The Dark Knight The Dark Knight@ Showest 3/13/08

Christopher Nolan, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Christian Bale all came out to say hi, but none really had much to say. Nolan talked about how excited he is about the film and said a brief word about Heath Ledger and how proud he was of his work in the film. I was able to get separate interviews with Bale and Gyllenhaal where they each talked a little bit more about the movies so that fun stuff will be coming soon.

It's nice to see Maggie in a role where her character isn't totally fudged up. She said as much in an interview, although she refers to the morals of the character. http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal...tereotypical-damsel-in-distress_10012354.html

Bale was pissed simply because they called him back as he was walking away just so he could comment on that flaming turd "Justice League," which isn't worth anyone's time, energy, money, breath or existence... especially not his own.

I didn't pull that all from the interview, I pulled it from:

Everything else I'm sure you know about, but I'm trying to let you know I'm not just pulling this theory out of my ass.

Here's the timeline:

Bale signs for a 3 picture contract with the possibility that one of those is an ensemble film, with Warner Bros.

Rumors of a WB Justice League movie with Batman start last Fall.

Bale voices his opinions that he doesn't want the film to tarnish the continuity of Nolan's trilogy.

Bale options for a new Terminator film helmed by Warner Bros.

Justice League fades into a maelstrom of development, with a writer's strike, a bad cast, and no public demand or support.

Heath Ledger dies in January.

Two weeks after Heath Ledger dies, Bale is confirmed for a part in the new Terminator film.

This whole theory is based on events that have already happened, and his lack of enthusiasm in the interview only reminded me of it. Essentially, there's a good possibility that this new Terminator film is more political for Bale.

Think about it:
Bale wants out of Batman, WB tells him that they'll let him get out of Batman but only if he does Terminator instead. Bale agrees, and here we are now.

Also consider the fact that Bale is an artist moreso than a movie star, and most of the films he does aren't blockbuster material. When you consider the contract, it makes total sense. Why else would he do a sci-fi action film helmed by the direction of Charlie's Angels?

uhhhh no, im sorry i dont think so

Ah ok. The quotes did confuse me a bit.

I do think all of this Terminator business is a reason for concern on these boards. I think it makes for a valid reason right now to fear that Bale isn't coming back.

first of all if bale doesnt come back then i dont see nolan doing a third, and if you look at bale's slate and history of roles, he does serious and action roles all mixed together, coming in 2009 for bale:
  1. Terminator 4 (2009) (pre-production) .... John Connor
  2. Killing Pablo (2009) (pre-production) .... Major Steve Jacoby
  3. Public Enemies (2009) (filming) .... Melvin Purvis
two crime/drama, one scifi action.....batman 3 wont be until 2011, i think your theory is reaching

films since bb:

  1. I'm Not There. (2007) .... Jack Rollins
  2. 3:10 to Yuma (2007) .... Dan Evans
  3. The Prestige (2006) .... Alfred Borden
  4. Rescue Dawn (2006) .... Lt. Dieter Dengler
  5. The New World (2005) .... John Rolfe
bio/drama, western, fantasy/drama, war/drama, adventure/drama

a few to note prior to bb:

  1. Harsh Times (2005) .... Jim Luther Davis
  2. Hauru no ugoku shiro (2004) (voice: English version)
  3. Maquinista, El (2004) .... Trevor Reznik
  4. Equilibrium (2002) .... John Preston
  5. Reign of Fire (2002) .... Quinn Abercromby
  6. Laurel Canyon (2002) .... Sam
  7. Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) .... Mandras
  8. Shaft (2000) .... Walter Wade, Jr.
  9. American Psycho (2000) .... Patrick Bateman
action/crime, animation, drama/thriller, scifi/action, fantasy scifi thriller, drama/music, war romance drama, whatever shaft was, and horror thriller drama

he does a lot of different things broadening he appeal and star to anyone interested. I think his disinterest with any questions about JL are good and I also think the interviewer was fishing a bit...................Ok i have elaborated way too much i think everyone gets the point. :yay:

Still though, Manosman, you have to admit that the concept of Bale doing a Terminator movie helmed by MCG does seem a little odd. McG isn't exactly James Cameron. Bale is relatively picky when it comes to directors.

uhh sorry all .....SHH+ a night of drinking+ a lil passion=:wow: i hope you get the point :cwink:

but look at his film history not all his movies have been with great directors....................so one can say he is not that picky :cwink:

Well in the past he wasn't of the same caliber. You could say that since Batman Begins, his film choices have been for films with higher credibility.

Then again, there's always the possibility that McG could surprise everyone and churn out the best Terminator film since the first one. I doubt it, but maybe Bale has his back. Something about the fact that it's a Warner Bros. film makes me think something is up...

I really hope you all don't think I just made all of this up after seeing the interview. Ever since Bale was confirmed for the role, after Ledger died, I've had suspicions.

ok i admit bale doing t4 did come to me as a bit odd........but then again he did the new world post bb, and i dont know if this means anything but the WB is only distributing t4 not producing it, again i dont know if this means anything. Id love to talk about this with you all night, but i need to get some sleep so i can get up an catch the dent mobile later today :woot: take care then bye bye now

One of the most useless interview I've ever seen !!! Obvious that Bale would prefer to be anywhere else but there answering such questions:sleepy::funny:

And I thought he was about to smack the guy when asked about Justice League !!!!:woot:

Where is all the panic about Bale coming from? The guy does a dozy interview (one of a career filled with them), and suddenly everyone's all like "OMGZ HE HATES BATMAN HE WANTS OUT!!!!!"

I think he was really really bored being there......If he were asked he'd have prefered be somewhere else for sure !:cwink::cwink:

Public Enemies sounds pretty cool, Bale & Depp in the same movie...

blockbuster ?

Dude... this is not how movie making works.
