The Official Wolverine FAQ

Has there been any indication of Maverick being in this film?
None thus far...But considering it's been said that there will be a lot of cameos, you never know.
GNR said:
Is Wolverine going to be a one off,or are they open to one or two more Wolvie films?
There might be a sequel as Hood mentioned before when asked if Wolverine was going to be filming in Japan.
And before his New Line handler grabbed the phone out of his hand and hung up on us, we got to squeeze out one more question about whether he might shoot in Japan, as one might expect from a Wolverine prequel, especially considering the director's globetrotting resume:

"No, sadly no. We're not going to Japan," he responded then mischievously added, "I think that will be in 'Wolverine 2' but I won't say any more than that."

Stunt Double Talks About Wolverine Filming
Source: A1ant
February 21, 2008

Scene.co.nz talked to X-Men Origins: Wolverine stunt double Kate Newman who revealed some interesting bits about what she did on-set (Spoilers ahead!):

Her "scariest" task was to drive an old two-wheel-drive ute along narrow gravel roads at about 80kmh.

"Every time you see that character in a car, that's actually me."

She also had the "unexpected" job of kissing Jackman's double. "Definitely no tongue involved," she adds.

Scenes were shot in Glenorchy, Shotover Canyon and Dunedin, finishing last week.

Monaghan is Beak in Wolverine
Source: Just Jared
February 21, 2008

Just Jared reports that former "Lost" star Dominic Monaghan will play Barnell Bohusk (AKA Beak) in 20th Century Fox's X-Men: Wolverine. Here's a description of the character:

Beak was a mutant whose bones were light and hollow. His arms had begun to grow feathers, which when fully formed, may have allowed him to fly. He could at the mean time glide and fly for short distances with great effort. Beak also had enhanced eyesight along with talons on his hands and feet. Even though Beak had bird-like qualities, it was extremely difficult for him to fly.

You can read more about Beak here!

He'll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Will.i.am (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the Gavin Hood-directed pic, opening May 1, 2009.

Our source inside the production tells us that Durand was "live-scanned" for The Blob a while ago, but has just officially signed on to the project in recent days. Word is that he will be heading up to his native Canada to shoot scenes for the film sometime next week. Wolverine Production Arrives in Sydney

Source: ABC News
February 25, 2008

ABC News in Australia is reporting that Hugh Jackman will start filming X-Men Origins: Wolverine in Sydney, Australia on Monday after wrapping the shoot in New Zealand:

Most of the film, a prequel to the X-Men trilogy, is being shot at Sydney's Fox Studios and other sites around the city after some initial filming in New Zealand earlier this month.

New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma says the movie will create 250 full-time equivalent jobs and inject at least $60 million into Sydney's economy.

"Wolverine's producers have chosen Sydney as the base for this production ahead of Canada, thanks to our key infrastructure at Fox Studios and our talented crew base," he said in a statement.

Jackman is also a producer of the film, which is set 17 years before the other X-Men movies and looks at the origins of the Wolverine character.

"Wolverine" hits theaters on May 1, 2009.

Kate Walsh's chance love blossoming
By Marcus Casey
February 26, 2008 12:00am

GREY'S Anatomy star Kate Walsh found global fame as Dr Addison Montgomery, a highly relationship-challenged woman caught up in the soapy environment of Seattle's fictional Grace Hospital.

But in real life she has just celebrated the first anniversary of meeting her now husband Alex Young in an unlikely, fast tracked Hollywood romance.
They met a year ago this month at a business meeting. She was a freshly famous GA's actress and he the young hotshot co-president of production for 20th Century Fox Films.

"We were set up for a business meeting by my manager," Walsh, 40, said in Sydney yesterday.

"We really took an instant liking to each other and went out from there, and that was sort of it really."

They moved in a month later, were married in September and have enjoyed a few days in Sydney's rare summer sunshine this week.

"Hang on, what's the date?" she asked before being told.

"Wow, and that was just a little over a year ago (when we met."

Young, four years Walsh's junior, is in Sydney to oversee the start of production for the latest chapter in the X-Men film franchise - Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman.

"Alex is now president of Fox Film productions and Wolverine is one of his films so he's down here getting the Australian end of things going," she said.

Walsh joined his business trip to promote her upcoming GA spin off, Private Practice, which is based on Montgomery leaving Seattle behind for a new life in Santa Monica.

The series launched to so-so reviews in the US last year, but then built a successful audience over two months before the US writer's strike intervened.

It will air on Seven later this year.

Walsh said her marriage to a Hollywood power broker was one made in heaven, and far less complicated than her character's apparently doomed love life.

"(His job) has a great affect because he works in the business and has a big fat powerful job with insane hours - but that means he understands my plight.

"So it's helpful that we're both in the same business and understand and relate each other - he can relate with the great things I experience and also the struggles."

Young Logan Recast in Wolverine

Source: Superhero Hype!
March 2, 2008

In October, we reported that young actor Kodi Smit-McPhee had landed the role of Young Logan in 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Because of the change in shooting dates for "Wolverine," however, it looks like Smit-McPhee had to start shooting The Road (a thriller with Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron) and the production has instead cast 13-year-old Perth resident Troye Mellet in the part. You can read more on this casting change here.

In related news, Ain't It Cool News has posted a new set report along with photos. We're not going to reveal what is talked about and shown there, so link through at your own risk.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine opens in theaters on May 1, 2009.
