the Xbone was on "sale" for the entire damn holiday season.

No one is going to buy one for 399.99 in January. Microsoft figured that out, sucked it up and continued the sale indefinitely.

they put themselves in the position to have to suck it up and figure it out. as far as sales and momentum after christmas goes, what did they think was gonna happen with they brought the price back up to 4 blocks?

the price cut was on january 16th, so it was the middle of month. so not most of january, but the later half.

and yes, it seems so far instead of price cutting, sony is in favoring of adding value to the console purchase itself.

well, they definitely had the entire Feb at the lower price, so that's why there's no excuse for the Feb #s when they come out.

yeah. january is typically the slowest month for I think pretty much all electronics sales, but a lower price is a lower price now from all throughout the past month. I think NPDs are this thursday so I or someone else will post it when it's public.

I find that while Black Friday (or Thanksgiving) is the best day for sales, even in December during Christmas there are plenty of bargains to be had. But January... not a damn deal in sight.

unless there's some "after holidays sale", january is the least likely time of the year to find some. I may have seen some MLK day sales, but even if I did I do not think it was for electronics.

It's complicated. 399.99 is technically MSRP, but it seems that Microsoft has given all major retailers a memo telling them to set it at 349.99. Target, Best Buy and Amazon for example, officially list it on sale at 349.99. Well, 347.00 in Amazon's case.

Weight so Microsoft basicly did another price cut? Man they are in big trouble has they have already cut it by 150 sinces lanch and ps4 has cut yet and they are still getting killed. With how much they have cut it already they are not going to probly beable to afforded to cut it again for a while and sony can afforded to so advantage sony.

3. Local emulation of PS1 and PS2 games. I know, that will never happen, but I would really enjoy that.

This all I really want. At least PS1 if anything, I still buy PS1 and PS2 discs. Not to mention the digital PS1 and PS2 games I've gotten, it shouldn't be too hard to gain the ability to play the digital games I've paid for on the store should it?

Software based backwards compatibility. The PS4 doesnt have the hardware to play PS1-3 games, but its powerful enough to handle at least PS1 and PS2 games. People want Sony to update the firmware to reflet that so they can not only play their old discs but the digital versions purchased on PSN

I got a PS4! I've been playing Tomb Raider : Definitive. What an amazing, thrilling game. I'd go as far to say as it's almost better than the Uncharted games. It runs gorgeously on PS4 and I love the controller's role in the game!
I also have InFamous : Second Son and Far Cry 4 but I will get to those after Tomb Raider. So impressed with the console so far. I also bought this waterfall theme which makes the menu look incredible. And My God Resogun is awesome.

I recently picked up a PS Camera. It's pretty cool. I like being able to have voice chat through my surround sound instead of wearing headphones (which is the main reason I bought it), but the other features are pretty nice. The Playroom has some interesting little demos, but I'd like to see some more little games for it.

Technically the Xbox One never got a price cut. To clarify, the 399.99 model is a repackage, minus the Kinect. That's not actually a price drop.

The current situation is that the Xbox One is officially on sale. But MSRP is still technically 399.99. It doesn't become a price cut until the MSRP (the price Microsoft, the manufacturer officially suggests) is officially lowered to 349.99.

sucks us PS4 owners won't be able to play the sequel at launch due to the timed exclusive deal with MS.

TR was my 2nd purchase (after AC4:BF) for my PS4, but it still remains my favorite. Though having recently played the 1st two Uncharteds for the first time on PSNow, I'm not sure it can compete with that 2nd one. Still, fantastic game either way. And I also agree about Resogun, quite awesome indeed.
