Was Kreacher in this thing?

Yeah.

i loved the movie, my only complaint would be nothing really "happened" so to speak, felt kinda just like a "filler" for the next 2 movies.

Loved the movie though, it was nice seeing people from past movies that we havent seen a while... (still missing doby tough)

I have to agree with you about Dan. A lot of people are still complaining about his acting but I thought this was his best acting yet. He seemed to be a lot more emotional this time around. I mean it looked more real. The way they portrayed that Dumbledore wasn't looking at him and having Harry yell LOOK AT ME to Dumbledore. That was a great how they did that because in the book he was saying to himself the whole time how Dumbledore didn't look at him.
Dan did a great job...the only bad acting was from Shamus and that is about it. All the other actors and actresses playing their characters did a fantastic job.

I feel the same way...not about Doby though. Just a few things bugged me and the overall feel seemed really fast. Why did the kids not take their brooms to London? No Prefects...I loved the prefect subplot in the book. And why didn't they show Ron and Hermione not being able to see the Thestrals when they are riding or getting on the darn things!? Still loved the movie, the book was better though, and the Dumbledore vs Voldemort fight was absolutely stunning and magnificent in every respect. Great acting, great visuals, great casting, great lots of stuff. 8.5/10 or 3/4. Best blockbuster of the summer.

Did you guys see Dan on Jay Leno?

(When the TV popped up to show a clip)
DAN: "Whoah!! What the?" (And he jumped..) lol
JAY: "Welcome to America!"

This was my biggest gripe of cut material. The filmmakers had established this, and should've explained it. It's a plot hole that's easily filled in by a half-clever viewer, but that negates most individuals in an audience.

Did anyone else experience a thunderous applause for both lines about Dumbledore's style and Harry's last line to Umbridge in the forest? When I saw it yesterday, the audience went nuts for those two moments.
The "style" line, definitely; I don't recall whether the "lies" line got the same.

Yeah, I notice anytime a character in a movie gets their comeuppance, applause follows.

I remember The Style Line and Harry's line to Umbridge both got cheers at my theater.

At my theater, the Style line got laughs, Harry's line to Umbridge got applause, and the ending credits got applause. Myself, I enjoyed Harry's "Look at me!" to Dumbledore.

ps: who saw Emma last night on Letterman?

And no, I didn't take those screencaps - some perv posted them on Rottentomatoes.

It's just underwear after all.

Great film, goes head to head with Prisoner of Azkaban. Hated that Umbridge woman. Great emotion. Best acting by Radcliffe.

In the book Harry was pretty Mad with Dumbledore and in Book six is even more upset when DD gets killed.

As for my personal critique, I understand and agree a little as to why this film might be considered "pointless." In the big picture, the only truly significant plot advancements are the prophecy and the Ministry's recognition of Voldemort's return. However, this is probabably also the most poignent film for the characters. I spent much of the movie choked up, thanks to Dan's perfect performance and Yates' ability to bring to the forefront the emotional stuff. That's what really gives this film resonance.

Thank you! I completely agree. Anyone who's read the books has the advantage of knowing where in the story everything is (or more, what we're not going to see in this movie) and I can almost see how someone not familiar with the books could see it as a filler.

But it was anything but a just a filler. If Goblet of Fire was about a loss of innocence, this is about finding strength and and learning to face adversity, and I think it was beautifully played.

Hell, I got it and I've never touched one of the books (I'm going to read them after all the movies have been released).

And everybody gasped when Umbridge slapped Harry at my theatre.
