The Positive Thread

Miles Teller was AMAZING in whiplash.

Him and Toby Kebball are the reasons I've decided to give this movie a chance.

Since this is the "positive thread" i would like to say that The Fantastic Four has become my most anticipated movie of 2015! Yes it sounds ludicrous but it's the truth and it is MY opinion. The fact that we know so little about this movie and nothing official has been released at all about the film makes it so interesting to me, i want this movie to be good! I come to this forum almost every other day to see if there has been any news on this movie just because it has caught my curiosity. The Fantastic Four has potential to be a great story driven film, will it be hit like Avengers 2? Probably not, but as long as the story is good and the acting is on point, I am all in for this movie. I can not wait to see the trailer simply because we know nothing about this movie!

I have to admit that I am curious about what they have done with the F4, just not sure that it will BE the F4.

I feel exactly the same. I'm so intrigued due to how little we know about the film and it gets me even more excited. I'm so used to being flooded with trailer after trailer for certain comic book movies and I'm happy that Fantastic Four will more than likely be a surprise. I'm hoping that it'll be a pleasant surprise, but however the movie may turn out, I'm genuinely very excited for it. Here's hoping for the best! :)

I wanted John Ottman but Marco Beltrami scored The Wolverine and I just listened to his playlist on Spotify, so not bad! :D

There are a lot of high-profile movies coming out in 2015. What exactly is it about this film that has some of you giving it the title of "most anticipated"? Over Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, Jurassic World, etc?
This is not me being pithy, this is an honest question. We know next to nothing about this movie and nothing has been released yet, so I want to understand why some of you are so hyped for it.

I like Fantastic Four more than Star Wars, Avengers, Jurassic Parks. Plain and simple.

But from what little we know it seems that this will be quite a drastic departure from the comics. As a fan, do you have any worries about that?

Nope. The X-Men movies aren't a carbon copy of the comics and I still love them despite the numerous changes. And the origin of the Fantastic Four is similar to the Ultimate comics made by Marvel, so its not like Fox just came up with a whole different way on how the four got their powers.

He also created the theme for the 2002 Resident Evil film which I actually love.

Thats cool!

I'm not sure Fox would spend that much on a spot for this

Beltrami is a plus for this movie. He did a fantastic job on Hellboy and The Wolverine.

They could have been planning a spot for their studio regardless and decided FF needed the promotion the most, not unlike Paramount and The Last Airbender several years back.

95% certain that we'll get our first look at FANTASTIC FOUR during the Super Bowl, which was ALSO used to launch Fox/Josh Trank's CHRONICLE.

Here's hoping...

Did they ever have a confirmed release date?

WB never set a release date for GL2. However, they secured Michael Goldenberg (who did the final shooting script) to pen a sequel script after shooting wrapped, so that they could fast-track one if GL became a success. It's likely it would've been June 2013, the spot that WB would give to MOS.

Interesting, I think I remember hearing something like that.
Sad to know this sequel might be a little further along than GL 2, hope we never have to deal with it.

There's a report on Latino Review that FF may not be getting that Super Bowl trailer (they actually updated to say definitely not getting that trailer). Regardless of personal feelings about the film, I actually think it'd be smart to not do a trailer during the Super Bowl. The NFL is getting completely ridiculous with their advertising fees during the Super Bowl (IIRC, they're actually charging Katy Perry for the privilege of playing their halftime show). It's at the point that I really question how cost effective it is for any studio to advertise during the game. If FF is going to be a success, it's going to need a successful marketing campaign. You can buy a ton of advertising for the cost of one 30 second Super Bowl spot. One spot will allegedly cost four and a half million dollars this year. That's a substantial amount of the marketing budget for a lower budget film like FF.

A super bowl trailer is too good to be true anyway, Days of Future Past didn't even have one. I'm hoping we get the trailer next month! :D

If they want to release it next month, it would be much smarter to pair it with Kingsman and release it online. That would cost a fraction of a Super Bowl ad, and that frees up money to promote the film closer to release. It also allows for a full length trailer. This film is clearly pushing for a different sort of feel, and thirty seconds would not be enough to convince anybody that it's the right direction. For better or worse, they need a minute and a half or longer trailer that puts their cards on the table. It's too different to rely on the Marvel name as all the advertisement it needs. We'll need something of substance.

The Fantastic Four teaser trailer will be attached to Kingsman on FEB 13.
