Yeah there is a difference between an entertaining box office summer movie and a movie with substance that just happens to do well in box office numbers. Summer box office movies rarely achieve both, although they are meant to.

I'll be happy with a sequel to First Class but I'll be slightly happier if X-Men 4 happens because supposedly it leads into X-Men 5.

I don't think we need another Wolverine movie nor a Deadpool movie but life isn't fair haha.

Sentinels, Omega Red, Sinister, and of course Apocalypse. All this can be achieved...Yes. It would be nice if these movies were filmed back to back like Lord of the Rings. Please get Singer away and either get a great producer or writer or let Vaughn produce and get a different director.

I think FC may have a good chance of reaching at least 150 domestically, but I withhold final judgement until after this weekend. If it can take in 35 mil and drop less then 50% I think it'll be ok. Anything lower then a 50% drop is not that great.

I think a 50% drop is a given. I expect it to drop somewhere in the 50%.

35m is a little too much to expect. It would be great but I'm not getting my hopes up. I would be the happiest person on earth if it had a sub 50% drop.

How do you know it is not setting up for X4 ? We know what Hellfire club is. Perhaps Magento, Mystique and Angel moved on, while Emma, Azazel and Riptide stay and build even bigger Hellfire Club.

I think they should just kill Emma Frost in Second Class or Third Class. Then resurrect her in X4, so she would still look young!

He did a great job with the Star Trek but I'm kinda tired of him and he should just make Star Trek 2 instead of doing this kind of movies.

It's weird it seems this movie is doing very well in overseas countries.

In Hong Kong it's 5-day total is 13% higher than Thor and it is 38% better than Wolverine. O_O

It's also doing extremely well in the Philippines.

So you want S8 to tank because it may affect FC's BO? That's silly and childish and no disrespect. I'm looking forward to Super 8. FC got my money so why can't S8 if I choose. You paid for FC cause you had an interest in it. People will pay for Super 8 cause they have an interest in it. It's not Abrams fault that more wasn't interested in Xmen. Just saying is all.

I don't see X-Men making that much. There are just too many movies coming out in the next two weeks to take from its shine. However, it was a good film and deserves a sequel.

Super 8 likely isn't going to suck so lets not bash a good movie to raise up another good movie. Now if GL opened this weekend then FIGHT!

Exactly, that's pretty desperate to bash one film, just so another can do better so it can have a sequel. I mean to be fair J.J. is a better director/writer than Singer.

Taking Wolverine out of the equation, all the X-Men films did slightly better overseas then the last. Seems First Class is following that trend.

I think Super 8 is going to be a really good movie, but I doubt it will be a huge hit. I am doubtful that it will even open at #1 this week.

Super 8 is one of the summer movies I'm most looking forward to, speaking as someone who grew up during that whole Spielberg movie era.

And I know I'm not alone there - when I saw Back to the Future in the theater during the re-release last year, most of the audience was about my age and everyone who stayed through the credits cheered at the Amblin logo. I miss seeing ET at the end of movies...
