Age of Ultron The Official Scarlet Witch Thread - Part 2

If they are planning to make her a spy, sure. But I don't think anyone would actually care about the fact that she has an accent. So she doesn't really need any help to get rid of it. Personally I'd like her to keep it.

In terms of the narrative, the accent is fine. It just gets a little jarring sometimes. On the other hand, it does differentiate her from the rest of the team.

That moment when SW walked out that door... you know s*** was gonna go down. :woo::woo::woo:

Can't wait until they explore her powers in future Movies. Right now they are very basic. She doesn't even realize the potential she possesses. Though hopefully they don't go too far with them. I don't think the Movies need a reality altering Scarlet Witch. Unless they are looking for an excuse to give the MCU a soft reboot.

Well Doctor Strange will be showing up pretty soon. Maybe he recognizes her potential and offers to help train her or something. Plus it'd be Cumberbatch vs. Olsen: Battle of the cool accents.

So when she tore out ultrons metal heart. ..did she destroy it...cause we didn't see that...

Not sure, it cuts away right after. I kind of assume that she did (it'd make sense anyway).

Don't forget Bettany a scene between Bettany and Cumberbatch is a must. I'm thinking with
Wanda in Civil War and most likely Vision too.I can see there parts in the movie ending with Wanda needing help with her powers leading her to Doctor Strange with Vision going with her.

I wish
we can have a screenshot of SW's new costume at the end of AOU.

^ I suspect there will be a lot more talk surrounding Wanda soon enough. The more & more I think about AoU, the more I love Lizzie's performance. To me, she was to AoU what Bruce/Hulk was to the first film: its break-out star.

Ya know, in the "favorite Avenger in AoU" thread with the poll, I voted for Vision. And he was awesome, no doubt. And of course Cap remains my favorite MCU character overall because he's Cap and was great as usual in this film and probably will continue to be my fave going forward (at least until that other Cap shows up). BUT. The more I watch this film, the more I feel like the standout character, especially in terms of having an actual arc, is Wanda. Not only did she have the most dramatic emotional journey over the course of the film, but she affected the plot at pretty much every turn and never failed to be both badass and sympathetic. A lot of times when a sequel introduces a new character and allows them to drive the plot, I often don't care for it because they seem shoehorned in and I'm just sitting there thinking, "who is this person and why are they getting so much focus? Get back to my leads, dammit!" But that never happened here. She got just as much screentime as needed for us to care, without feeling like she was taking away screentime from our established heroes. And she never hit a wrong note. Olsen nailed it, and now I really look forward to seeing her interacting with the team from here on out.

^^^Ahh crap, thanks a lot. All for it now.

Loved here first action in the movie.

After she attacks Cap, the way she dissapears behind that door was cool and very creepy

I don't believe Natasha is ever referred to as Black Widow outside of a single line in TWS (when they tell Rumlow to intercept the council because "Black Widow is up there") and I think AoU might be the first time anybody calls Barton Hawkeye.

she was called Widow in Avengers.... TWS.....Age of Ultron......she is always called Widow or Black Widow

Thought it was strange at first, especially since Strucker didn't run (well we knew he was surrendering, but could have made it clearer in that scene, just one glance at Wanda).

Sums up my thoughts almost perfectly. I was extremely happy to see Olsen deliver such a strong performance. She didn't ever get to do much in Godzilla (unfortunately) but here she was clearly the star.

She was called "Black Widow" once in TA (in her first scene), and once in TWS. Most of the time, she's referred to as "Agent Romanoff" or "Natasha."

So how would they incorporate the name Scarlet Witch?

Yes if there is no Vision/Scarlet Witch romance, this I wouldn't mind a Steve/Wanda romance just makes sense. Remember what Steve said it's hard to find someone with shared life experiences, well
Wanda life is similar like Steve lost his Mom/Dad and Bucky took him in, being a overprotected big Brother to Steve like Steve said when he had nothing he still had Bucky. Steve was selected to be part of the SSP, in which he came out the best person for the job, where they gave him the SSF in which gave him powers by the means of science, but was the first/last one to be created by it like it was a miracle. Steve at first was used as a sideshow act, until Bucky was in danger leaving him to go off to save him and everyone else, he steps up when no else will besides Peggy of course. He gets everyone out but him/Bucky are still inside he tells Bucky to go and save himself but Bucky won't hear it he isn't leaving without Steve, later on in the movie Bucky dies so Steve don't fall with him, leaving Steve like he just lost his whole world. Steve blames himself for Bucky's death in which he says he isn't going to stop until every Hydra/Red Skull is either captured/killed, he's going to avenge Bucky at the end of the film Steve has a big fight with Red Skull where Red Skull vanishes and Steve has to land a ship going to New York his home town, with missiles on the ship leaving him no choice but to land it into the Artic also in Winter Solider he stops the ships from destroying the world even though he is trap inside them with Bucky similar to CAFA ship crashing.
Wanda she also lost her Mom/Dad while Quicksilver took care of her, raised her he was the only family she had left even when she had nothing she still had her overprotective big Brother. Wanda was selected to be part of Hydra's army, in which she and her Brother came out the best people for the job, where Hydra gave her and her Brother a blast from Loki's staff in which gave them there powers by means of magic like a miracle happen. Wanda is guarding a device that Ultron wants while everyone else is getting people to safety, everything is going great until Ultron shows up and starts firing at them, leaving Quicksilver to take a hit for Hawkeye/Boy in which he dies. Leaving Wanda like she just lost her whole world, Quicksilver dies Wanda leaves her post she wants to avenge Quicksilver, so she puts a beaten on Ultron evening ripping out his heart, telling him this is what it felt like when her Brother died and she stays on the fallen city which was her home with her Brother but while she is falling Vision saves her.
See what I mean Quicksilver/Scarletwitch reminded me of
Bucky/Steve, there are parallels to Steve/Wanda, and what Wanda goes threw in AOU is similar to what Steve went threw in CAFA Also his power comes from science while her powers comes from magic, he wears blue cool colors while she wears red warm colors opposites really do attract, if anyone would understand what Wanda is going threw it would be Steve he knows what's it like to lose a love one, they could related on that also what if Wanda asks him about that vision he had and starts opening up to her, with her saying she's sorry for what she did to his mind. Also picture them dating in Civil War and then her powers gets out of control where she has to leave the team and figure out what is wrong with her, and he has to stay and fight the war also isn't it funny that in CAFA/CAWS Steve is willing to sacrifice himself he has a suicide fetish problem same as Wanda in AOU just more parallels between them.
Steve/Wanda has a lot of potential and to me Captain Scarlet would make a perfect couple also Steve must have a thing for girls with European accents Peggy was British while Natasha is Russian, I'm shipping Captain Scarlet till the end of the line.

As iconic as the SW/Vision romance is, I kind of like the idea of Cap and SW together or at least trying it.

I'm not opposed to Cap/SW. In part because however well it works on the page, I don't think I'd be too into SW/Vision in live-action. I mean, Vision may be an ageless android, but Bettany's practically old enough to be Olsen's dad (and seems it)* and it would just be a little weird to me (on top of the inherent weirdness of a human/android romance, lol). Also, Cap and Wanda have had a couple of "almost" moments in the comics that always had me 'shipping them ever so slightly, lol.

*No Oldboy jokes!

Let's be fair, you could pair Steve up with any female character in these movies and make it work because of his everyman quality. The only weird thing is that he's about 60-70 years older than most of the female characters in the MCU.

I liked Wanda in the film. Not a fan of the accent but Wanda was an interesting character and Olsen did a good job.
