The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Official TASM2 Costume Thread!! - Part 1

Why would the other way make less sense? It eventually becomes second nature to him like breathing, and he can turn his clinging effect off and on at will. More believable than microscopic hair being able to carry his whole body weight, or not getting torn out, when someone forcefully tries to rip him off a wall.

Proportionately real spiders adhesion to surfaces is actually very powerful: They can support over 100 times their own weight (and they obviously can turn this sticking on and off at will too).

The actual process is called 'van der Waals forces', caused by moving electrons that create hot spots of attraction between nearby molecules (yes, this is real world physics, I looked it up :yay:).

Oddly enough this sticking is more akin to how a Ghecko sticks to things than it is to how insects do it.

Scale that up for a human Peter could easily hold his own weight, and if pulled off a wall by something strong enough then the sections of the wall where his hands and feet are would come away with him (that has been done in the books btw).

So either idea, some form of localised static cling, or little hairs (or secae), works as a psuedo scientific explanation (best you can do with comic books stuff when the realism card is played). Where the little hairs don't hold up so well is that fabric, even if it's a fine layer, is still getting in the way of them, ie: put tiny little mittens on a spiders feet I don't think the little bugger will be climbing anything.

I suppose the get out there would be to say Spider-Mans secae are bigger, can extend further, but are still small enough that they can penetrate his suits fabric with ease without damaging it.

He's obviously sticky all over his body and can turn it on and off at will.

Who's to say with the sneakers he isn't just using his knees when he's crawling ?

In any case, saying the sneakers had to go because "How do his feet cling ?" I don't buy that.

Looks like his bare feet are holding him up there to me.

Not saying you are wrong in that assumption regarding Webb's version, but that doesn't tally with how real spiders work (its only their legs that can stick, not their bodies) and I can't say I've seen him use any other body part than his hands and feet for sticking to things in the books (if he has then I stand to be corrected on that one).

He has. He could stick to walls with just his back if he needed too. And he can stick things or people to his back as well.

I think in the comics he discovered that his whole body could get clingy. I think it was during the whole mystical stint in the comics. Obviously that didn't last long.

Can't cite a specific issue but he's clung via his back before. He's also used it to keep his mask on. Originally it was just his hands and feet but over the years he's become able to do it with any part of his body.

yeah it was around the time he got stinger wrist claws

Just wanted to point out that the same web cartridge from TASM is visible (or something similar)at the back of the web shooter. It's black this time though.

yeah, that´s why i said my theory that maybe that is just a shielded webshooter

I figured it's just a covering to hide the blinky lights and help him sneak around better.

Ah, I stand corrected then (not fully versed in the comics, having skipped most of the 90's and a not being too interested in all that Totem/Other stuff).

Can he still do it, or was that just part of the 'Other' deal?

Well, Lizard DID crush his web shooters with his bare hands, right?

The fact that it's armored is a practical thought.

Ooh nice. I'm sure the shield he put on top of it has some function though. If you're right.

true in a sense that people thought they were ugly , is just what the GA wanted, i was indifferent about them so...yeah
hahaha... no.

The GA doesn't give a damn what the suit looks like as long as it looks like Spider-Man.

This is what the hardcore fans wanted.

no.. not really.

By hardcore fans I mean the people who actually read the comics and were dying to have the classic suit.

I'm not one of them.

ok, that´s what i mean , a lot of people know spider-man for the 90´s cartoon or the comics with the classic look before spider-man (2002) and the kids knew spider-man that way and i´ve seen a couple of videos where they say that doesn´t look like Spider-man so a LOT of people wanted this look

well if you like the new suit , i loved it and a lot of people DO , but a lot of people didn´t and they (sony) are probably are trying to please the most of the audience

I'd still say that most people don't care what the suit looks like just as long as it looks like Spider-Man, and so far all of the suits used do.

I quite like the new suit. I don't see as much Raimi in it as everyone else. As far as I'm concerned, Raimi's was just the comic suit with tacky additions that subtracted from the whole rather than adding to it.

It wasn't the raising of the webbing. I get that. Trust me, you want that just a bit visually on film. It was the silvery and thick nature of it. I also didn't dig the darker blue. And while I understand the Ditko eyes, they were too small for me and I hated them. Muscle suit? Gross. Tobey beneath it? The Raimi-est of all the decisions... I think he played the role as written and directed perfectly. Just wasn't my Spidey most of the time.

So I don't see Raimi in this new ASM suit. Because I associate Raimi with the flaws. And they are not here. All that's left is pretty pure Webslinger.

It's just gorgeous really.

He fixed everything up before the final swing though. Maybe Rhino will bust them and Peter will be like, "Again!?" It would also be cool if Rhino ruins his suit too and Peter, with the help of Gwen, gets something that is stronger and lighter than the spandex he used in TASM. This is all assuming the Rhino will be a physical threat like his comics counterpart and that he shows up in the beginning.
EDIT: maybe not with Gwen's help, I think Peter will at least try to keep her out of all the Spider-man business.

and is not raised webbing plastic is puff paint see the image closely the central webbing from the mask

it could be the stunt suit and not the 'hero' suit.

i think this....shielding it serves no purpose...why would you want a harder piece of metal to crushed into your wrists
