I cut this one out, too. Added some vibrance to the suit, but still haven't made a manip for it.

I wish someone had the full body version and did a variation of what Kal_Angel did with the sparks...that looked awesome. I just didn't care how he had Superman leaning forward. I also love how he expanded the cape...

DeviantArt took the images off your page on their own, right? If so, it's possible they removed your stuff that used the Empire photos just to cover their asses (or they didn't know the difference).

As far as the email you got goes, don't sweat it too much. Those letters are usually worded to be deliberately threatening in hopes to scare you into taking it down. In that regard, it worked. You didn't do anything wrong, though, and there's no chance WB would spend money in legal fees prosecuting someone who posted an image they found online. They may try to do something to the guy who stole the image, though.

That reply was directed at the guy who just manipped the leaked image. Not the guy who originally leaked it.

I'd feel bad for the original poster if he didn't try to pass it off as his work. I appreciate that he's given us such a great image, but it doesn't really seem like his goal was to give fans a look at a cool image. It seems like he wanted to take credit for work he didn't do. If he just wanted fans to see it, he could have just sent it anonymously to a bunch of comic/movie websites and at least one of them would have posted it.

I don't feel bad for him at all. Im an artist myself and copyright is a big deal to me. He made a mistake and needs to pay the price for it. Simple as that.

What pisses me off is that he made me and ifredriece(sp?) look like fools by making us search for Cavill's headshot he used for the "manip" and it simply doesn't exist.

I know exactly what UaaalaDan is talking about. The whole thing was fishy from the get go. I put in a ton of work to make my manips look real. That one was so good in some spots and so bad in others. That head shot in the manip CAN be created from scratch or from frankensteining a bunch of different pics together, but it didn't seem like the guy knew how to do it. The "Google image search Henry Cavill" comment he replied to me gave it away.

Yeah his other work that he had posted on his deviant art page was nowhere near as good as the image he tried to pass off as his own.

Exactly. I an artist myself and a lot of us work really hard to make it in this business doing what we love and we don't have to resort to such measures. And I spent a lot of time looking for that headshot on google...in vain. As soon as I saw that image, I knew right away parts of it wasn't a manip. His other work is horrible when compared to this image. That's why I feel no pity for him. He was just trying to be a smart***.

Agree. I mean, I thought he had used parts of the first vault-shot for the upper body, combined with facial shots from Immortals. And the rest just pieced together. All the dark parts indicated that there had been a lot of "gluing together" Frankenstein-style. It's certainly not impossible to do a manip like this from what we have of imagery.
But yeah, looking at his other work should've given it away. I just didnt think about it.
