See, I thought Hamm as Superman was a decent idea, but, like some people have said about Manganiello, the more I see Hamm AS Superman, the less I like the idea.

Regardless, your poster is pretty cool, although, the word "makers" doesn't need the apostrophe. Just sayin'.

haha, thanks. . .

yeah, not 100% sure myself, I love him on mad men. . .
I think if Mr.Routh is not returning then older is the way to go. . .

Damn, that apostrophe is going to bug me something rotten now!! ;) . . .

fixed for my ocd's sake :). . .

I love him on Mad Men, too. It's weird - when I've seen him in other stuff, he just doesn't seem "right" to me. It's like he was born too late, or something. I look at him, and all I see is Don Draper. I was nursing a hangover a few weeks back and Space Cowboys was on in the background as I drifted in and out of consciousness, and I saw Hamm's bit part and it totally threw me for a loop. It's like he didn't belong there. But that's... just me.

Sorry about pointing the ' out. I'm slightly OCD about those things myself.

Thanks Showtime. . .

Yeah, Don Draper is such a great character and ideally I think Hamm would make a better Batman if anything. . .

The thing with some great tv actor's is you get used to seeing them in the one role for so long. . .

I guess this is why there's always the argument that superman should be an unknown. . .

I am so curious as to which way they will go with this!! . . .

Agreed. I was completely and totally optimistic during casting for SR. I talked down naysayers and and told people just to wait for the final product. I guess I might end up being more critical this time around.

unfortunately, i also think Jackman and Caviezel are outside of the ideal age range, but i certainly wouldn't complain (too much) if either of them are cast. however, if Caviezel is cast...he better hit the gym with the quickness.

...and a time machine...

It's a crap shoot right now trying to guess they age they wanna go with supes. Both sides arguements have merit.
Personally, i'm thinking older, but then, I also miss the lottery numbers everytime.
while i'll agree that both sides have merit, i don't think it's a crap shoot guessing their ideal age range. most of the actors that are filling in the recent comic heroes are 25 to 35 and that's obviously because these actors need to be able to come back for possible sequels and show little to no signs of aging. this is even more important with Superman who is a superhuman that ages at a rate slower than us, and unfortunately for most of us, the signs of aging become more rapid as we get older.

the reason i'm making the argument that they'll be looking for someone who is 25 to 35 is because it's obvious (at least to me) that they're trying to follow the example set forth by Batman Begins and a big key to that success was Christian Bale. regardless of whatever complaints of gripes anyone has against him, he played a pivotal role in the film's critical success. he was quite an unknown at the time who had a good grasp of acting, was old enough to play batMAN but young enough to play a convincing student straight out of college. now this is just pure speculation, but i can imagine them wanting to do some flashback scenes (similar to Batman Begins) where Clark is either in college or out of college, and if this is the case then if they go with an actor like Hamm or Jackman then they'll need to get another actor altogether to play young Clark, whereas if they cast within the 25 to 35 age range they will most likely be able to get away with de-aging the actor with hair, clothes, and makeup (ala Batman Begins).

so again, i agree that there are good arguments for both sides of this spectrum......however, given that they will undoubtedly be making a sequel IF (note the word "IF") this movie is successful, i don't see why they wouldn't be at least AIMING to cast an actor in the 25 to 35 age range. i'm not saying this to spite Hamm or Jackman or any other actor around the age of 40, and i've already said that they very well might end up hiring an actor who's older than 35....however, i'm just trying to inject some reality for those who think that they're not taking into account the age of the next actor who will be portraying the Man of Steel.

I think theres a difference between old and mature, Hamm is just plain old, he hasnt aged well imo although he would make a good superman for perhaps a tv series but not for the big screen please

...was old enough to play batMAN but young enough to play a convincing student straight out of college.

Truth.

I've heard people talk about how WB might be trying to make this a one-shot Superman adventure film just to deal with legal issues or something. But, realistically, I don't think they can afford to do that. If you put out a Superman movie with an older actor as a stand alone film, and then go back and start a new franchise down the line with a new actor, you're pretty much shooting yourself in the foot, from a business perspective. They're already going to be dealing with relaunching the character with a new director/cast after SR. I don't think they're going to want to go through all that again in a few short years. They're going to want a "sure thing" that can be there for a two to three, possibly even four, picture series of adventures. They're not gonna want back to back one-termers. I expect they'll go younger with someone they're certain of and comfortable with.

I don't put too much stock in this "one-shot" thing. I know there are some legal issues and they have to get the movie off the ground by a certain point, but they still want to launch a new franchise here of at least three films, or have this lead into a Justice League movie. I think they are just looking at it as a one-shot in case it flops or underperforms.

I want Hamm to be Bale's Succesor.... not Superman.

See, now that I don't get. With all the gripes about Hamm possibly being too old, you want him to replace a guy that's younger than him? Makes no sense.

And before anyone chimes in, I know Hamm is older than Routh. But that is irrelevant, because he wouldn't be his "successor." Routh sucked, or at least failed to connect with the entire fanbase the way that Reeve did.

All the gripes are good gripes (if that makes any sense) Sure Hamm isnt too old, for god sakes hes only 3 years older then Bale, but he LOOKS for too old to play a superman on the big screen (unless its a superman movie where superman retires) Look at Bale and then look at Hamm, hamm just hasnt aged well, yes hes a great actor, i absolutely love him in mad men, but lets face it he's too old

Yes id want the movie after BB3 to take place Years later... have Bruce Become Older.

I think Tom Hardy would be an awesome Bruce Wayne after Bale is finished. That is, if Nolan doesn't pick him to be a villain in Batman 3.

Hamm is a very good actor, but...that face :cwink: I'd take him over Manganiello though. At least, IMO, Hamm has proven that he has serious chops.

Jon Hamm as Clark Kent/Superman

Carla Gugino as Lois Lane

Billy Zane as Lex Luthor

No matter what face he pulls, Zane always looks Conniving & evil. What a great Lex he'd make. If it were 96/97 people would agree, but he's not the flavor of the month amongst fans anymore so...what a ya gonna do?.
