The Official Samuel Sterns/Leader Thread.

There aren't even any comic book shops around here but when I went to Chicago, Illinois last year there was a comic book shop with literally hundreds to thousands of comics but I didn't bring any money so I didn't get to buy any. This summer, if I go back I'll definitely buy some.

got a hastings? cause if so they sell'em thats were i get mine cause we only have 1 comic shop, but plenty of hastings. our comic shop doesnt even get thier stuff on time always late or sold out.

I think the big head design could be worked with, but would have to be implemented in a more monstreous way then before.
Maybe not as exagerated, but lumpier and full of veins.
After seeing what they`ve done with Abomination we probably shouldn`t worry about getting a design change! :whatever:

Then again, with all the complaining that has been done, maybe Marvel will put presure on keeping the design as close as possible and it`ll look lame!

If they do a sequel and the Leader is featured then I figure they are more likely to go with something similar to the bulbous 80's Mcfarlane redesign than the tall-headed original.
The original, though a classic, would be hard to go with without it looking a little too silly.....

I don’t think the Leader should build robots or machines or create new monsters to fight the Hulk, because he should use his brain to defeat the Hulk.
Like Lex Luthor, it’s Mind over muscle, Not Mind that needs brawn to fight Hulk, atleast not at first. I know that people will complain that the movie needs Hulk to fight other monsters, but what is the point of this character if you still need another villain or machines to be the muscle. That is just what is expected and would be taking the easy way out.
I’d rather see LL and Norton come up something different and a smarter way of him overcoming the Hulk.

Building Robots and creating genetic mutations is using his brain to defeat hulk, those are parts that make the character.

The Leader will be challenging to write. We must have a character who can seemingly predict the future with his intelligence, but not portray his arrogance as turning him into a egomaniacal moron ala the 1990s cartoon. To this end, his telepathic powers would be a good way to portray his intelligence and powers.

Yep, that's the way to go, get some good directors in who understand how the Leader needs to act and be portrayed and we'll have one of the greatest villain peformances of our time in the next movie.

Well he can use psychokinesis right?
That could be implemented, and I don't see anything wrong with some droids used for good measure.

Wasn't he supposed to be originally a plain guy, not an already established scientist?

Does anyone have an image of what he looked like in World War Hulk: Aftersmash! Warbound #3? Looking back at things, he's always looked pretty ridiculous.

I think that he should have some gamma soldiers, people he's experimented on and they ended up being brutes.

They definitely need to fit in some serious action, because to much melodrama has proven to be ineffective in a Hulk movie.

I know the Leader is a key part of the Hulk mythos...but...he's ****...and boring, and really won't translate to film very well. The guy is far too cliched to draw a modern film audience in: 'I will use my extensive knowledge and know how to achieve my goals! I'll employ big dudes and **** on anyone who gets in my way.' It's no good and I hope to hell he doesn't appear in the film franchise.

Don't know why none of the links worked all a sudden... I was forced into making this awful paint thing.

Basically I think the bottom two could work.

They are only red x's.

As for the Leader, he's interesting but in a live action movie, if he were made exactly the same way in the comics, he would be boring. They need to do something to make the character interesting.

Stern's got an interesting arc in this script and well...if you want to find out what happens with him read my script review as to whether or not we'll see The Leader.

Fixed it by the power of paint.

I think the one where it shows him changing from Sterns to the Leader could work. The head on that version isn't too big and he looks very menacing there. I don't really like the look of the very long headed Leader.

amen to that. i like the one with changing face, looks like it could be pulled off in a movie.

Except I don't think that the mustache should be as thick.

Btw, am I the only one who thinks that the Leader shouldn't look like a twig and should be fit but shouldn't be buff?

lose the hulk hogan stache and i think he should be average man size you know 165 lbs to 175, and however tall the dude is that plays 'em.

Yeah, make him about 180-195 lbs, I don't want the guy to be anorexic with an extra large head. Also, I think they should incorporate different looks from different incarnations. Make his head brain like but not too big, give him a small stache, give him blue skin, etc.

Blue skin? Leader has always had green skin, that would be like giving Hulk blue skin!
