Sequels The Official The Lizard in Spider-Man 4 thread!

Personally I don't think Lizard should be very talkative, not when his reptilian side takes over. But I can imagine a scene, perhaps near the end where Spidey might have to save Connors wife and a part of Curt's humanity breaks through and utters "Martha...".

Or not.

:liz:

I think Lizard talking could work very well, but the Lizard only saying a few words can work amazingly as well. So, I think the Lizard not talking is most likely because it shows how much of the human he once was is being taken over and basically dissolving. A mindless monster who doesn't know right or wrong.

or a freaking ".......heeeelp meeeee" in Lizard voice. then starts attacking again.

exactly what I think

That would be very cool. It sounds like there would be the human trying to break free from the monster, but the monster takes control again.

This is actually the only villain thread that should exist, when we're talking about the main villain in Spider-Man 4.

I agree with you guys on this. :D
I believe Lizard should be the definite villain for Spider-Man 4.

Definitely!

I really love Arcturus' idea of the "Martha" thing i can totally visually see that on screen.
How big do you think the Lizard will look like? I Can kinda imagine him like a Mini Godzilla? Or like the version of the MTV Lizard from the Spider-man series.
Man having the Lizard in the fourth movie is sure gonna screw up the Video Game

Well, I think the Lizard's size from the video game would work very well, but I'm really open for the Lizard to be human size like in the comics or like he was in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series.

why is everyone against him speaking? he has in pretty much every incarnation of the character

I'm not against it, in fact, I would 100% love for him to speak. What I basically meant was that it could work both ways.

So what interests me is how the Lizard will be depicted on screen. I could see make-up for the early stages of his mutation, with a CG tail. Motion capture could be good if the filmmakers want to give him more of a snout.

Letting WETA and Stan Winston (creature molds) handle the visual effects and creature effects would be a great start, if Sony wasn't so greedy, and really wanted to improve the FX.

Stan Winston did THE PREDATOR movie creature designs.

for me, I just don't like the idea of him having a duel personality, the lizard should be all beast

maybe, early in the transformation, or a few scenes when the lizard is weakened, that Connors is (struggling) able to take over and a speak out, with a couple words
or maybe, have Connor able to still talk, and see what’s happening, but, just not able to control his actions, or something like that

but, I just don't want the lizard to have a his own personality, separate from Connors

I want Lizard to be all CGI
but it'll be tough for actor who'll play Spidey to fight alone while filming.

The last thing we need is a fully CGI Lizard, the PREDATOR wasn't CGI, which made him realistic looking on screen--and he towered over Arnold. That's how Spider-Man's filmmakers should approach The Lizard. I urge them to watch and study both Ridley Scott/James Cameron's ALIEN(S) films, and John McTiernan's PREDATOR.

This is how you excute a great LIZARD, without resulting into horrible cartoonish looking CGI. And you top that with better CGI by hiring a better visual effect studio than Sony/Imageworks.

Yeah, I see them using sort of things like Jurassic Park mechanical puppets for closeups, but for action scenes and regular distance scenes I think it will be CGI.

Filmmakers are starting to use CGI as a crutch, and the quality of movies are starting to dwindle because of it. There's just too much unnecessary use of CGI in Spider-Man films.

a good example would be, Walking with Dinosaurs, live (no CG, here)

here's the behind the scenes look on how there made

(particular, the raptor at around 1:50)
if they can made them look that real on a live stage, imagine how it would look in a movie

They are using the perfect amount of CGI, IMO. I mean, just look at Venom and Sandman. Topher h d to wear the suit in certain scenes and Sandmans' sand arm/weapons weren't always CGI in the film. Same for Peter in his first battle with Spidey.

I don't know, seeing scenes like a fully CGI Green Goblin doing something as simple as jumping off his glider, 3 feet from the ground in SM1--is unnecessary CGI. This should be avoided. Not that they don't have great scenes at times, but it's too far and between.

Well, the Green Goblin's glider was still moving and I guess it had to be done the right way, so I don't really coun that as not needed CGI.

Yeah, that non-CGI stuff is really good.

Now, if someone can find some videos on John McTiernan's PREDATOR and James Cameron's ALIENS, it would be cool.

During the final fight with GG, when GG jumped off the glider, that could have been done without any CGI and the scene would have looked better as a whole. Why, because it would have looked real? It could have been excuted with a man in the GG costume, with DaFoe or a stuntman. There's too many scenes like that running through Spider-Man's films. Thus is why it's deemed unnecessary CGI.

One thing about the Lizard: I don't want to see Sony buying out and repainting Stan Winston's raptor robots. A big difference between lizards and dinosaurs is their legs: dinosaurs have their legs tucked under their bodies. I want Conners to morph into a genuinely creepy crawler.
