Really? That is so odd for such an important scene. I mean, its not like Priori Incantem where even though confusing isn't really of much importance. The prophecy is the focal point of the entire plot. How can they not explain it?

I think thats the thing that ticked me off about it. Sybil and the prophecy was the major backbone of the book. And Dumbledoor explaining what it all meant should have been in the movie. I think there is no excuse for that.
I dont think its a bad movie but this being my favorite book just didnt do it for me cause of the lack of a strong subplot I think. The actors were wonderful and Daniel was great in this movie to me.
Im just ready to move one to the HBP film. My least favorite book, so maybe ill like the movie.

HBC was great as bellatrix. I think it was fate that McCrory got pregnant. I hope that means HBC and Helen Mcrory can be in HBP together. McCrory can be Narcissa Malfoy!!!

No difference. I knew it was coming but how they shot it made it anticlimatic.

It was anti climatic in the book as well. So I think it was going to be so anyway.

I can see why they left it out. Sure, it is confusing as hell to anyone who hasn't read the book...but it isn't the most important thing on Earth. The prophecy on the other hand...it is literally the focal point of the entire plot. It is why Harry is having dreams. It is why he is led to the Ministry. It is why he must fight Voldemort. It is why Dumbledore pretty much ignores him. Its just so odd to cut that.

I love the movie and even though the prophecy is central to the story I can see why they left it out also. It would be confusing to those who havent read the book. Perhaps they go into it in the deleted scenes at least I hope they do.

Considering that in the GOF movie , Prof. Moody was featured prominently i'd say Harry wouldn't be that dumb to go with a bunch of strange wizards.
Moody was with them so it wasn't like Harry just went with strange people who he never met.

Except that in GOF it wasn't actually Professor Moody, it was Barty Crouch Jr. taking Polyjuice Potion to turn into Professor Moody. The only time he ever met the real Professor Moody was when they found him in the trunk.

Not for me it wasnt that was one of the surprising parts of that book. But its how it was played out I have a problem with. But o well.

To be honest, I hated the prophecy. It felt very cliche and unoriginal, but perhaps we should have seen it coming. Writers love the old prophecy plot device.

That's one of the reasons why I hate prophecies on general principle - prophecies have been flogged to death. When almost every major story revolves around a prophecy and a chosen one, it loses its originality and appeal.

Plus I like Harry being so powerful on his own not his prophecy or destiny. But at the same time it makes him and Voldormort permanently linked. So it has its pros and cons, really.

Completely agree. It's so cliched, I get tired of stupid prophecies as well. Oh, and also being the one. Neo is "The One", Anakin is "The Chosen One", now Harry too.

harry's not a chosen one.. just the only one who can beat voldermort... i havent read the books, but my guess is a simply nature balancing itself out... Tom riddle got to powerful... and when he tried to kill the potters, harry survived to balance the tilt in power... and they became connected

he prolly figured, " what`re the odds of that happenning again?"

I always thought Neville was.
He WAS the one who found the prophecy.

according to wikipedia, nevilles parents arnt even dead... there just drivin insane... and incapacitated

Well duh. Doesn't change the fact that Harry knew who Prof Moody was. He's there when Moody is saved and knows from ( i think Hermione or ROn...forgot) that Moody is an auror early on in GOF). Not to mention that Moody ( as Barty Crouch) was the teacher to Harry.
SO ágain it's not like Harry was that stupid just to tag along with some unknown wizards. He knows that Moody is one of the good guys

Well, I really enjoyed the film. I found it quite "bitty" in places, so I'm assuming that was just the movie makers trying to cram a very large book into a reasonably short film.
I thought it was interesting to see Ginny Weasley becoming quite powerful, and I thought Daniel pulled off the darker side of Harry very convincingly.
I thought it was hilarious when we first saw Dudley at the beginning, I didn't recognise him!
Ralph Fiennes rocks full stop, and I was really pleased to see the return of Remus Lupin, who I really liked in Prisoner Of Askaban. Very sad to see what happened to Sirius, although I wasn't suprised, as someone had told me about it beforehand. (Grrrrr!)

If I ever succeed as a writer, look for this line: "This isn't a prophecy thing, is it?"

Ugh, someone just sent me a site over im that has actual book 7 spoilers...no warning either..it just lists everyone who bites right at the top of the page so before you realise what youve seen youve spoiled it for yourself. =( and the guy didnt even tell me it was a site with spoilers..he just said check this out.

And for those who say they might have been fake..he had scans and pics =(

I'm venting right now:(.

Be glad for HBP, where Dumbledore tells Harry to disregard it. The point of the prophecy in the story is that if no-one believes in it, it will never be fulfilled. Voldemort wants to kills Harry because he believes he has to in order to be immortal, Harry wants to vanquish Voldemort for justice. That's why Harry will win.

Its probabley fake. There are loads of websites and people on forums claiming to have spoilers and know who gonna die. I'm willing to bet most of them just guessing.
