It won't last, The Classic suit will return .

Ok, this really bugs me, Why does Jor-EL always have to be an Old Man and Lara is always a beautiful young woman ? [Why can't Jor-El be young like Lara, like in STAS ?]

Or in MOS.

I really wish DC would just take a stand and say "No more retcons. This is our continuity and we're sticking to it." At this point, I don't even care anymore if that continuity involves anything at all from the 80's and 90's, Birthright, or just uses the damn movies as a starting off point. They just need to pick one and stick to it for a change.

I'm hoping Donner will bring the sense of awe and magic he brought to the superman films. I'm hoping their run is very cinematic.

That's what I'm hoping for. I can't wait for this.

1.)DC needs to up the image quality when releaasing art

2.)The coloring SUCKS

Get Laura Martin on this book ASAP.

You realize, since that's basically promo art, it's probably extremely unfinished, right?

By "comics" you mean the Action Comics run which is promicing to be crap.

It's not anywhere else most of all not in Superman.
We dont know that. They do like to keep the stories close together as we saw in Superman they had the cover for Action comics acting like it was a past time event. Like a week or 2 in the past.

Thats how I feel with Superman they can never pick an origin for him. I agree they need to either say his origin is going to be the Movies or Man of Steel or Birthright or Smallville and just stick with it. I am tired of seeing every 3 to 4 years a new origin for Superman. I mean before COIE they stuck with the same Origin for 50 years they can do it again.

The belt buckle's fine to me, it's not really a serious design change.

DC really needs to just do 150 page trade about the origin of Superman and be done with it. They should take the best elements from all sources and do it. Get Grant Morrison, Paul Dini, Mark Waid to do it.

:wow::wow:Sage it is you:woot:

Also I agree with Sage.

Frankly, what I would prefer is that they go back to using Man of Steel as the official origin, because that's what Superman's entire continuity was (pretty firmly) built on, up until the point when Birthright came out and screwed things up just a couple years ago.

But what I really want is for them to just write a new origin or settle on a pre-existing one for permanent use. And it doesn't even make much of a difference as to which story they eventually decide on using (my preference, again, being MOS), because continuity will be f**ked up no matter what, thanks to the brilliant decisions of DC within the past few years. Once they finally settle on a permanent origin, they need to solve the continuity problems with a better explanation than "Superboy punched reality." Once that's taken care of, they need to try their best to restrain themselves from intentionally creating more potholes in Superman's history.

I know that that's a mouthful, but honestly, it shouldn't be that hard for DC to just have the stomach to give Superman a concrete origin again. Of course, not all of the fans are going to be pleased with whatever decision DC (hopefully) settles on, but so what? A few outcries would still be better than the constantly shifting continuity that we have now.

I agree with you there about creating a new origin that'll fix all of this.

I dun get why they keep altering superman origin either. Just use the basic Man of steel/ donner movies origin that most people are familiar with.

kal-el rocketed to earth from the doomed planet krypton, his father Jor-el and his mother Lara new the earths yellow sun will give Kal-el great power. Kal-el was found in smallville kansas buy the middle-age married couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent. They took him in as thier adopted son, and named him Clark Kent. As Clark grew he began to develop amazing powers, but he began to feel different and somewhat alone from his peers. Finally needing answers, 18 year old Clark confronted his adopted parents about his origins.

The kents new it was time, and they showed Clark the space ship they found him in. The kents had the ship hidden in their shed for years. The metallic vessel had a huge S like insignia on it. When Clark touched the S, and he recieved a hologram message from his bilogical parents. They told him where he was from, and told him who he was, and why he was so different. After seeing the message, Clark was angry and in disbelief and ran off at superspeeds out the shed. The kents tried to chase after him, but clark had gotten way to fast.

As Clark ran, he felt that he was getting very light, and when Clark looked down his feet were off the ground. Clark then dicovered his most amazing power, the ability to fly. Clark took off into the sky, enjoying every minute of flying. Clark flew through the clouds, and his anger had slowly gone away. Clark then flew back to his home, where his adopted parents were waiting desperatly to see if he would return. Clark landed in front of them, and they were amazed but happy to see their son has returned. The kents then all embraced in a one big hug, as Clark had accepted who he was. Clark later told his closets friend/girlfirend cheerleader Lana Lang about his abilities. Lana was surprised and excited, and after Clark took her for a fly around town, she swore to keep his secret forever.

Everything after that should be basic as well, Clark travels the world for 5 years after highschool, getting interested in Journalism and secretly helping people in trouble. Clark then takes a 2 years course at college, and earns a journalism degree. Tired of haveing to help people in secret, Clark asks his parents to make him somekind of suit so he can help people useing a public identity. Martha kent then uses the sheets she found clark wrapped in, when they found his ship. She then makes the classic superman outfit, she makes it skin tight, as they discover clarks body somehow generates a protective aura an inch away from his body. Clark personally decided to use the S insigna that was on his ship, and places it in the middle of the suit. After devising a disguise involving glasses, a somehwhat geekish personality, and a heavily greased hair, Clark sets out to Metropolis to make his mark on the world.

The S buckle won't last, Kubert keeps trying to do the Superman Returns looks and the editors keep telling him no.

Have they even said they're altering the origin?

I agree with the words in bold.

I'm hyped for this, and keeping an eye open at the same time.Big name creators don't always produce quality work.Hopefully this isn't the case with this run,but we'll see.

I hope it fails miserably and Busiek and Woods come back.

I'm just becoming a Superman fan (within the past year) and I think this is going to be awesome. I don't get why other people are so hesitant about it. Anyone care to explain?

I hope it sucks, just to make people realize that Donner and Johns aren't the end-all-be-all of Superman, and that DC shouldn't compromise Superman's entire Post Crisis continuity just to conform to the movies and be molded into Johns' new Silver Age.

Of course, even if it does suck storywise (which I'm more or less expecting), it will still sell very well, simply because of the names attached to it, and that's enough of an excuse for DC to stay on its current path to the new SA.
