The Dark Knight The Penguin Confirmed? Ledger Not Done-Deal? - BOF

I read this first thing this morning. Interesting that Ledger might be relutant to sign on for the part.

ANd I wonder if some of those in the "industry" who are scratching their head, and tepid to Ledger as the Joker include the WB execs?.

Just read it.
Man IF thats a big IF he doesn't accept he's going to leave Warner, Nolan and the fans who have backed him pretty red-faced.:(

Nolan was lucky he had Oldman as 'backup' when Chris Cooperd declined.

Hoffman as The Penguin would own, but it sounds too good to be true. If Ledger signs, good, if he doesn't, go with Weaving Nolan............

Maybe WB didn't expect Ledger as Joker like fans did as well.

Hoffman needs sign as The Penguin, he will be great add to cast.

Hoffman would fantastic casting as would Bob Hoskins. I hope he signs up. Why would he possibly be reluctant to do it?

I'm torn between Hoffman and Hoskins for The Penguin :D Both would be perfect, IMO.

Hmmmm....
BOF said a week ago(from their best source) the Ledger/Joker thing was a 'done deal' now they're saying that he hasn't even signed. WTF??!?!

heh, i know what you mean. Jett does seem to go back on his word a hell of a lot. :)

Phillip Seymore Hoffamn as the Penguin would be great.

Have him as the underworld aristocrat the Penguin really is and not some freak mutant with black goo sprewing from his mouth.

He also said Hoffman has been offered the role but likey that he will turn it down.

I agree:up: They need to stay far away from BR penguin.

Why the heck would Hoffmann (or anyone for that matter)turn down the chance to work with Nolan, Freeman, Bale, Caine, Oldman etc?

Hoffman has stated before, he wouldn't do it unless he was the main character, he didn't want to be just a side villain

Damn, so now we need to wait for Ledger to finally sign the contract :(

Hoffman would be nice choice, but I think there are better actors.

Well he might not want to do a comic book movie.

Maybe the fact that it's a "comic book" movie and to work on it, he would have to wear a prosthetic nose piece, a monocle and squawk...

As for the Ledger thing, maybe he's holding off until he gets a better price for his performance.

He has? Well someone tell him even a c-villain like Victor Zsaz was important to BB.

The quality of comic book movie is excellent. He must have seen that.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Ledger.

Perhaps but its not like playing Mystique or Nightcrawler. We'll still be able to see him. It won't hurt his performance.

The mo money you make the mo problems you get.;) I hope to god he(or his agent) is not trying to milk WB.

Capote?

If ledger is only doing the part for money, I really don't want him to play the role....... I was finally warming up to the idea of Ledger, but if thise reports true, that he's not jumping at this prestige (pun intended) oppertunity, then let someone else take the role, don't just hold out untill you get the price you want, I want heart in the part, not someone's who's doing it just for the money

So he's an Oscar winner? He's going to join actors who have won it more than once.I'd sign without blinking.
