Sequels The Official X-Men 4 Thread

I know I may be jumping ahead of myself, but if First Class is successful enough to warrant a "Second Class," it seems like Matthew Vaughn has his heart set on directing. Deadpool seems to have found its director, with The Wolverine narrowing down its list. Where does Bryan Singer's directorial return fit into this? Sure, he might direct Second Class instead of Vaughn, but for some reason I see him returning with X4 at some point in the future.

If Bryan Singer ever returns to the director's chair in this franchise, It's a safe bet that it will be for X-Men 4. Lauren Shuler-Donner and Singer have mentioned doing it, when Singer was still attached to direct First Class and Donner said she wanted to keep it open for Singer.

Singer turned to Shuler Donner and said of “X-Men 4″: “Hold that one off for just a little, I’m fixated on the other one right now.” She nodded and answered, “I will, I will … I’m holding it open with high hopes. It’s totally different [from 'First Class'] and it will be so interesting for you.”

Donner also recently mentioned that the treatment for X4 (which would also lead into X5) had been completed and turned in and the studio loved it.

i wouldnt be against a sequel to the last stand, id prefer a remake to move forward in an improved direction, but given that is unlikely to happen i hope they end up making sequels more in the vein of the first 2 films and first class. i would also hope they wouldnt necessarily just try to bring in new villains when sabretooth, toad, juggernaut and pyro are all still presumably alive. also, i would like if they were to bring back nightcrawler and angel as more important x-men as well as making jubilee a new villain. maybe even gambit. im not saying there shouldnt be any new characters but they should definetly make room for returning characters. but not to the point of where its mutants for the sake of showing mutants.

id still like to see them make the connection between mystique and nightcrawler. they hinted at it and im sure the first class movies will heavily influence the relationship being brought to people attention that arent aware

but most of all i think that magneto should also return. i dont think he shoul dbe a villain anymore, i would love to see him return with the intentions of helping to lead the school in remembrance of charles. the fact that you see he might still have some degree of powers would be an interesting plot point to push forward in a 4th film. as far as xavier returning, i dont find that necessary. he would physically look different and i think it would just be better off concluding with him being with moira seeing as how she seems to be a love interest in first class. but cyclops definetly should not return, thats something i dont hope to see. its unfortunate we didnt get to see him as a leader but its time to move on

Magneto and Jean Grey shouldn't be in X4 anymore.

Jean Grey is dead at the comics right now and I think she should stay dead too in X4 and beyond unless its Second Class and Third Class. I also think Jean Grey and Magneto completed their story-lines unlike Cyclops.

Even though Rogue already completed her storyline (dealing with her powers), we haven't seen the strong/kick-ass Rogue like in the comics so she should definitely come back.

And for Professor X, I think he should come back in X4 for the last time (with the new body he transformed).

Singer doing an X4 would be fine though. It won't change the fact that he slipped up by not doing X3 but it'll be cool if he can do some improvements despite this series having so many continuity errors.

The ageless Wolverine(Jackman) will be about 50 and I'm not sure Ian McKellen could still pull off a near 80 year old Magneto.

If they wanted to bring Cyclops and Xavier back (not saying it's necessary, though), they could say that when Phoenix de-materialized them they were placed in a pocket dimension that they can be recovered from. If they want Xavier, Jean, and Cyclops dead though they can still move the plot forward.

Agreed. Besides, Second Class could take place in the 70's so it would make sense if they held off on that movie for a bit so the cast gets slightly older. X4 doesn't have the same luxury.
Or heck, if they REALLY wanted to, Second Class could come out in two years and set up some major time-travel storyline (not saying this is a good idea) and lead straight into X4.

Personally I think there's a easy way to bring Cyclops back. They never showed what happened to him. What if he was cloned by Mr Sinister, or when Phoenix died her last thing she did was bring Scott back to life. He's just in a coma somewhere...again Mr Sinister involved.

I'd love to see an adult Havok on the team in search for his brother.

Sinister has got to be the main villian. He's the only one that's missing... maybe even set up Apocalypse at the end of the movie.

i am praying PRAYING with all of my heart that theres a xmen 4 that ignores x3...or maybe, i dont care how lame this would sound, all the events of x3 were some sort of effects in charles's mind or something and it never happened, then the movie gets to the good stuff. i want. cyclops. good pheonix storyline. more xmen. no porcupine man. I WANT A REAL XMEN 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was disappointed about Cyclops's stage time in X2 and X3. If they can bring him back, I am all for it. But an X4 resurrecting all these characters back seems kind of rushed to me (Jean, Professor, Cyclops).

Only solution I see is what everyone else has been saying. Just say it was plotted by Mr. Sinister.

Really hated how Phoenix did not have as much fire in her model in X3 compared to her in X2.

X3 reboot would be the best, but that is never going to happen. Even though it should. Especially if Brian Singer wants to continue it. Start fresh after X2. But do not see most of the cast coming back to do a reboot. Who knows?

A movie with Apocalypse might be to much for one movie.

We could still have the school ran by Storm, Beast, Iceman, Kitty, Colossus, and Angel. Wolverine would be involved as well. That's a strong X-cast. Potential substitutes: Nightcrawler, Gambit, Jubilee, Quicksilver, etc.

I don't know who the villain(s) should be... but a Sinister/Apocalypse trilogy could work.

I hope we get more news cause sometimes I can't help myself wonder what if they broke x4 into two parts - like X3 and X4. lols. But still be able to shoot X5. My main concern is the cast... and I don't think Famke and James will return. I love to see Rebecca back as Mystique. I dunno. I'm really not sure how this will come together once its official.

I admit, I like X3 but I didn't like how the characters of Jean/Phoenix and Cyclops were treated. It wasn't like the comics and if done right, I would be fine with X3's existence but I dunno what to think about it anymore. I haven't seen it for years. lol.

Ah ok, yeah I saw that bit about it being in Xavier's mind; I'm in total agreement with you just re-do X-Men 3 as 4. I know it was mentioned earlier but an angle where you start with these flashes of what happened in X3 culminating in Jean dying and you have Cyclops wake up wondering what just happened. Could lead into White Queen having planted that in his head to bring Phoenix to her.

I'm suprised people are genuinely hoping for an X4. Most of the old cast is a bit old now. Also the franchise wasn't in a great shape when the Rat seized it.

I'll much rather an X-men First Class sequel or reboot.

I am too. I just don't see how they can make an X4 work and for people to care about it after the mess that X3 caused.

I'd rather, and really hope, they just nurture First Class into a new franchise.
