The Positive Reaction Thread

Here's a real beaut of a review quote for you:

Not what anyone would call playful, this film’s passion for weaponry and covert ops springs from a disturbingly sadistic and joyless place -- all it lacks is waterboarding.

If that's the mindset some of the critics are going to approach this movie with, maybe Paramount's decision not to screen it for them wasn't so far off-base after all. :o

I honestly found it to be more enjoyable than Transformers 2. I thought it was a bit sluggish at times but the last 30 minutes or so really kicked ass. I thought the acting was a step from your usual brainless action film (though Rachel Nichols was awful).

I also think that it did a great job setting up for a sequel.

All in all, pretty damn decent.

Well Rachel Nichols just looks did not care for her acting lol. I found the movie enjoyable too but TF2 still better.

And I'd pay you to start having fun and stop looking at it as something it's not suppose to be. What do you expect out of this exactly?

someone complained about Storm Shadow and the jetpack...weren't there multiple episodes where Joes donned jetpacks to beat on COBRA?? and oh yea...the best animated opening sequence EVER in GI Joe the Movie

There have been jetpacks in GI JOE since the first episode.

Not sure when they showed up in the comics.

The surprise of the summer so far. A nice little joy of a movie. It's like being locked in a whole mall full of candy.

The Guard, Stalker wore a jetpack in the first issue of...A Real American Hero.

G.I. Joe Rise Of Cobra...Best Film of 2009.

Jetpacks aren't my problem. My problem is that the CG and visuals are rushed as hell and look like ****.

I enjoyed the action sequence in france with the accelerator suits alot . I know it doesn't seem very GI Joe but they did this well.

I'm amazed how well that scene worked for me. It always looked stupid to me in the promotion, especially those suits. But watching them in the film gave me no problem at all, and there was one shot in particular that I didn't like in the previews yet I liked it a lot in the film in context and that was when they were jumping around the missiles.

yea i agree....eventhough it's not true to the source material it wasn't a bad movie. Change it from g.i.joe to some other "made up name and characters" and it's a pretty good movie..

people complain about the cgi but beside destro's mask...nothing else really bothered me computer graphic wise..

I was!! what!! Pythona,Golobulus, and Nemesis enforcer!! I thought it was great, u actually get into a "back story" about cobra commander...The only thing i didnt like was the thought that "Golobulus" was the one who put the thought of creating "serpentor" in Dr. Mindbinder's head. Other then that...I enjoyed it!

Nothing tops Sgt. Slaughter kicking Nemesis Enforcer's wussy arse. NOTHING!!! :woot:

The Paris scene was awesome. And yeah, I didn't dig the excel suits in the promotion like The Chris said, but here it worked.

And I loved the attack of the pit scene. I knew I was gonna have a great time with this movie when I saw Baroness grab onto Storm Shadow with the jet pack. That really brought the kid out in me.
