X-Men may not take your breath away - director Matthew Vaughn is a kinetic director but he lacks personality and still can't handle emotional beats - but it has enormous pulp watchability. It also wins bonus points for not bothering to shoot in 3D.

As a comic book action flick from a recently-proven talent, this fails slightly to hit the adrenaline mark. But as an in-depth exploration of the relationship between two of the genre's most interesting characters, it's well, alright, yes, it's First Class. Roll on sophomore year.

It's a deeply believable and rewarding relationship to watch develop - this year's Kirk and Spock, even - and one in which the viewer can invest enough emotional attachment that the inevitable parting of the ways actually feels like a gut-punch.

Movie's can't stay at 100% forever....the only reason why movies like Toy Story and The Godfather are at 100% is simply because Armond white never uploaded his reviews for them yet...

The new (good) prequel/reboot formula as seen in star trek and now this...
show how the friendship of the two main, culturally popular, characters formed along with their origin.

Thor did not do phenomenal. Most people think it was a fun romp and nothing else,not reinventing the wheel creatively. And the box office has been disappointing. It cost 150 mill and made 162 mill domestic only so far.

So you invest a 150 million and your take is a lil over 400 million and still counting and that's considered bad???? I've no idea what you would expect for success. Your standards for success is really reallt high. The studio is happy with Thor's return. Just so you know it's not about domestic box office anymore. The studios count on the domestic take to recoup the budget for those big summer and holiday films. Their profit comes in from overseas and DVD sales and rentals and then other viewing outlets.
