Yes. Sure, there are nods & stuff to the old movies (X-Men I & X2 directly), but it can be taken as both as a brand new part of the rich franchise & as a fresh reboot as well.
Are there any refrences to a a certain senator we all know?
Dunno,If [BLACKOUT]scott makes a cameo, shouldn't that put him at 40-50 yrs old in the newer films?[/BLACKOUT]

Just out of X-Men First Class. Best in the series, better than X2, and best Marvel movie to date. Very well put together.
Can someone make a spoiler thread and put all of these spoiler posts in them. Kind of hard sifting through to get to the reviews.
Thx.
X-Men: First Class is great and wonderful, Thor is epic & awesome)RIM how does the movie compare with THOR?

^ Great loophole.
Look, I think they're both pretty exciting and different, which is pretty astonishing. I don't have any kind of "star/number rating" thing. The movie is either good or bad.Would you consider them equal in quality or do you have a preference?
What's your star or number rating for the two films?
Is it the best X-Men film yet?
Well, I figured since this is the review thread, but I'm sorry. I'll edit my post. Please guys. There is a thread for this.![]()
I was poking fun at you for freaking out that someone gave it a 3/5.
In summary: X-Men: First Class is an extremely well written, well acted and well-directed thriller with superpowered protagonists that manages to get the audience involved in the destinies of each of the characters. It ties neatly into the other movies (only two minor continuity quibbles remain unresolved), but stands out as the best of them. As a matter of fact, X-Men: First Class sets the blue-gold-standard for this years superhero movies and frankly, I dont think the others can beat it. Among all the other superhero movies, I rate this second only to The Dark Knight.
Verdict: extremely recommended.
The X-MEN franchise has truly found its feet (mutated perhaps). It is not afraid to make changes in its source material to create a sound and watertight narrative. It has shown that the successful reboot is a real thing, and that the likes of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN could fare the same if its team have taken the same approach (although this is more of a prequel than actual reboot, and there are a number of nods to the original films). Whatever your opinion on the superhero movie whether you think its ready to die off or regenerate X-MEN: FIRST CLASS has made a strong argument for its survival. Its exciting, powerful, touching, and the superhero action is just breathtaking. Lets hope GREEN LANTERN also has something rather spectacular tucked away in his CG sleeve
