The Dark Knight Rises The Official TDKR Fanart & Manips Thread

Yet another one!
This one was based on a poster design of Batman Begins, This one.
Yeah I know, fire again :p I started of with just 'dust' and smoke etcetera, but it felt a bit too monotone for my taste, so I added some orangey, fire etc for extra eye candy :word:

Wow, this is the best fan made TDKR poster thus far. The only downside is the awkward rounded cowl but that's obviously not your problem.

I think it is supposed to, isn't it? I don't want to second guess the artist's intent, but it seems to be the intention is to invoke the 'Welcome to a World Without Rules' poster, only this time the building is intact, not burning.

i understand, but to quote someone on these boards: "Fans would be pi**ed if you recycled some things that are related to TDK". its not original, i should say. and im not saying i can do better either
 
both of those manips are great! It makes no difference to me if they remind me of TDK or not, if it's good work, a good concept and execution so be it.

we will get our official posters eventually and I hope we get the same amount of awesome posters that we did for TDK. What do you guys think? Do you think even though the main villain this time around isn't as popular and visually stunning as The Joker that well get a large amount of theatrical posters?

I'm pretty sure we will. I'm sure bane will be 'big' and 'tough' looking, and along with that mask (and maybe more things yet to come...) we could see some posters wich will create a very 'powerful' look, if you know what I mean :)
Those work quite well for movie posters in my opinion.

heres what i think made The Dark Knight a big success:

I honestly dont think it was Heath. Heath did his part magnificently, but i dont think thats the main reason why the film was incredible. To me, its the fact that you brought together Batman and The Joker in a way thats beautifully performed and written. Not only that, but he played a key part as a villain alone enough to push Batman to the line of good and evil. When people see The Joker and Batman together, whether its in a movie or a painting or a picture in a comic book, they smile or have this awe struck look on their face. These 2 characters have this special connection to where they become the most well-known Hero and Villain duo thats ever been written into the history of comic books. The way they've been written over the years evolved them to that point of fame. Like I said in another thread: You cant have Batman without The Joker. Its like a deeper version of taking the Green Goblin away from Spider-Man. Its just not right. The way you combine these 2 rivals is just like they were meant to be enemies forever and how the past brings them to more conflicts in the future. Their opposites: Batman is quiet, Joker is loud, Batman wont kill people, Joker always kills people, Batman usually sticks with black and gray, Joker is a much more colorful character. Opposites attract. Its true because Batman and The Joker prove it. i've seen kids disappointed whenever a Batman film or comic comes out and The Joker isnt in it or wont be a part of it for a very long time. The last time people saw The Joker in a live action film was in 1989. YEAH, 1989. When Batman Returns, Batman Forever, and Batman and Robin finished the trilogy, it still wasnt the same without The Joker. Then come the news of Batman Begins and people were a little interested until they found out The Joker wasnt a part of it. Those who actually saw Batman Begins were jumping with joy when they saw the Joker card in the last part of the film. Yet, people who didnt bother to watch Batman Begins were left in the dark for 3 years in dissappointment. Then comes the teaser poster of Heath as The Joker writing the words "Why So Serious?" over a glass door. BOOM. It became instantly one of the most anticipated movies of that year. As each poster came, more excitement, and the trailer. Heath boosted The Joker's personality out of the Nicholson level. Thats what made it more awesome and exciting. Then the movie is released, the theater is PACKED and the film is Sold Out. I can remember people clapping, cheering, and sometimes gasping when it came down to all the scenes with Batman and The Joker: The Race To Get Dent, The Interrogation Scene, and The Final Battle between Batman and The Joker. Let me just say The Interrogation Scene will go down as one of the most iconic meetings between Batman and The Joker ever to be done in a superhero film. The way both of those characters personalities clashed was unbelievable, it was mind-blowing, it was something Bat-Fans had been waiting for a long time. The performance of both Bale and Ledger just gave the audience what they finally wanted: Batman and The Joker, face to face, in a battle between Order and Chaos. The combination also led the creation of Two-Face, a great add on to the story and a great performance by Eckhart. The flow of everything in that story was just perfect. 19 years of waiting for this climatic moment. And it finally paid off. Of course when heath died, it was probably the most shocking thing ever to happen at that time. The Joker we just saw, the one we had been waiting for, is now dead. Batman is without a Joker. Its just not right. Thats why i feel The Dark Knight was a big success. Batman and The Joker, not just The Joker. The legacy of Batman was continued through that.
