I just saw the movie and i thought it was awesome it was really well done. By the end of the movie if Loki said the sun set in the west I don't know if I would of believed him. Anthony Hopkins as Odin was dead on he just brought that kind of presence to every scene he was in.

Great

So I was reading someone's review on Thor, and their buddy actually compared it to Batman & Robin.

"Cheesy humour, bad costumes/prosthetics and actors not clearly understanding the tone of the film they are in. Nipple-shot short of Marvels B&R moment"

I kid you guys not.

He probably watched a different movie.:whatever:

Meh, I've come to expect stupid remarks like that when it comes to movies about characters as fantastical as Thor.

*shrugs

No it's not.

Gigi, Tom Jones, The English Patient, Around the World in 80 Days, Oliver, Kramer Vs Kramer, Dances With Wolves...I could go on and on. All really bad films and I would happily put Fantastic Four above them all. The Oscars, as I said are really really bad.

Just Kramer vs Kramer is better than any superhero film, let alone Fantastic Crap. So no.

movies are subjective, you like what you like. for some people maybe a cbm movie is better than an oscar movie and vice versa.

sometimes I think some reviewers have a pre-written reviews and just change the names of the movie, characters and director and then go to lunch. I read a review that said hopkins 'hams it up' as odin. in what way is hopkins 'hammy'? I suggest the reviewer go look in the dictionary to learn what 'hammy' actually means as I suspect he doesn't know.

as for the sequence in which odin strips thor of his powers (not a spoiler it's in the trailer) if I were a non thor fan the impression I would have got from that sequence is odin took all of thor's powers and placed it in the hammer.

There are moments of slight cheese, but Thor's not in the same universe as Batman & Robin. That's an insult. Ultimately, it's just a fun, summer romp of fantasy adventure.

Still, I really truly hope Marvel goes all out on a Thor sequel and keep it away from Earth. But, I do think it's imperative to get Jane to Asgard so we could have a nice love triangle aspect to the story.

I have no knowledge of Thor but they laid that Lady Sif unrequited love for Thor on pretty thick in the last 3rd of the film and I would love to see where they would go with that because I think Hemsworth has great chemistry with both Portman and Alexander. That's kind of unheard of to have that kind of chemistry with two ladies in the same film. Potential for some serious, serious drama...wrapped around a story of Thor's ascension to the throne of Asgard that would be culminate in the final film.

That's how easy you go do a Thor trilogy....in my eyes.

As hard as it's going to be, I'm going to try my best to stay away from the review sites starting today. The American reviews are going to start pouring in, and I want to walk into the movie unbiased. It's going to be so hard!

Well, there are some cheesy humour and acting but Thor is far from being B&R.

Well, I like Batman 89 more than Kramer vs Kramer but I know KvK is the better movie.

I'm hoping the sequel is set entirely on asgard becuase it's on asgard this the movie soars but grinds to a screeching halt when on midgard (earth).

I can't wait to watch Thor this Friday!!:thor:

Saw it. Loved it. 9/10. Up there with IM and SM2 as the best of the Marvel movies.

Got my midnight tickets! Me and the gang are doing a crazy marvel marathon all day up until we leave for the theater at 10 thursday night. Here in rochester we have such a great fan community and the midnight shows always sell out and you gotta get there early for good seats. Always great audience reactions and a real sense of unity when a kick ass event flick is unfolding. Can't wait!!!! Still would love to know if he says "For Asgard, for Odin" in the flick.

MAN Teen ape, I wish I were still out there to join you guys. I was at the Kubert school back in the 80's and lived in Dover, N.J.

heh just Watched Ropers review between watching the replay of the premier lol he seems like he's about as excited for the movie as we are. lol
