Well, remember all the Routh was cast because is gay and "Superman returns" will be a gay fest rumors that Rich Johnston started years ago?
They didn't help the movie...

What they need to do is get tom welling as clark, and get jon nolan to direct, and make that dc online trailer superman suit come to life and you got me going back to watch that movie several times

I think getting an actor who is shorter than 6'1 to play Superman would be a terrible mistake.

Superman needs to be a tall and an imposing figure.....period.

6'1-6'4 should be the ideal height requirements for any actor being considered for the role of Superman IMO.

Then again, this is the Superman Casting Thread where openly gay actors are being suggested as Superman candidates also. I have nothing against gay actors, but if a gay actor was cast, that would open up Pandoras Box and would create all kinds of crazy criticism, that the next film does not need.

I mean someone on here mentioned how the next Superman who is cast needs to be an American actor, because he was worried about the criticism that would come from evil hack "journalist" Fox News TV and Radio if a Brit or Swede was cast as the Man of Steel. Can you imagine the non sense that would come from Fox News if an openly gay actor was cast as Supes??

Ugh....

Just like Batman needed to be intimidating, right?

Enter Michael Keaton...

Superman gets his powers from the freaking sun, why does he even need muscles?

Ehhhhhh let me see hmmmmmm well it could stem from the fact that's how he is represented on paper. Tell any artist to draw Superman and you will get a tall muscular guy with big muscles and dark hair.

Fox News is a cancer. The fact that anyone in Washington, Hollywood or anywhere else watches what they do or say in fear of Fox's reaction to it sickens me.

Almost anyone can play Batman

He uses a heavy costume, could very well use lifts on his boots, the mask and cape could make him look bigger, most of his shoots are in the dark, and he is mostly to appear alone in the frame.

Bale is six foot, do people believe he can't be intimidating or imposing as well and this goes beyond playing Batman.

Almost anyone can play Batman

Almost anyone can play any heavily masked, costume hero.

Superman is different. His unmasked physical appearance in tights IS his look, his classic look.

It requires a strong physical component. He towers over Batman, GL and the rest.

They're going to hire someone who can be Superman in a movie, not look like him in a still picture.

I dig it.

Well being Superman requires muscles because that is who the character is.

Yep... It has been like that in every single comic representation

The people who complain about Bale only being 6' must really get all riled up when they watch a 5'10" Batman in the Burton movies.

There's a fine line between drawing Superman with a nice build to over doing it. To me, Lee over does it, while guys like Quietly, Bolland, Swan, and Byrne do it right. Whenever I look at Lee's work, it's like he's trying to convince us that Superman is so strong with all those muscles. We don't need to be convinced that much, he is Superman after all.

I have always liked how Stuart Immonen drew superman

IMO, Joe has the right height and build, and jon the face. pity we cant combine them into one.

It sure is a cancer among American society.....it's sad and pathetic really.

WB's and the Nolans should pull a coup and snag Hugh Jackman to be Superman!

Chris has worked with Jackman before and there is news that the Wolverine 2 development is indefinitely delayed.

To WB's and the Nolans: HIRE Hugh Jackman as Superman and move forward with making a kick ass Superman film for once!

Just Do It! Do it.....dooo it....

That would be the shet if they got jackman....
but they're not smart enough to do it .

It would be really hard to hate Hugh Jackman as a choice. Tall, good looking, muscular, charming in a humble way, well-spoken, but has surprisingly good comedic timing

Who would have thought they would have snagged Reynolds to play Hal Jordan/GL??

Plus the Nolans worked with Jackman on The Prestige. They have an inside shot at trying to get him for any role in any of their films really.

Cast Hugh Jackman as Superman dammit and move forward with making a kick ass Superman movie and don't look back! :hehe:

That would be so awesome. :awesome:
He's 6'3,very muscular,a great actor and has worked with Nolan before.

true, but dont you think he is too well known? not that I care or anything, but it doesnt seem thats the direction they're going in, I dont know.

Just get Hamm on P90X, and he'll look like that in no time. With a thicker neck, and powerful shoulders and chest, he'd look perfect.

Who cares how known he is.....he would be a KICK ASS Superman and that is all that matters!

Heck he would be a better Superman, than Wolverine more than likely!

Hugh Jackman would be amazing. His performance in The Prestige was stunning. Not very likely he would get the part, but if he did, I'd be totally in support.
