Apocalypse The Official Sophie Turner/Jean Grey Thread - Part 2

i love the moment when the phoenix fire is dying down that her eyes are still glowing yellow-red with the fire.
just for that scene alone this movie gets 5/10 for me.

Still it's more of her natural power, like at end of X2, not anything coming from cosmic.
Corsair, Vulcan (third of Summers brothers) and Shi'ar in one of next movies would be nice, even without cosmic being called Phoenix.

Technology used by Apocalypse to transform to another body isn't called cosmic, but this should be. Moira could say something like that.

one thing that bothered me at the end was that no one commented on her unexpected display of power. they knew she was powerful but that was like WOW

I wonder how they're going to handle Dark Phoenix? I picture it as Jean can only tap into it for so long before the power consumes her.

Hopefully not in any way at all.

I thought it was confirmed that the Dark Phoenix Saga is next.

i thought it was Proteus next? Though I wouldn't mind the DPS if Singer is taking a break for his next film I'd rather have someone else take over instead of waiting like 4 yrs for another movie featuring my 3 fav XMen.

Maybe Proteus, then DP?

God I don't know how they are gonna properly execute Dark Phoenix after this film, especially if Simon Kinberg is still around, working as the scriptwriter.

It will be a mess they need to hire on some help.

I remember some of us speculating Proteus and Sinister taking Emma and Shaw's roles in this iteration.

As someone who has watched GoT regularly, Sophie giving a good performance in this wasn't a surprise. On the show her acting has grown as she has herself, I really liked her as Jean, she had some of the best moments in the movie.

She has also grown up to be a very pretty girl.

Idk, I feel like the writing has gotten better for the character (this season)
but Sophie herself hasn't really improved much, imo
still kind of bland and unemotional

Jean's "moment" scene reminded me so much of grant morrisons NEW XMEN comics.

She was great as jean.it can be argured she is real female lead of film. She is very pretty.if youw ere cyclops upon seeing her you would be smitten with
her too:cwink:

on GOT she has gotten better as time went on.

I disagree, I think her acting has improved a lot, the character has changed a lot and she has had no problem portraying that in the show. There have been subtle moments of her acting which might have gone unnoticed as well but we're very good.

I really wish they could get Joss Whedon i know some don't like him after AOU but i think he was meant for X-men especially if he were to write the screen play the Dark Phoenix saga

They really need to do something different I wouldn't mind him taking a shot at it. We need fresh ideas for this franchise.

I think she needs to work on the accent more, it felt a little forced at times.

Finally
got a firebird.
I am pleased.

Sophie was obviously choking on her accent at times, and slipping. But, I don't think it was any worse than what was happening with Fassbender in First Class.

As one of the resident Sophie superfans on this board, I feel validated. I agree that the accent is strained in a few places, but on the whole it's fine (though as someone who has been watching her on TV and in interviews since 2011 with her English accent it took some getting used to). And she has one of the best arcs in the film.
