Hamm would be my perfect Bruce Wayne, however I think he'd do a decent supes and he's one of the better names suggested imo. . .

I did this quickly, the hair could be better, haha. . .

Skarsgard looks too evil to me, maybe Lex?
would like to see Daniel Craig in that role though!!! . . .

Bomer. . . too short, too pretty!!!

Cavill. . . great look, but seen most of his movies now, American accent a little ropey and something very English about his mannerisms imo. . .

Even as a British girl, I couldn't support a non American actor in the role... just seems wrong in a way.
I found this interesting considering that in your last post on this very page you said that Cavill is one of two men currently being discussed that you could support.

I say Charlie Chaplin should get it

I don't know why some posters believe that WB won't be political in casting Superman. Just look at past history...SR. Remember all the crap they got for not saying "and the American way?" Do you remember all the so called negative press around BR being gay simply because a homosexual magazine had an article about whether or not the charachter of Superman was gay? Do you really think if a non-American were cast it wouldn't be all over Fox news and other right wing media outlets? I can rihgt now imagine Bill O'Reilly enciting a boycott against the film for not being American enough. For the liberal media taking an American icon and "outsourcing" him. Same thing goes if they cast a homosexual. Not saying any of this is right, I in fact think it's all terrible, but it's reality and everyone is a potential customer so it would be best to avoid any controversy in their minds. Why is this so hard to understand and if true, that means no non-american, no Bomer, and no Cavill (it has been heavily implied in this very forum that he is also gay though some fan boys have a hard time seeing what is right in front of their face. Again not condoning any of this but it's not hard to imagine.

If we're going with older actors, I want to nominate Patrick Warburton.

Seriously, though, why couldn't he have been born in the late 70s? Dammit! Talk about the perfect height, build, and voice.

\S/

I want to make it clear that I have been very vocal about Cavill not being the most masculine guy, but everything that I am aware of would indicate he is not gay. I just don't want a more feminine type of guy playing Superman. Bomer, on the other hand is openly gay. When it comes to acting it is difficult to cover up feminine mannerisms. There are only certain male actors that have been good at doing so. It's much more difficult than Sam Worthington trying to cover up his accent. ;-)

It is true he is gay. But I don't think he is open about it. A photo of him kissing a dude surfaced and he did not deny anything, cause he had no choice. However he won't discuss his sexuality in interviews at all.

Regardless if I disagree with the gay lifestyle, I just don't think he is right for Superman. He seems to slight in stature and his acting is not all that interesting to me. I never found his acting too "feminine" though.

Did you watch this last season of the Tudors? Not only did he showcase his incredible acting ability, but I can't imagine anyone would think he exhibited feminine characteristics. I might grant you that maybe early on in the series, when he was supposed to look and act younger . . . but it has been so long since I've seen those episodes I don't really remember. In fact, after Season 4, I have a hard time not thinking that Cavill is in his late 30s. He just embodied it so well, I have to force myself to remember that he's still a young 'un.

My apology as I did not mean openly in the way many take the term "openly". He was in a relationship with Simon Halls the first part this year and I guess I consider if it is fairly common knowledge that you are in a relationship with a guy, then that is being pretty open with it. Not sure if they are still an item or not. You are correct that he doesn't discuss it and hasn't "come out" about it.

I used to teach television and film acting back in the 80's, so I guess things like that jump out at me. It depends on the role. If there are any scenes where the vulnerable and wimpy Clark Kent side needs to come out, it becomes more evident. Reeve's feminine side was very evident to me in a number of scenes when he was Superman. Part of the reason I wasn't a big fan of him being Superman.

I have some good friends who are gay and they understand why I feel the way I do about who plays Superman. One completely agrees that Superman needs to be played by a macho guy, not a feminine type of guy.

As far as Cavill goes, he could maybe pull off the macho part in acting, but he just is too wimpy looking in stature to pull of the imposing physical presence that we should see in Superman. In person, I have been told he is very much on the metrosexual side of the scale.

Chris Nolan and WB should give a chance to these Actore for the role of Superman (IMO.) -

Mature looking - Jim Caviezel, Michael Trucco.

Younger looking - Henry Cavill, Rick Malambri, Ryan Mc Partlin, Armie hammer.

And give a second chance to these as well -

Fan Favourites - Brandon Routh, Tom Welling.

"Lobbied last time...wouldn't fit our projected theme"

"Not quite what we're looking for..."

"...Been around, haven't you?"

"...Who?"

"Chuck's showrunners love him (and they love Supes), but..."

"Kal-El's not ready for the League yet..."

"Didn't he already play the character?"

"Uhh..."

What if? Just what if they decide to hire much younger than what we are expecting. More of having the first Superman being played by a young actor (18-25) to portray SM/Clark Kent through out all films without noticing his aging (this would be a great chance to show more of his ties to Krypton and him not being from planet Earth in that he doesn't age as quickly as humans)

Sure, Chris Nolan is involved but WB and numbers at the box office will always matter. Not to say that Warner Brothers doesn't trust Chris Nolan in that regard but nonetheless they still have a large amount of say.

Seeing the current trends in how other studios are casting and planning with their respective franchises (Spider-Man, X-Men, Thor, Captain America to a degree). I'm safe in writing here that WB sees the Superman franchise as tired out after the way SM:R was received.

Superman does age like a normal human being, so I think they should have a Superman who is in his early to mid-30's. I really wouldn't want to see him much younger than Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern, who is 34. We don't need a Superboy next to GL and Batman in a future JLA movie. ;-) He should be minimum of 6'2" tall and have a strong imposing physique. No lifts. He needs to have the natural physical stature, not just a couple extra inches on his heels.

Patrick (JOE FAMILY GUY) Warbuton would be a great choice for an older Superman I agree, height, look voice, and a dead ringer for Ross's Superman. Could he pull of Clark Kent though?

I think it''s good they're not going for an A list star as it could ruin the movie and the actor's rep lol. I still like quinto but hey that's my opinion. Welling said he wouldn't do it anyway.

If you cast a younger actor (late teens/early 20's) to play an older Superman (mid 30's), wouldnt it look kinda funny to have Clark and Superman working with/seeing a 30ish Lois? I can hear the cougar comments about Lois now.

Do people still talk about Jason Lewis for an older Superman? I was never a huge fan of the idea, but understood the facial resemblance was there.

You know I wouldn't mind seeing him as Superman. Although I thought he should have been Captain America.
