The Official TIH Marketing Discussion Thread

I'm worried about these scenes being used for marketing affecting the film.

At IGN,Feige says how the scene where Banner tries to kill himself is going to be used for the marketing, meaning it's probably not in the film anymore.

That really sucks, would have been a hell of an opener for the film.

They don't mention the arctic scene, they talk about scenes in his journey from his accident to Brazil. He's been on a worldwide trek so we might be seeing Banner hulking out in certain places around the world.

I am still hoping the arctic scene is still in the movie and is not just going to be used for online marketing because the Craig Armstrong score track listings has The Arctic listed first and then the Main Title second which means we may see the arctic scene then to the quick shots of the origin and then to the movie.

Didn't they only finish the movie last week though? The soundtrack could've been completed a while ago and the artic scene only taken out recently.

We can still hope!

Either way we are still going to see the scene if it is in the theatrical cut or not.

But in one of those interviews with Leterrier at the Universal visit he said something like we start the story in the arctic then to Brazil and to New York how it is all one big journey.

Something along those lines.

Feige mentions a scene where Banner tries to off himself,if I'm not mistaken, that's the one in the arctic.

yeah I just read that....I honestly don't believe that the Arctic scene will be in the movie now. I'm a little disappointed that they chose to make it an "online special"

Given what I've seen, it is very appropriate in some cases. People want children, but dont want to be a parent. Not saying everyone who has kids is like that, but I'm tired of society giving in to these types of adults who have no desire to give kids boundaries and control, but want things set up to protect them so they dont have to. Just my own personal opinion.

Well of course people agree with this. It's a far cry from your original blanket statement, but this statement is hard to argue with.

didnt know where to put this, didnt wanna start a new thread either, so here you go

Early Tracking For June 13: ‘Hulk’ Set To Stomp Shyamalan’s ‘Happening,' Which Is Likely To Be Unlucky on Friday the Thirteenth!

Marvel’s 2nd self-financed and self-produced comic book adaptation is The Incredible Hulk (Universal) set for release on June 13. Directed by Louis Leterrier (Transporter, Transporter 2, Unleashed) and starring Academy Award nominee Edward Norton, Marvel is attempting to bury Ang Lee’s reviled, moody 2003 film version of the big green monster, and, according to the latest industry tracking, audiences seem ready to welcome Bruce Banner and his angry alter ego back to America’s multiplexes. I spent some time with a well-placed source today, who filled me in on how current Incredible Hulk tracking data compares to numbers for Marvel’s mega-hit Iron Man (Paramount) at the same point in its marketing cycle. Although the Norton’s spin in a comic book adaptation is strong, it is shy of Iron Man’s performance. 18 days prior to its May 2 release, Iron Man was at 13% Un-Aided Awareness compared to 8% for the new...

not bad

Just saw a 9 foot standing version of the first poster at my local cinema, looked really good.

You mean a cardboard stand up of the roar poster, or the Banner to Hulks back?

The banner and hulk back to back one, it's right in the entrance way to the cinema with no other posters, so will surely get attention :woot:.

cool, a friend of mine works at the movie theater, will have to see if he can snag it for me.

On Entertainment Tonight there was a bit of footage of The Incredible Hulk basically tellilng when it came out. It was part of a "upcoming movies" thing.
Along with this and the tv spots airing on the NBA games I think the marketing is really steppin up to the plate, heres to the continuing og TIH publicity and the airing of "the Good" tv spot:woot:!

In a paper in the UK today called News of the World, there's a promotion for next week where you can get an incredible hulk goody bag, with a free hulk comic, a TIH poster and a TIH watch, it's the most read paper in the UK on a sunday I think so that's pretty good advertising.

Today it seemed almost every bus in Birmingham, England had Dr. Banner's alter ego on the side of it. The 5 Ways Cinema also had the huge statue in the foyer too which was getting some amazed looks.

You know... I just realized something. I wonder if the statues were a way of saying, "Look, this is HULK!" "Not 15 feet of bloated pretty boy!"

Life-sized so everyone gets the proportions of the new film. Plus the monstery vibe that goes along with it! This movie is gonna be SA-WEET!

This is quite impressive now... If you haven't checked out the MSN TIH page, just do it! Lot's of info and goodies!

Nice.

For all the people (myself included) who were dismissing the marketing of this movie I think they've executed the final push in the perfect timescale.

It hasn't been rammed down your throat, there's just been enough to get the casual person intrigued and it's now going into overdrive.

Why is there some "team up" marketing going on? Anyone else see the TV ads where Incredible Hulk, Hellboy 2, The Mummy and Wanted are all being marketed together? Also, stores like Best Buy are giving away movie money with all four movies on the certificate.

At first I didn't like this marketing but now I love it as supplemental advertising. Hulk is the big boy out of the four and is simply taking money from the other three because it outclasses them all. Also, Hulk being released first avoids general audiences comparing all four. I have little doubt that Wanted and Mummy will be terrible, dumb movies. If they were first, I wouldn't want to be linked to them. Hulk will do all three a favor and set a positive tone.

I just saw an ad on NBC for a big tie-in with American Gladiators next Monday night. They're painting one of their gladiators green as he competes (seriously) and, more importantly, I think I heard them say something about a special preview and exclusive footage from the movie.

You know what's interesting? How the mood of this board has drastically changed over the last two weeks.

Just an observance.

Thanks for that.
I remember when we had nothing, and people were at each others throats! It was a knockdown, drag-out brawl between someone everyday. Now that we actually have some fun stuff to talk about..and the movie looks like it will actually be good (gasp!) people seem a lot more jovial in these parts, don't they?

Hulk smash!

NBC will air a special "Incredible Hulk"-themed episode of "American Gladiators" with guest star Lou Ferrigno sharing the arena with host Hulk Hogan.

Ferrigno played the bulky green avenger in the 1970s TV series version of "The Incredible Hulk." The "Gladiators" episode will include a hulked-out Gladiator Arena and an exclusive 60-second preview from the upcoming movie "The Incredible Hulk."

The effort represents a cross promotion for NBC Universal, whose Universal Pictures is producing the "Hulk" film along with Marvel Studios.

The "Hulk"-themed "Gladiators" episode airs June 9; the film opens four days later. At the movie's premiere, gladiator Titan will walk the red carpet.

For the episode, the show's Los Angeles Sports Arena will be revamped with Hulk theming.

About 1,000 pairs of Hulk Hands will be given to audience members to wear throughout the episode, and some also will wear Hulk masks. Gladiators will likewise use Hulk Hands while competing in the Gauntlet.

The arena's water will look green. Titan will be green. There will be green lighting, green graphics, green balls for Powerball. Pretty much everything will be green.

The effort is part of Universal's efforts to reintroduce the Hulk for its big-screen do-over of 2003's disappointing "Hulk." The studio has tie-ins with such partners as Burger King, 7-Eleven, Kmart and Pringles.
