The Official will.i.am/John Wraith Discussion Thread

The thing with Will is that he speaks very informally because he's a rapper. What's to expect from a quote?

Those scenes that tamron posted completely butchered(literally in this case, too) Wraith. Tieri got Wraith wrong, he wasn't a 'company man' at all and he wouldn't have sold Maverick out.
At least in the Benioff script, Wraith acted more like the real version created by Larry Hama.

Will seems like a really fun guy to be around and I usually hate rappers and their stereotpical attitude, but everything this guy says just brings a smile to my face.

Extra late with this, but better late than never, right?

Maverick and Sabes fight, Sabretooth wins, seriously injuring Maverick
(which ultimately forces him to become Agent Zero)
. After the fight:

I said it before, and I'll say it again. That was the worst and most out of character portrayal of John Wraith EVER. Not only did that hack Frank Tieri write Wraith like a stereotypical back stabbing wimpy government agent, he also killed off one of the VERY FEW (not to mention, VERY COOL) heroic African American mutant characters in a cliche Hollywood smovie scene where the black guy always gets killed off.

I hope someone (preferable Larry Hama) comes along and retcon that issue of WOLVERINE where Wraith was killed, and ressurect Wraith by revealing that the OOC Wraith who died in that issue was an LMD.

I also hope the movie Wraith DOES NOT turn out to be a traitor and/or get killed off.

Glad to hear that Wraith in the Benioff script act more like the REAL Wraith as created by Hama.

Since you obviously read the script for the movie, could you please answer one question about Wraith in this movie. Does he get killed off in this movie?

I don't know how it is in the final draft of the script, but...
in the first draft, he gets killed by Sabretooth. :(
Lets hope they've changed it.

Yes. But to be fair to Benioff and/or Ayers, he goes out with dignity; not like some 'company man' rat. Logan and Wraith are like brothers in the movie and lacking that little bit of animosity that existed in the comics but this portrayal of Wraith is good. The dialogue is also pretty spot on - whilst not being Hama-good. No telling how much has changed form that script though.

That figures. The more things change in Hollywood, the more they stay the same. Well, at least he acts heroic in this movie.

Thanks guys for answering my question.

"Root-a-toot-toot" stains my memories. :(

Am I the only one utterly disgusted by the lack of 'Root-a-toot-toot' in this trailer!?

Why do I have a feeling he'll be the weakest link in this movie? The fact that it takes him 50 takes for one scene seems like a lot.

Maybe he says "root-a-toot-toot" nearly constantly as some rare form of Tourrette's Syndrome and it took them 50 takes to finally capture him saying his lines without suddenly exclaiming "root-a-toot-toot!!!!!!!" in the middle of his delivery.

Q: Now you've done your first movie score and soundtrack, you're also branching out as an actor, right?

A: "Yeah, I'm in the new 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine.' I play John Wraith, a mutant, and I'm very excited about it as I'm a huge 'X-Men' fan. We shot it in Australia and all my scenes are with Hugh Jackman. I have a pretty cool role - it's not big, but it's not small. I had a great time with Hugh and I definitely want to do more acting, as long as I can contribute to the creative process. That's what I'm good at -- dreaming and imagining."

If "all" his scenes are with Jackman then the script (in regards to Wraith, of course) has been changed from the Benioff draft. But Will.I.Am might just have been inaccurate with the term "all". Root-a-toot-toot.
