The Positive Reaction Thread

I liked Ray park being cast as Snake-eyes... and that is all I got right now.

Early reviews are saying that GI JOE: ROC has nothing of the 'bathroom humour' of TF2.

I think for that reason alone suggests that this film has a chance.

Oh and the Baroness and Scarlett looking so hot is a winner for me!

Given the positive reviews and solid looking clips coming out as of late, I think that this movie is shaping up to be a hit. It's the dark horse of this year's summer blockbusters, and I think it's going to take people by surprise.

take by surprise?? like pleasant surprise or surprise buttsecks??

I concur.

I will laugh hard if this movie is more well received than TF2.

Funny thing is, once the movie comes out, over half of the complainers would see it anyway regardless of their *****ing.

You know, at first I could give 2 ****s about this movie. But now I'm pretty interested.

I grew up playing with G.I. Joe figures and watching the cartoon, so this movie's been on my radar for a while, but, after having read the comic book adaptation, I'm looking forward to this movie even more than I already was. The story feels like it could've come from the cartoon, and I really like the idea of the villains and heroes having an 'X-Men'-like connection to each other.

this will be a love it/hate it type film....there will be no in between

only good thing about this movie are the hot chicks in tight leather. mmm

Can't wait for this. With people saying it's better than TF2 and with me not being a fanboy in regards to the comics I think I'll enjoy it for what it is, even if that means it's not accurate.

I grew up watching the cartoon and playing with the figures but grew out of it eventually, in short I never had high demands for this in the first place.

Me too i did not watch the tv show or read comics so not a fanboy and will enjoy this for what it is. Also the hot women in it helps.

what is so funny is they cut the tv spots and trailers for gi joe to look cartoonish and over the top which gave people the feeling of awful movie that is actually good.

While ROF cut epic dark looking tv spots and trailers and it was awful

After reading Devin Faraci's review at CHUD I am officially stoked for this movie.

alright i have to say i have changed my view on this movie. i'm just going to go into the theater with the mindset that this movie is not supposed to have a deep plot or phenomenal acting performances, but rather it is supposed to be just a fun summer movie with some cool CG, fight sequences, and a hot chick or two. i call it the "Transformers Approach"

if you have no expectations, you can't be dissappointed! YO JOE! :woot:

Actually, the heroes and villains having a connection to each other is straight out of the G.I. JOE comic book. The only difference is that instead of most of the major villains having a connection to Snake Eyes (like it was in the comic), two of the major villains have a connection to Duke.

Exactly. I'm sort of on the fence as to how I feel about Duke, Ripcord, The Baroness, and Cobra Commander having that connection. It's not outside the realm of possibility, I suppose, that they all knew each other at some point, and I don't mind the connection Cobra Commander has to The Baroness. It's just a bit difficult to swallow that Duke became a war hero and his friend ended up becoming a terrorist bent on world domination.

There is a sort of poetry to it. It's forced, but it's not a terrible idea. It does make for some decent interpersonal conflict and a pretty solid theme of broken friendships, turned allies, etc.

Ok, I'll admit, I'm not as exited for this movie as I should be, but I still am pretty exited.
It won't be the G.I. Joe I want but oh well.
Im looking forward to Baroness,Scarlett, and Covergirl the most :D

IMDB is making me LOL. The closer we get to release date, and the more positive reviews come out, the more desperate the bashers there seem to become. They're acting like a bunch of hornets who hear the exterminator coming, to the point where they'll actually lash out and call anyone who's looking forward to it a studio shill. Paranoia often goes hand in hand with desperation, I'm told. :p

What I don't get is why so many people have invested so much emotion into hating this movie that they don't even want to believe that it might actually be good. I guess it comes to show which ones are there because they want their opinion to be right, and which ones are there because they like GI Joe. ;)

I can understand the hate fanboys have for some movies before they come out. I always hate on movies that look like crap and 95% of the time my suspicions are usually validated. However, I was always on the fence with this movie until now.

There were plenty of question marks(casting, stephen sommers, first trailer) but, I was never convinced this movie would be the crapfest that most of the haters were claiming it would end up being. I was hoping that we would get a fun mindless action movie. Based on the recent tv spots and reviews I've seen I'm convinced this will be fun, have great action, and won't be as mindless as some are claiming.

On the negative side John from themovieblog has been bashing this movie for a whole year and he is still not convinced the movie will be good. I normally like reading his reviews but, I don't understand why he still thinks this movie will be the worst one of the year.

Connection in movies tend to add to the whole drama plot twist factor. Technically Bruce Wayne shouldn't have even known R'as Al Ghul until he decided to hit Gotham, but the League of Shadows were obviously tailing him from the start in order to get him to destroy Gotham for him, since apparently they had something to do inadvertently with his father as well.
