Thing that bugs me about Wilson is the receding hairline. It's like Bale's mole pimple thing, I'd just stare at it the entire movie.

Lol, agreed, but I'm certain they would figure something out, no way Superman's losing his hair. But just in regards to his facial structure, to me anyway, he looks perfect.

In that second picture, he actually looks very Clark-ish. Even though he played a Batman like character, it doesn't feel like it would interfere with his ability to portray Superman. As long as he loses the Watchmen weight.

Yup, actually if you spotted my previous post, it was his Watchmen portrayal along with his part in Lakeview Terrace that got me thinking. I think the Nite Owl from a gadgetry perspective is absolutely Batman, but his meek demeanor, especially his infatuation with Silk Spectre, is Clark Kent all the way.

Like I noted previously, he has some type of charm that makes you wanna root for him, at least in those two roles, and he was pretty convincing in both movies at going from shy and laidback to heroic. I'm just not sure about his height, I don't know if he's over 6 feet or not, and like others mentioned, they probably wouldn't do it because of his age, but I'd rather a man who looks older play the role this time.

would be great if that ends up being plan with waller. Though we still have to see what happens with superman under nolan's producership.

yea it will be great once we do have director on board fully, and hopefully hear a tentative starting shoot date. Then we can finally get to the real casting stage. It will also be great if they will come out with what type of look/actor they are going for, and maybe a potential wish list of guys.

It won't be long. Right now the script is being polished and the Nolan's/Goyer will pitch it to WB. WB wants a great story first then after that, probably real soon, a director will be selected (my realistic guess is Jonathan Nolan.) Christopher Nolan will produce along with his wife and probably a lot of the people involved with BB/TDK will be involved with MoS. Obviously shortly after that, we'll probably start to see some names or possibly a short list of actors for the main role and probably some names start to surface for supporting roles. I expect all of this to happen this summer to early fall.

Not that I am suggesting Wilson, but in all fairness I would not worry about his hairline.

That is what the makeup team it for.

Ideally the guy would have a good hairline to begin with, but if say everything else was perfect, but an actor was Bald, they can still work with that.

This is Hollywood after.

That being said, there was no excuse to see Bale's parasitic twin. :woot:

Every time I check in on this topic and see daniel cudmore's face pasted all over it, it makes me like him less and less. He's average looking, doesn't resemble supes at all, and has forgettable acting skills.

Not my fault Slamet quoted me.

Or that you and I do not imagine Superman looking the same way.

isnt brian dennehey in inception? i always thought he would be a tremendous perry white

I've got to side with Micah a bit. Cudmore's look is just OK. He does resemble an ordinary appearance even in manips posted on SHH! but as far as acting goes, he leaves a lot to be desired in that department. SuperMike is right about one thing though, not all of us can envision Superman the same way. Our only hope is that there will be a nice list of candidates for the role so we can all get a good look at them

It's really too bad the fans and GP couldn't have a say so in it somehow..

For instance, let Nolan and company weed out the dozens and dozens that don't fit. They then narrow the choices down to the best three or four, then have the fans and public vote on their fav by online voting or something.
That wouldn't mean we, and the public, would have the final say so on who got cast, but WB and Nolan would know how MOST felt about the final choices and the favorite overall pick.

That would really make the fans and public feel like they are actually part of it.

@ Frodo

Robert Downey Junior isn't really, out of the box casting for Sherlock Holmes. If anything, he is the closest a movie has come to the book version of Holmes. Holmes is pretty young in the books (around 25-27 years old). Anyways, I agree with your main point either way.

Agree, with what you're saying because Downey is more like the book Holmes. I guess when I said out of the box , I ment in terms of people's physical image of a certain character . An example would be people's image of James Bond before Daniel Craig played him.

Imdb says he's 6'1 , though who knows. His look reminds me alot of a young Paul Newman. He'd be an interesting choice even though he'd be older.

That is subjective. I could make the same claim about Walsh.

Not even including his stunt acting Cudmore has had more roles than Walsh. You may have only seen him in XMen, that does not mean its all he has done. But experience is not everything either. There are some very experienced actors who can only play one character, like at George Clooney.

No one can say who is going to act better in the role for sure anyway. We don't have our own screen test room, and we are not the Casting director either.

If you can hear the background comments from female fans about him in this interview they do not think he is "average" looking.

Add me to the Patrick Wilson bandwagon. He could pull off both roles without a hitch. Top-notch actor in my book.

I thought the same thing about Wilson. His hairline makes him look older than he actually is. Bale's neck mark isn't too noticeable though unless your some weird perfectionist sort.

Walsh is probably the best choice for Superman so far.

I think Walsh has the best look so far, but I dig Wilson, Malambri, and Hammer stil..

Hammer is still high on my list too. Even Walsh and Malambri I think have looks that can work.

As of late most of the suggestions here get better and better.

If this is what we can come up with I think that a Casting Director with a good strategy can find the right person.

Especially with a bigger field that will be suggested to them by agencies that have guys who we have never heard of that could be even better than anyone yet suggested.

I like how everybody is thinking outside the box.

Wilson could be a good choice for Lex (and potentially a rather sexy Lex, depending on how bald looks on him).

Speaking of baldies... Stanley Tucci? Probably not nearly a big enough name for Lex, sadly, but eh.. he's bald, and a good actor.

Wilson would be good, but I'd rather have him as Lex than Superman.

Smallville fan or not, Michael Rosenbaum was the best Lex Luthor on screen in recent history. I'll be happy if they [the studios] model the new Lex on Rosenbaum's portrayal of the character.

The above picture is pretty convincing to me. Nice new name. And look, a pic of lois and clark together:

I´ll die from disgust if this guy was Superman... NO ,NO and NO!!!

I think Wilson is an inspired choice for Superman. He's a hell of an actor, and I doubt that his role in Watchmen would hurt his chances since Watchmen is a standalone story. And besides, I'm sure that as Superman/Clark, he would look almost nothing like he looked in that movie so average people probably wouldn't even realize he was the same guy. Also, he was cut to the max in Little Children, so he probably wouldn't have a problem getting into Superman-shape.

However, I also like the suggestion of Wilson as Lex Luthor. He can play an absolute CREEP... if you haven't seen Hard Candy, I highly recommend it. Brilliant performances by Wilson and Ellen Page.
