Question:
[BLACKOUT]In the comics is Loki an adopted/stolen son from the Ice Giants home world or another realm? Or is he the actual blood son of Odin and Frigga? My understanding of Thor mythology not Marvel is that he was always his blood son. Was this just done for the movie story arc? If so, do you think it was needed or should they done without it? In other words do you think this takes away from Loki's character of no truly being an Asgardian?[/BLACKOUT]

Yes, Lok is a stolen son from the Frost Giants realm in the comics as well.

Thanks. I never knew that. I guess that explains a lot. I was hoping they didn't just change this for the movie's sake.

Trivia time; in the Norse mythology, Loki is the son of Fárbauti (Father) and Laufey (Mother). And they're not frost giants but ordinary giants.

I wish they had used the growling, echo-ey sound effect that was in the trailer for that scene.

I said before I always felt that bit was kind of creepy and alien but it felt appropriate to me since they aren't exactly human regardless of what they look like. Too bad they changed it. :(

Thor's dialogue during the frost giant fight is glorious. It captures everything the character is supposed to represent.

It just really reinforced the intimidation of Odin.

And Loki was still the runt of the giants.

I'm gonna be seeing this again soon. I have never read any of the Thor comic books but I have heard of the character. The whole Norse Mythology stuff intrigues me cause I like reading about it. Anyway, I went into the film with no expectations and came out very happy that I saw it. It was fun and I had a great time. It was interesting how it would play out since I avoided reading about it. Now that there's a few more marvel films coming out and the Avengers, I'm looking forward to seeing how all the films connect together.

The cast was great, especially Chris and Natalie.

Actually one story Has Odin KILL Laufey and THEN adopt Loki as a baby. Tho what Loki was doing on a battle field as an infant was never explained. lol

Hey. I actually left North Carolina six years ago, I just never cahnged my background. :oldrazz:

But I'll still high five.

Be glad you escaped. I'm still stuck in Lexington. Winston/Greensboro isn't to bad though.

:/ I'd have love to have seen this. Sadly, I didn't know they released it here on the 27th of April. I went to see if they had a 2D showing, but they've removed it from our cinema. Again.

I can't see 3D. Not just because I have no interest in 3D, but it makes me feel ill. They did the same thing with Tron Legacy, they didn't even bother with a 2D showing of that Green Hornet. It's starting to get very irritating.

Thanks that explains a lot. So in Norse he is the offspring of regular giants, but in Marvel the son Frost Giants. Either way he is considered a runt and stolen by Odin, who makes him an Asgardian from his magic/power/lifeforce, etc.

Well then if I was Loki I would be pissed to if I could never be king. Plus, it's in his nature to be mischievous and deceitful. Like taking a lion out of the wild, one taste of blood is all it takes to activate those killer instincts.

That's what I was referring to, but I used the word stolen instead of adopted, my bad.

Just saw it again. Same feelings as the last viewing. Except this time I was really wanting more of The Warriors THree

I finally saw the movie...had no idea what to expect...aside from the odd crooked camera angles...this movie was pretty awesome
8/10...wowowow surprisingly good.

I've been really happy with the Raleigh/Cary area. I love the fact that the beach is only two hours away.

Saw it last night with the GF (to her protests, she wanted to see Something Borrowed but I wasn't having that).

Absolutley loved it, it far exceeded my expectations. Had good action, drama, and laughs. Really liked everything in Asgard. Hemsworth and Hiddleson were both fantastic. Portman was wasted, but whatever. Dennings was a riot.

Best action scene was probably the frost giants battle near the beginning, but Thor vs. Loki was very cool as well. The opening battles with Odin narrating were also very cool. Had a very epic feel to it when it was in Asgard. Loved Jaimie Alexander as Sif. Wish she was Wonder Woman.

For post conversion I thought the 3D was good too.

Might be my favorite Marvel Studios movie, to be honest. I can't rank it higher than Iron Man based on one theatre viewing, but I thought it was totally sweet. Definitley hope it gets a sequel.

It's interesting to note(if no one else pointed this out) that all the dutch angles are on Earth only. Everything in Asgard or Jotunheim are filmed straight.

Did your GF ended up telling you that she's glad you took her to see Thor instead of Something Borrowed?
