BvS The Official Zack Snyder Directs Everything Thread - Part 4

The only one of those complaints that isn't 100% valid is the bomber complaint. Which is to say, the real flaw of the bombing scene is:

1. Superman *literally doesn't get to say a word at his own hearing before Congress*

2. Superman does nothing after the bombing besides fly off

Exactly!

It was doubly irritating because they hyped up Superman giving a speech.
"This is really a historic moment, we expect some kind of a statement to the senate, to the american people and of course to the world."
:loco:

I wouldn't say the complaints are dumb exactly

they just don't know any better.

Do any of those who make this argument (I'm not necessarily trying to single you out here as I've heard this for years, ever since MoS premiered) remember the hype leading up the MoS? We all saw the same trailers and TV spots. It was marketed from the very beginning as a more serious, "Nolan-ized" Superman. We all knew what we were getting yet the hype, both here and elsewhere, was through the roof. The movie broke June box office records.

It's clear that people were on board with this take until we saw the actual movie and judged it not for it's tone, but for the contents of the film itself.

Again, this whole notion of blaming the audience and critics for not calibrating their expectations correctly is a weak argument that falls apart under scrutiny. If there is an inherent bias against this particular approach to Superman, Snyder has not afforded us the opportunity to see it displayed since both of his films so far have been fairly poor and worth criticizing from a number of angles.
they said they are ready for changes base on the background stories given. but they don't.
look at batman, the background story = 20 years of wear and tear of fighting crime in Gotham. he's darker, more cynical, and lost...
"NO NO NO he can't change!!! He can't kill!!! given me exactly the day 1 batman!!!" those dense and dumb comments...

Not in the UC. He helps people in the aftermath.

Oh, I realize. However, that still makes it a flaw in the TC. It also begs the question of why Snyder thought *that* was expendable, when so many other more extraneous or outright bad scenes were kept.

In all fairness, we can't know what Snyder cut from the movie and what WB did.

It may not have been his decision.

I really don't want to believe that snyder himself cut down this movie himself, because he did a pretty piss poor job if so. Plus it just adds to the list of things he's messed up.

Technically the Day 1 Batman killed way back when the comics first came out. Now Batman has been around along a lot longer and still isn't the Punisher-lite that he was in BvS.

punisher like? how many guys did he kill in the martha saving scene?

I'm fine with Batman killing personally. I get why the rule is appealing, but it makes no dfference to me. They in your way, Bats? Mow em down!

If there's even a 1% chance that could happen, he needs to die :hehe:

The way I saw it,Batman killed people in this movie in self defence. He was not a murderer who went out of his way to dispatch criminals.I see it like this, would I blame a policeman and call him a murderer/killer if he kills someone in selfdefence? No.I set the same standards for Batman as well. Its the same thing with Nolans Batman,I didnt have a problem with him killing Dent,as it was done trying to save someone.
